My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. It was so cozy and inviting that we didn't want to leave to do anything else. However, we did manage to pull ourselves away and visit the PA Grand Canyon, Corning Glass Museum, and Glenn Curtiss Museum. Be sure to bring what you need for Smores and enjoy the firepit. You aren't far from civilization yet you have the beauty of the woods to enjoy. Tioga County is really beautiful and we hope to return in the fall to view the foliage.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

My wife and 18 month old son were only able to stay for one night over the weekend but it was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was updated tastefully and professionally which gave it a very modern yet rugged charm.... the ideal place to stay when you want to be in the great outdoors but not completely off the grid. The loft and spiral staircase were great... although a little tricky with a little guy wanting to climb on everything. We were able to spend some time in Wellsboro and my son loved his ride on the Tioga Railroad! We are already looking at our calendar to see when we might be able to make a return trip... hopefully for a few more days this time!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your kindness! We love hearing such nice things. Hope you found the pack and play for the little one! We will welcome you back again anytime! Thanks, Cat and Tom Shinaberry

The cabin is very cozy and is perfect for two. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen is modern. This would be an ideal lovers getaway, anniversary, or honeymoon locale. The only down side has nothing to do with the inside of the wonderful cabin. It is the outside in that although you cannot see the major highway through the trees I is very close and you can hear the constant high-speed traffic. Depending on how the wind is blowing, the noise can range from extremely distracting/annoying/unpeaceful which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a cabin in the woods if you are looking for outside peace and quiet to not being able to really hear the traffic at all if the wind is blowing and the sounds of the birds can totally cover up the noise. For instance, for us the first day was very loud and we couldn't sit on the pretty porch without having our blood pressure rise but on the third day we could sit on the pretty porch and not hear the traffic at all. But as for the actual inside of the cabin itself, it was very comfortable and peaceful and wonderful. There was a bunkhouse/shed for the children but it was hot and there was no air conditioning so the kids slept on the couches inside the cabin. Overall I would say it is an excellent and comfortable cabin- because of the outside noise I would not return but we enjoyed our stay notwithstanding the nearness of the highway. There is a nice fire pit in front of the cabin and the cabin is close to several nice lakes as well as nearby to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

The entire process for renting the property far exceeded my expectations. Cat was very pleasant to work with and answered all my questions quickly and clearly. The cabin was very secluded and a wonderful jewel in the woods. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant staging area for their PA Grand Canyon vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Why the Owner Chose Wellsboro:
Born and raised in beautiful Tioga County (God's Country) I had wanted to be close to my family.I always dreamed of having a 'log cabin' in the woods, when I found this place it was barely liveable, plywood steps, holey roof, sliding down the hill. After three years of constant construction and putting dreams to reality, we have a gorgeous place. We enjoy sharing it with others and especially like hearing the wonderful compliments on the unusual decor including the spiral staircase and slate compass in the floor.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We are located so close to everything at Tom Cat Hollow. You are only 1/2 hour from Corning glass works and a short drive beyond there to the Finger Lakes wineries. Just 15 minutes from the gorgeous Pine Creek valley and the Grand Canyon of PA. as well as the charming town of Wellsboro with it's gas lit streets and antique shops. Just as charming, the ability to sit on the front porch and listen to the Turkeys 'gobble' or see a deer browsing in the woods. Calm and peaceful, restful and cozy. Marshmallows at the fire pit, coffee on the porch in the misty morning. Who could want for more?
