Alarka Creek Log Cabin (10435 Lower Alarka Road Bryson City, NC 28713) is located just three miles from Bryson City - voted by National Geographic as the best gateway-town to the Smokies! We are easily accessible to all major highways and activities. The cabin is located on three acres with a large trout stream dividing the grounds that are beautifully landscaped with large trees, lush flower gardens, water features and rustic charm. The sounds of the rushing river will soothe your senses and awaken you to the beauty of the mountains! Whether casting a line for trout or just sitting in the rocking chairs on the creekside deck, you'll soon be enveloped by the natural serenity of Alarka.

The River Birch
The River Birch Cabin is right on a fast rushing, clear river with a long rocking chair back porch just eight feet from the river's edge. It has a superbly comfortable king size bed, antique furniture in the bedroom ... and if you keep the bedroom windows open just a crack ... the river will soothe you into the 'sweetest sleep you've had in a long time' (so say our guests, and we agree!). It also has a private nook with two bunk beds and a queen-size pull-out couch. The River Birch has a full dining room, a large great room with cathedral ceiling, a kitchen with a breakfast bar and a very nice bathroom. All are beautifully and seasonally decorated to feel like a comfy mountain retreat rather than a sparse hotel-like cabin. Most of the inner walls are log hewn though ... so you'll still have that cabin rustic feel.
We also have an additional cabin and creekside suite available. Please contact us for more details.

The River Birch Cabin is an excellent choice if you want peace and relaxation. The cabin is clean and comfortable. The living room area is bigger than some whole cabins we've stayed in, with sufficient light for reading in the evening - after you come in from reading in the rocking chairs on the back porch, enjoying listening to the creek, watching the ducks, watching the groundhog, watching hummingbirds and cardinals.... There's a big grocery store a five-minute drive away, and more services in town a few more minutes away. The drive to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is scenic and easy, and it's so much nicer to stay here than in the hotels right outside the park.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in the Serenity suite cabin. Our hosts Bob and Sherri were warm and welcoming. They had the cabin clean and ready when we arrived. There was a basket of fruits and an assortment of teas that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our linens and toiletries were all provided for in abundance. Bob and Sherri were very helpful in providing any information that we needed. All of the cabins are beside a stream that produced melodic, soothing tunes giving a relaxing feeling to the mind and body. There are also many places to go, nature to see people to meet and outdoor activities to participate in if you so desire. We highly recommend Alarka Creek cabins for your stay in Bryson City.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Hi Tyler and Candice. Thank you for your kind words. We so enjoyed having you all as our guests here at Alarka. We are so glad you enjoyed yourself and had a good time while you were here. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. God Bless, Bob & Sherry

My husband and two young boys (4 and 5) spent a weekend at Alarka and loved it. The boys couldn't stay out of the water and loved exploring along the edge of the stream. They thought the bunk beds were really cool. My husband and I enjoyed the peacefulness while sitting on the back deck. We cooked several meals in the adorable kitchen and had all the tools we needed. We rode the the Great Smoky Mountain RR and the boys were thrilled to see "our cabin" from the train car windows as we rambled by on the tracks. Our stay was short but hope to return again when the weather is warmer. Then we can really enjoy the stream!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Hi Nichole, We are so glad that you all had a great time and that the boys loved the water and the bunk beds. It is nice that you can relax on the back porch while watching the kids in the creek and the kids can stay all day in the creek. You all come back anytime and if there is anything you ever need while in the cabin please let us know or if you have any suggestions that we can do to make the cabin better please feel free to let us know. We want to make the place warm and homey and have it furnished with everything that someone might need for their stay. We hope to see you again soon!!! God bless, Bob & Sherry at Alarka

The cabin was great! Great location and private. This is one I would definately stay at again. We were there in the early spring. Everything was blooming and very pretty. Sherry and Bob were extremely nice and we enjoyed talking to them. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. I will tell everyone we know and recommend this cabin for a nice quiet stay. Thanks again for your great hospitality.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Hi Dan & Tina, Thank you for the kind words, it was so nice meeting you all. We are glad you had a great time on your trip and hope to see you again in the future, maybe when the trees are turning this time. If there is ever anything we can do for you all please don't hesitate to ask. God Bless, Bob & Sherry

Owner response: Hi Debra and Kenneth, We are so glad you had a good time at the River Birch. People say they have never slept so good as when they crack those windows just a bit and listen to the creek at night when they go to bed. We enjoyed our stay greatly. We were there over the Thanksgiving weekend 2010. It was a wonderfully refreshing experience. Would also recommend taking the train ride that leaves from Bryson City. Bob and Sherry were excellent hosts who provided a "goody" basket filled with muffins, fruit, and other assorted treats. The cabin was well appointed, and very comfortable. We would highly recommend Alarka Mountain Creek cabins to anyone looking for a great place to get away from it all.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

What a fantastic place to call our home base during our trip to the Smoky Mountains. The creek just steps from the back porch was a favorite destination for our three young children. The sleeping arrangements were great, the kids loved the bunk beds! The town of Bryson City is sweet and quiet, and the cabin was so quiet, private, clean and charming that we have already recommended it widely to our friends and family back home. We plan on coming back in a couple of years, and will be staying right here at Alarka Creek Cabins. Thank you so much!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We absolutely loved the White Oak Cabin! Our son enjoyed playing in the creek behind the cabin and we all enjoyed the rocking chairs on the back deck, breakfast on the deck overlooking the creek, and the unique and charming touches the owners have so lovingly instilled in the cabin. We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a wonderful stay in the serenity suite. The weather was gorgeous. We slept with the windows open and the creek was so peaceful sounding. Our boxer loved playing in the creek with the owners dogs and we enjoyed visiting with the Kupstas. The basket of fruit and muffins was a very welcome gift and Sherry left dog treats for our boxer as well. The whole property is so quaint. Very spacious and clean. Centrally located to all you would want to do in the mountains.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Alarka Creek Cabins was one of the most serine places we have ever been to. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets everyday were breath taking, and the ducks on the quiet stream were just a great bonus. Robert and Sherry Kupstas were very hospitable and were very accommodating when my boyfriend and I had questions of any sort. The whole cabin was filled with warmth and delight and the small welcoming basket at the front door was just a nice treat from a long drive from Florida. My boyfriend and I are going to make it tradition that we visit every winter and summer! Thank you so Much! Anthony and NinaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

About the owner: Hi my husband is Bob and I am Sherry. We came to Bryson City from Florida but we both spent several years in the military and were blessed to spend a lot of time overseas. This has been our dream for years and God has blessed us to become the owners of Alarka Creek Cabins for the past 4 years. We are pet friendly because we have 4 small dogs and 3 cats, and we know how difficult it is to find nice places to stay when traveling with you pets. We love people. We love meeting new people, getting to know them and enjoy watching them have a wonderful vacation and hopefully becoming part of their family when they come back year after year. We love making the perfect vacation happen for our guest. We enjoy making special experiences for honeymoons, birthdays and reunions. We like to make sure that the cabins and grounds are clean and that we make everyone feel as if they were at home. All of that combined makes it all worth while. God has blessed us beyond our dreams and when you visit us you will know why. Alarka creek is truly one of God's grand creations.
Why the Owner Chose Bryson City:
My husband and I visited Bryson City in April of 2007 and stayed 3 nights in the River Birch. After the first night we knew that this was the place we wanted to live. The cabin is secluded but close enough to town to get the things you need. The towns people are charming and make you feel like you are a part of something special. There are so many things to do in the surrounding areas that you would have to come back year after year to experience everything that this place has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
As soon as you pull down the drive at the River Birch you will be surrounded by the coloful gardens, the green grass, the old tall trees and the sound of the creek as it rushes over the rocks and sand. We have several gardens surrounding the River Birch which you will want to walk through and enjoy and are surrounded by so many trees that you feel like you are in a forest. As you enter the cabin you will be welcomed by an array of homemade breads, local fruits and chocolates. You won't want to unpack before going out to the back porch where there are rockers to rest in and the creek just feet away to dip in. The children will have no trouble entertaining themselves as they play in the water, climb trees, look for rocks or just run about in the huge yard. Trout in the creek are calling you to catch them and a grill awaits for the dinner you will cook and eat at on the table by the creek. There are up to 90 ducks a day which will come right up to you in hope of some crums of bread and sometimes you will even catch a glimse of their babies floating or waddling by. You will have several birds to watch, one of them builds a nest right on the porch every year. Pick a rocker, sit back and relax while you watch the groundhogs and their babies play and roll down the hill as they put on thier show in the late afternoon. We have 4 small dogs that love to roam the property so with your permission they might just come for a visit too. There are waterfalls down the creek you can walk to through the creek which is a challange if you are up for one and a bridge on the other end of the creek you can walk under if you have not had enough for the day. God has given us a wonderful property and a wonderful place to live and we know once you have been here you will feel the same way.
