When you try to book into the Savannah Historic Distict on the Wednesday before a 3 day holiday - you can't be picky. Savannah Dream Vacations was able to book us into the Norris Cook house for 2 nights - expensive - but well worth the money. Our house was originally built in the 1890's, and is thoroughly modernized in a way that compliments the architecture of the house and the feel of Savannah. The company calls you about two hours before check in with a code to open the front door - so we didnt have to stop over at a realtor's office to get keys. We were able to drive straight to he house. The house sits right on the square which it shares with several historic buildings, an active church and many houses. Green, wth moss hanging from the trees, it had everything we wanted - folks walking dogs, the clip-clop of the tour carriages, and our very own bus stop for the trolley tour. Parking on the street is possible, and once we were in, we found that there was a spot inside the gate if we wanted to get the car off the street. The interior of the house represents all that Savannah is and wants to be - beautiful period antiques, mixed with comfortable sofas and chairs, and thoroughly modern farm kitchen, and a mix of cassic bird prints and modern paintings by local artists on the walls. We felt as though we were staying in a friend's house - everything we could every want was there, including spices and fixings for coffee. The master bedrooom was spectacular. A walled courtyard completed the property with a fountain, a few easy chairs and a grill. A couple of things to note - we are city dwellers and we are used to the sounds of the city. The Savanah Historic District is a real, functioning city - so you hear sirens, and you see young men playing basketball in the next square over, and you hear the garbage trucks at 2 AM - you see all sorts of folks walking the streets and waiting for busses. If you want a genuine taste of Savannah - this is the way to go. As i stepped out to the car to get something the first night - I ran into one of the many walking ghost tours of Savannah. We woke up Sunday morning to the sounds of church bells - it was wonderful. The house could sleep six, with a sofa bed in the living room and two queen beds upstairs. We had a few issues with the wifi - but there was a network cable - so we had fast internet. The upstair shower is a multi-headed shower - now THAT is an interesting experience. Lots of hot water.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Sally Glad you enjoyed it and the WiFi is fixed too now. Had to switch to providers.

I just got back to Orlando Florida from my great stay at the Norris Cook House. The house was beautiful, clean, great area and I even had a chance to meet several of the neighbors, walked everywhere. Bottom line, the house is excellent and I felt at home the minute I opened the doors. Thank you Randi, I will be back as I am already planning my sabbatical. FYI, I felt so much at home that I began to clean the house and did laundry, so I know the cleaning group had it easy. The house is a GEM. ; ). If anyone is reading this, do not eat at Juarez Mexican Restaurant, not very yummy in the tummy, it was not real Mexican food. Thank you once again Randi, your home was a great choice and I loved it and I will be back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Beautiful house on the edge of the Historic District, but quiet, safe and within walking distance of just about everything that area has to offer. We loved the master suite, the comfy first floor and kitchen, and the terrific patio. Give it a try as it was wonderful. We'll go back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This stunning property was exactly like the pictures promised. The 1848 home has been carefully and respectfully brought into the 21st Century. It was clean and comfortable and within easy walking distance of all of Savannah. The owner was helpful and everything went exactly the way I expected. My husband and I and my brother and his wife all enjoyed the entire weekend. We had a lovely dinner at the Six Pence Pub and also visited Fort Pulaski and Tybee Island. Wish we could have stayed longer! Maybe next time . . .Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

The house certainly exceeded all our expectations. It is a beautiful old world house that has been modernized to ensure maximum comfort. The beds were very comfortable with lovely bathrooms and plenty of decent towels (one of my gripes when it comes to some rentals are the lack of good towels). The sofa and chairs in the living room were also comfy. All was beautifully decorated and spotless. I should also mention the bright and spacious kitchen with every convenience. The location is just on the edge of the historic district so we walked everywhere and left the car behind except for a quick trip to the grocery store and a drive to Bonaventure cemetary. We would love to go back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Our stay at the Norris Cook house was wonderful. Loved the patio with the sweet flowers and fountain. The home had everything our family (4 adults) needed. Easy to walk the city and close to Tybee. We kayaked through Sea Kayak Georgia and were followed by dolphins! A dream paddle for sure!! Dinners at Vic's on the River and Olde Pink House were amazing as was all of the seafood! It was great having the kitchen and grill and internet connection was handy for making reservations. Looking at Greene Square through the palm tree sure chased away any late winter blues we may have had! Can't wait to return! Thanks Randi for providing us a wonderful vacation home!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: It's always a pleasure to introduce guests to the fabulous city of historic Savannah. The Olde Pink House and Vic's on the River are 2 of our favorite resturants and both are only a few minutes walk. I'm adding the kayak tour to my list of must do's! We encourage all our guests to ask us for recommendations for things to see and do in the area and the guest book is a good source of other guests experiences as well.

My husband and I stayed in this wonderful home for the month of February 2012. It had everything needed to make a trip to Savannah even better. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch looking at the big oaks shading the lush green grass of the square and people watching. The back patio is comfortable and the fountain is very soothing after a day of walking around Savannah. This city is very walkable. The house is in a perfect location in a quiet area but close to everything. The furniture in the living room is very comfy. The kitchen is very large with big stainless steel fridge and gas stove. The master bedroom has an excellent bed and the master bath has a hugh tub with separate shower. Randi was very responsive and easy to deal with. We would definitely recommend this property.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Rather than exchange gifts this Christmas my brother and sister in law & my husband and I decided to meet at a halfway point for a vacation. Since the point was to spend time together, I quickly gave up on cramped hotels and started researching rentals. Just as quickly I discovered Randi's beautiful home that frankly appeared too good to be true - it was not! Everything is as pictured - comfortable, clean and well appointed. We ate at several restaurants, all within walking distance, but also enjoyed our breakfasts "at home". We would all recommend this home.Owner response: It was our pleasure to host Debbie and her family in January. It's always nice to hear how much people enjoy the property and location. I often hear from guests that they were pleasantly suprised that the home is exactly as it is presented. Although I do need to post new photos of the living room and courtyard as I've added some things and the plantings are more mature than the photos!

Marvelous house, teriffic location! A charming historic residence that is well appointed and equiped throughout. Walk in the front door and you'll feel like you've been welcomed into a friend's house. Walk out the front door and you are right in the most interesting part of what is one of the most walkable cities in Americla. Historic attractions, restaurants, beautiful squares, and the Riverfront are easily accessable. Walk out the back door and you have a lovely patio and a fenced in off-street parking spot. The gracious owner, Randi, went out of her way to make sure our visit was fun and memorable. She knows Savannah well and was generous in taking the time to share her knowledge in response to our many emails. We were two couples staying in the house, and all four of us give it five stars. We can't wait to return.Owner response: Thanks for posting your impressions and experience. I love sharing the insider info about Savannah with guests. We been there for 12yrs and there is always something to do or discover. My favorite space is the courtyard for breakfast and in the evening for a cocktail. It's so relaxing for us just to listen to the fountain and see the lights on through the stained glass windows from the church next door. Sometimes we are fortunate enough to catch an evening choral performance and that is really special.

If you want a great southern experience, this is fantastic. Highlights: it is close to the Savannah River,(we stayed at a fancy hotel, but it had nothing on this house) and with a very short walk you can eat at the Pirates Cove, one of the top restaurants with great pirate atmoshpere for adults or family, complete with a comfy bar and excellent buffet loaded with southern comfort food; a bonus: you can pick up a tour bus right in front of the restaurant and drop you back off again. You get to experience the best the south has to offer: a quaint and beautiful historical neighborhood, but with the all the conveniences needed by a tourist in Savannah, plus the comforts of home, with off street parking. They've thought of everything, the patio even has a barbecue. This house is historical, with an updated feel in the shower and large bath; we visited this house for future stays and met Randi and her family; they invited us over to see the house, even though they were staying there a couple of nights; I've never forgotten this house and its location; even though it's been a year since I've seen it...it's one in a million, and we hope to go back soon.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Why the Owner Chose Savannah:
We bought this home for our semi-retirement several years ago, before we were ready to retire, but the market was right and we couldn't let this one get away. We love it for it's location and historic nature. It's in the heart of everything but quiet and serene at the same time.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I think the biggest benefit is the ability to walk everywhere in only a few minutes. There are so many great shops, art galleries and resturants just a few minutes away. That and the gated parking which is impossible to find downtown.
