The River Birch Cabin is an excellent choice if you want peace and relaxation. The cabin is clean and comfortable. The living room area is bigger than some whole cabins we've stayed in, with sufficient light for reading in the evening - after you come in from reading in the rocking chairs on the back porch, enjoying listening to the creek, watching the ducks, watching the groundhog, watching hummingbirds and cardinals.... There's a big grocery store a five-minute drive away, and more services in town a few more minutes away. The drive to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is scenic and easy, and it's so much nicer to stay here than in the hotels right outside the park.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in the Serenity suite cabin. Our hosts Bob and Sherri were warm and welcoming. They had the cabin clean and ready when we arrived. There was a basket of fruits and an assortment of teas that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our linens and toiletries were all provided for in abundance. Bob and Sherri were very helpful in providing any information that we needed. All of the cabins are beside a stream that produced melodic, soothing tunes giving a relaxing feeling to the mind and body. There are also many places to go, nature to see people to meet and outdoor activities to participate in if you so desire. We highly recommend Alarka Creek cabins for your stay in Bryson City.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Tyler and Candice. Thank you for your kind words. We so enjoyed having you all as our guests here at Alarka. We are so glad you enjoyed yourself and had a good time while you were here. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. God Bless, Bob & Sherry

All the comforts in a beautiful setting with the music of the creek to lull you to sleep. Very nice !Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Debra and Kenneth, We are so glad you had a good time at the River Birch. People say they have never slept so good as when they crack those windows just a bit and listen to the creek at night when they go to bed. If there is anything we can ever do for you all just let us know. God Bless, Bob & Sherry at Alarka

The cabin was great! Great location and private. This is one I would definately stay at again. We were there in the early spring. Everything was blooming and very pretty. Sherry and Bob were extremely nice and we enjoyed talking to them. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. I will tell everyone we know and recommend this cabin for a nice quiet stay. Thanks again for your great hospitality.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and two young boys (4 and 5) spent a weekend at Alarka and loved it. The boys couldn't stay out of the water and loved exploring along the edge of the stream. They thought the bunk beds were really cool. My husband and I enjoyed the peacefulness while sitting on the back deck. We cooked several meals in the adorable kitchen and had all the tools we needed. We rode the the Great Smoky Mountain RR and the boys were thrilled to see "our cabin" from the train car windows as we rambled by on the tracks. Our stay was short but hope to return again when the weather is warmer. Then we can really enjoy the stream!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Nichole, We are so glad that you all had a great time and that the boys loved the water and the bunk beds. It is nice that you can relax on the back porch while watching the kids in the creek and the kids can stay all day in the creek. You all come back anytime and if there is anything you ever need while in the cabin please let us know or if you have any suggestions that we can do to make the cabin better please feel free to let us know. We want to make the place warm and homey and have it furnished with everything that someone might need for their stay. We hope to see you again soon!!! God bless, Bob & Sherry at Alarka

We enjoyed our stay greatly. We were there over the Thanksgiving weekend 2010. It was a wonderfully refreshing experience. Would also recommend taking the train ride that leaves from Bryson City. Bob and Sherry were excellent hosts who provided a "goody" basket filled with muffins, fruit, and other assorted treats. The cabin was well appointed, and very comfortable. We would highly recommend Alarka Mountain Creek cabins to anyone looking for a great place to get away from it all.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We absolutely loved the White Oak Cabin! Our son enjoyed playing in the creek behind the cabin and we all enjoyed the rocking chairs on the back deck, breakfast on the deck overlooking the creek, and the unique and charming touches the owners have so lovingly instilled in the cabin. We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a fantastic place to call our home base during our trip to the Smoky Mountains. The creek just steps from the back porch was a favorite destination for our three young children. The sleeping arrangements were great, the kids loved the bunk beds! The town of Bryson City is sweet and quiet, and the cabin was so quiet, private, clean and charming that we have already recommended it widely to our friends and family back home. We plan on coming back in a couple of years, and will be staying right here at Alarka Creek Cabins. Thank you so much!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful stay in the serenity suite. The weather was gorgeous. We slept with the windows open and the creek was so peaceful sounding. Our boxer loved playing in the creek with the owners dogs and we enjoyed visiting with the Kupstas. The basket of fruit and muffins was a very welcome gift and Sherry left dog treats for our boxer as well. The whole property is so quaint. Very spacious and clean. Centrally located to all you would want to do in the mountains.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Alarka Creek Cabins was one of the most serine places we have ever been to. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets everyday were breath taking, and the ducks on the quiet stream were just a great bonus. Robert and Sherry Kupstas were very hospitable and were very accommodating when my boyfriend and I had questions of any sort. The whole cabin was filled with warmth and delight and the small welcoming basket at the front door was just a nice treat from a long drive from Florida. My boyfriend and I are going to make it tradition that we visit every winter and summer! Thank you so Much! Anthony and NinaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My family (me, husband and 2 small boys) spent New Years in the River Birch Cabin. We had a fabulous time. The cabin was perfect and cozy. Everything we needed for a long weekend was there for us. The back porch was great, overlooking the creek. The kids loved the friendly ducks. Even though it was freezing, we still built a fire outside and had s'mores. All in all, we had a great time and would come back again...hopefully in the summer when we can enjoy some rafting, tubing and hiking.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Loved, loved, loved this cabin. We have not had a better time in the Smoky Mts. This place is so relaxing. Loved everything about it. Could not ask for a more refreshing setting...the wonderful creek right out the back door, two porches complete with rocking chairs, special touches in the cabin and a goodies basket from the owners! We will definately return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alarka Creek Cabins! The cabin was adorable! The goody basket on arrival was a lovely touch. The creek behind it was so beautiful and the kids and dog loved playing in it. By the way, being able to bring a pet is a huge plus! We can't wait to come back.Did you find this review helpful? We enjoyed our stay in the Serenity Suite. It was so nice and serene that we decided to forego our day trip and just watch the ducks play on the water. The Birthday and welcome basket was very delightful. The strawberry muffins were delicious. The suite is a nice size and the layout was very comfortable. The King size bed and the sheets in the Serenity Suite were great. We look forward to staying again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The River Birch was amazing. The cabin was gorgeous and the property was so beautiful. What a treat! The amenities were great with the linens and towels and kitchen basics all provided. And the welcome basket was a nice touch. The back porch, right on the the creek, was so pleasant. We enjoyed tea while all sitting in the rocking chairs. The kids played in the creek too. The cabin is so close to all the local activities but you feel like you are miles away from everything. We can't wait to return there. Thank you for providing such a wonderful get away Bob and Sherry - you were so kind. All our best to you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you Bob and Sherry for wonderful vacation stay. We were looking for peace, quite and relaxation and we found that and more. The rocking chairs on the porch was perfect for morning coffee, what a wonderful way to start the day. The goodie basket was over the top. We enjoyed opening the windows(Serenity Suite) at night to listen to the creek and feeling the mountain air. It was so much fun watching the kids play in the creek, they looked forward to feeding the ducks and Bella's daily visit. Alarka Creek is truly a mountain retreat. We were so pleased we extended our trip, and we were planning our next visit to Alarka Creek before we left. You are blessed to have a little piece of heaven on earth. Thanks again for all your kindess. Rhonda Society Hill, SCDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My cousin Glenda, myself, and four children ages 7,8,9, and 11, had a blast from swimming at the park in Cherokee to tubing at Deep Creek Park, to going over the mountain to Tennessee. There we enjoyed Cades Cove, The Aquarium, and all of Ripley's entertainments and the Dixie Stampead. Our only regret is that we needed about two more weeks. This was my second stay at Alarka and I am already planning a fall adventure. See ya then!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Ahhh… is the most appropriate word/sound for the River Birch. From the welcome basket (yummy) to the décor to the comfy bedding everything was perfect. Our kids had a blast in the creek and digging for worms of all things. The best part of of course is that River Birch is so close to it ALL. Give yourself fifteen minutes to a half hour and you could be watching a movie in Cherokee, eating at FATZ in Franklin or the Jarret House in Dillsboro. A little further and bam you’re in Gatlinburg going to the aquarium. Your place truly is a peaceful center point to all things great about the Smokies. Thanks for letting us share your wonderful place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

THE WHITE OAK CABIN WAS PERFECT. EVERYTHING THAT WE NEEDED WAS ONLY STEPS AWAY (THE CREEK, THE CHARCOAL GRILL, THE FRONT AND BACK PORCH ROCKING CHAIR). IF YOU LOOK AROUND YOU WILL FIND ONE OF EVERYTHING THAT YOU FORGOT. JUST LIKE AS GOLDIE LOCKS SAID "AND THIS ONE'S JUST RIGHT." OH, AND THE TRAIN WHISTLE AND RUMBLE AS IT PASSED BY THE CABIN ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CREEK WAS GREAT. WE'LL BE BACK!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I spent a week in the Serenity Suite at Alarka Creek Cabins. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay. The sound of ripples in the creek lulled us to sleep at night and the peace we experienced there was so relaxing. Our hosts are very pleasant and accommodating people. The suite was stocked and decorated with great sensitivity to the needs of their guests. We will definitely recommend Alarka Creek Cabins to our friends and would love to visit again; if in the area.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Bob & Sherry, This is the most peaceful and restful place I've ever been. We have had a great time here and hope to return someday soon. The Serenity Suite certainly lives up to it's name. The daily dog visits were as welcome as the beautiful ducks & all the singing birds. And the mountain stream - nothing makes me happier than sitting on the porch & watching the rippling waters go by. We also enjoyed waving to the train passengers each day. The accomidations were cozy and nice. The bed was especially comfortable. I would love to live in a place just like this someday. Thank you for a great place & time. P.S. The welcome basket was wonderful. Especially the Banana Bread - Yummy!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Bob & Sherry, Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality you have shown us during our stay. You have been so helpful and accommodating and it has not gone unnoticed. From the moment we pulled in the driveway, we were in awe. The landscaping is absolutely beautiful and the view of the stream from our porch and windows is so relaxing that we do not want to leave. The ducks were a fun added bonus. The decoration are awesome as was the goody basket left on the kitchen counter-you have absolutely thought of everything and it has made our stay unforgettable. Thank you so much for giving us a refuge-even if just for a few days from our hectic lives. We cannot wait to return and will not hesitate to refer all of our family & friends to this wonderful place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
