The mansion has been recently completely restored to a very high standard maintaining its unique Tuscan style and offering every modern conveniences. The two apartments have been decorated to make them the perfect retreat for Tuscany lovers by its Italian interior designer/owner who has a passion for antiquing and an eye for details.
The area is the world-famous MAREMMA which extends along the southern coast of Tuscany. The village offers all comforts: 3 excellent restaurants, coffee shops (with wi-fi internet) and wine bar, grocery store, pharmacy, bank, tennis, 9-hole golf course in 5 minutes drive. The next towns (Grosseto and Orbetello) can be reached in a 15 minutes drive.
S e a - N a t u r e
The nearest beaches are just 7 miles away, reachable in a comfortable 10 mins traffic free drive through rural scenery. It's the renowned Argentario Coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea with its fine sand beaches and rocky bays, its fortressed village ports (Talamone, Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole) where you can rent boats, do your shopping in high class boutiques, taste the local products in "trattorias" and wine bars, enjoy the Italian style. The fabulous Natural Park of Maremma with its long white sand beaches, cliffs and wildlife is just 9 mls away. Nearby are also the Natural Park of Feniglia, the Orbetello Lagoon and the wonderful Giglio and Giannutri islands, reachable by ferryboat.

The closeness to the sea has made Montiano particularly attractive from spring to autumn while in late autumn and winter it remains a wonderful place for combining cultural experiences with the charm of the Tuscan way of life. It is the ideal strategic home base for fascinating day trips. Rome, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Florence are reachable in a 1-1,50 hour drive or by train (the station is just 7 mls away). In the vicinity of Montiano there are important archeological sites to discover (Roselle, Vetulonia, Vulci, etc.), enchanting medieval centres to visit (Montalcino, Massa Marittima, Sovana, Manciano, Pitigliano, etc.) and, of course, Wine Trails to taste the excellent wines of the area. In less than 30 mins drive you can reach the world-famous Saturnia hot thermal waterfalls and spa, open yearlong; in 5 mins the next 9-hole golf course and in 20 mins one of the best 18-hole golf courses in Italy (Argentario Golf Club), both open yearlong. Cooking classes can be organized as well. Horseback riding is a tradition in the area: stables with horses of Maremman breed organize rides through the hills and along the beaches of Maremma.

The 2 terraces are ideal for relaxing or dining. Each bedroom with en-suite bathroom is in a different area of the apartment for complete privacy.
1st floor: a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a terrace with pergola and a little paved garden.
2nd floor: 2 double bedrooms, 2 en-suite bathrooms with bathtub and head-shower, a living room with fireplace and satellite TV, a second smaller living room with desk.
3rd floor: 1 large mansard double bedroom, 1 en-suite bathroom with shower, a roof terrace with breathtaking views over the countryside and the coast.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Montiano. The town was peaceful and picturesque with wild red poppies, cobble stone streets, rolling hills, -- quintessential Italy. The apartment became our "home" for the week. It was chic, comfortable and the views to the Mediterranean sea were beautiful. We had all the necessary amenities to cook our own Italian feast! The local grocery store and bakery ensured that we could stock up each day. Also, we had a night out in the local restaurant--L'Ape Regina...and it was our best meal out during this trip! Great atmosphere, pasta, anti pasta and service.
