Completely renovated one-bedroom, two flights up, in a lovely upper west side townhouse ideal for couples looking to enjoy the New York experience. The tree-lined street, just steps from Central Park, is an instant getaway from the constant hustle and bustle that make Manhattan unique. It's a well-known street-one of the most unusual on the upper west side-and has been pictured in several major Hollywood films, including "You've Got Mail."

Just out the front door is our own specialty market for fresh fruits, vegetables, prepared foods, etc., run by two dashing Greek brothers who are out of central casting. Nearby are well-known upper west side restaurants like Gabriella's where you can sit in or out and enjoy a late afternoon margarita, Roth's Steakhouse, Trattoria Pesce Pasta, Gennaro's and the famous Carmine's with its family-style dining.

The apartment itself is comfortable and warm and thoroughly modernized with state-of-the-art appliances, including full sized washer/dryer, granite counters, lots of natural wood, an exposed brick wall to remind you of its construction at the turn of the century, leather living room furniture and a flat screen high definition TV. The bath is all marble, and no expense has been spared to provide the most comfortable queen-size bed.

There are two major subway lines nearby on Broadway and Central Park West. It's five minutes on the Broadway express to Times Square, a few more minutes to the Village and Soho. There a several bus lines within one block, and taxis are available outside the door, though you can take a leisurely stroll through the park to the Metropolitan Museum or saunter down Columbus Ave. to the Natural History Museum.

Please note that the apartment is suitable for one couple or single occupancy only. There are no accommodations for separate sleeping arrangements.

  • On this New York trip, my husband and I wanted to experience living in New York like a New Yorker. Renting this beautiful apartment in this charming neighborhood was perfect. After a long day of sightseeing, it was so nice to have this comfortable and quiet home to return to. This apartment looks exactly like it does in the pictures. It is new and clean. The queen bed is comfortable. The closet provides lots of space to store clothes and suitcases plus extra bedding and towels. The washer and dryer came in handy. Loved the brick wall and the hardwood floors. Everything you need is provided in the kitchen. Having a livingroom area with a large leather sofa and chair with a big screen TV was so much nicer than relaxing on a hotel room bed. Vera and Joe's suggestions were helpful too. We found everything we needed at Mani Market just steps away. We enjoyed the Mexican food and margaritas at Gabriella's and had Carmine's deliver to our apartment one night. Also close by is Central Park, the subway, the bus lines, a drug store, wine shops, and we caught a taxi back to the airport just outside our door. We loved our stay in New York and this apartment was really a highlight of the trip. We will do it again. We found Vera and Joe to be honest people that you can trust and rent from without any worries.

We enjoyed the owners' restaurant tips, which directed us to fabulous places right in the neighborhood. We will definitely stay there again.

The neighborhood is great, Central Park a halk block away, subways just a short walk, and all the amenities you need.   • My husband and I rented this apartment for a week in August. We loved it! Its in an excellent location on the UWS, beautifully done and comfortable - in short, a fabulous apartment! Lots of great restaurants in the neighhourhood but we also enjoyed using the kitchen to make dinner a couple of times and breakfast every day. The grocery store at the corner of the street was a huge plus-we got everything we needed for our stay here. We highly recommend this apartment and will certainly want to repeat the experience in the future.

  • We would rent this apartment again. Our stay was wonderful. We appreciated the convenience of both the close proximity of central park and a great local market. The apartment is updated and well-decorated, but still retains its architectural charm. Also, the neighborhood is quiet at night. The owners are very helpful and offer wonderful suggestions for restaurants, etc.
