Location: Paris Arrondissement 17, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe (Parc Monceau, métro Villiers)
Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 2-4)
Keywords: Apartment
A truly charming 70 sq.m. (753 sq.ft.) one-bedroom apartment in the XVIIth arrondissement. Suitable for a couple, with a comfortable sofa-bed in the living room for the odd guest or child.
The apartment is in the back of a courtyard, on the ground floor, absolutely quiet and with a lot of light. The living room has 15 foot ceilings and large atelier style windows. It adjoins an L-shaped kitchen with a marble island and a table that seats 3-8 people. There is also a half-bath and laundry-closet on the main floor. The loft bedroom upstairs has a double bed, next to it is a dressing room and a luxurious marble bathroom. The apartment is fully furnished, including many guide books!
The building was built in 1880, all brick, steel beams, and glass. It is on the rue de Lévis, a pedestrian market street lined with all manner of shops, cafés, restaurants, butchers, bakers, cheese, fish, produce and wine stores, as well as the all-purpose Monoprix supermarket. It is a very French neighborhood, the street is like a village with merchants hawking their wares and friends exchanging news. The Parc Monceau is just a couple of blocks away.
The Métro Villiers is a few steps away, as well as several bus lines and a great taxi stand. A five to ten minute métro or bus ride will get you to the center of town, Opéra, St. Lazare, La Madeleine, les Grands Magasins, le Louvre, and l'Etoile.

My wife and I stayed in this delightful apartment for 30 days in late 2010. We are frequent visitors to Paris and have rented several apartments in the past. With that preamble, we must say that our stay in this rue de Levis apartment was one of our very best experiences ever. Why? Three reasons. First, the apartment is spacious, comfortably furnished, very bright (with large front windows and high ceiling) and has the most well equipped kitchen we've ever seen in a rental apartment (the owner is a former cooking professional). The bedroom is very comfortable and the adjacent bath/dressing room is huge. (There is a bonus WC downstairs with toilet and sink.) In addition, there is a separate washer and dryer...fairly rare in Paris. Second, the neighborhood is wonderful. If you are looking for touristy Paris, the 17th is not the place to stay because it is an authentic residential neighborhood that allows one to savor Paris as the locals do...complete with a street market right at your front door. (Don't worry, the apartment is very quiet). Beautiful Parc Marceau is within walking distance. We found the locals helpful, welcoming and friendly, as we usually do in Paris. And, the metro is a few steps away, making it easy to get to all the landmarks and museums. Third, the owner, who actually resides in the apartment a few months a year, is delightful. She was very responsive, thoroughly professional and a genuinely nice person. This apartment is a real "find" and we highly recommend it whether you are a first time or returning visitor to Paris. We look forward for another stay in this wonderful apartment, hopefully, sooner than later!

Greetings Annie-May,Thank you for the opportunity to share your beautiful Paris home. We thought, from our reading of your website, that it would probably be rather special but it exceeded all of our expectations. It didn’t take long for Wendy to make friends with the Charcutier, Traiteur and the other local traders in that amazing street where “local” means 20 yards from the door. Monoprix handles the basics quite well but this one, even with two separate magasins, seems to struggle to keep its stocks up to meet the local demand. Nonetheless, we were never caught short for anything. We dined out a few times but we also dined in as you have created such a delightful environment that we just couldn’t resist. We loved the riveted beams, the beautifully proportioned mirrors and the elegant gridded glazing. We loved the almost monochromatic simplicity to most of the surfaces which gives the gently arched brick vaulting supporting the floor above just the right level of prominence. Sliding into bed after dinner and looking through the two level space and out of those elegant tall windows made a perfect ending to each day.We do hope we left your home as you would want and that we might be able to rent it from you again soon. Our kind regardsGeoff and Wendy BockmanAustralia

What a lovely apartment in a great neighborhood! We appreciated the quiet seclusion of the apartment and the paucity of tourists in the area after frequenting many of the major tourist attractions of the city. The location could not be better: steps away from a supermarket, a metro station, assorted pattiseries, boulangeries, boucheries, and the best croissants in Paris! We felt warmly welcomed and quite at home the minute we walked in the door. Thank you, Annie-May, for sharing your delightful Paris apartment with us.

This is a perfect place for a Paris getaway. It's quiet, light-filled, charming, with all amenities necessary, including a very helpful restaurant guide for the neighborhood. The Parc Monceau is a beautiful venue for an early-morning walk, and the Rue de Levis was a wonderful place to call home for a week. We'll be back!

What a wonderful treasure to have discovered! Back in June02 when my husband and I found ourselves on the pedestrian rue de Levis in the midst of an extraordinary outdoor marketplace, we would never have guessed that we would be back by Christmas to stay on the very street. The apartment is larger than you could possibly imagine with a separate loft-like bedroom with separate dressing-room space and a bathroom that goes well beyond Paris standards, with an American full-length bathtub and overhead shower! The main level has a separate toilet, a large living room and a kitchen that had every conceivable thing you might need, and then some! Annie-May has spared no detail and wants you to enjoy yourselves in her beloved space. My husband and I have travelled throughout Europe and used this site many times, including several Paris rentals, and without question this is by far the best rental property we have ever found! Thank you Annie-May for sharing with us your home in Paris! We hope to return soon! Michael Webster + Cherie Cohen

My wife and I were very pleased with the apartment. It is quiet, with a feeling of light, and has three or four times the space of a comparably priced hotel room. The most unexpected plus was the neighborhood, I didn't know what to expect staying in a residential area, but there is a sense of being at home in a corner of Paris that I had never felt before as a tourist.

To my mind, this is an ideal Paris apartment. The neighborhood is well-heeled and very French--there are almost no tourists there--and charming for idle walking and buying most items, and below you in the (quiet) pedestrian-only street is a wealth of fresh and prepared food. You are in a cook's or an eater's paradise. Transit to most tourist attractions is easy. The apartment is perfect--beautifully designed and equipped, and if two people want privacy from each other they have two separate floors. I will always stay here while in Paris if it is available.
