Excellent cabin for anyone wanting the best views of the valley and hiking straight into the park from your front door. Cabin was clean and very functional. Owner was very helpful and accessible for questions. Would recommend this cabin rental to anyone desiring a Smokies experience.

This cabin is truly accessible for the wheelchair user. It is beautiful, clean, wonderful views, peaceful, comfortable beds, good mountain water, wonderful bathrooms, words cannot decribe our vacation. It is on a mountain ridge so the trip up and down is an adventure and I would definitely recommend your first time to go in daylight. We drove a Buick LeSabre with a wheelchair car top carrier with automatic transmission. We put it in 2nd and 1st gear and had no problems, but we would not attempt this drive in the winter without a 4 wheel drive and we didn't feel comfortable driving the mountains in the dark but we are from Michigan. It is so worth the trip. The drive to Tennessee was beautiful. When you get to the cabin you really do not need to go anywhere else. But if you do there is plenty of variety for the tourist attractions to the mountain sceneries and very wheelchair accommodating. The wheelchair user cannot get into the upper loft but it really wasn't an issue with my family. Townsend is the quieter part of this area and is very wheelchair friendly, has a nice grocery store (IGA) and other attractions if you don't want to get into the traffic of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We ate at the cabin and at several restaurants and never ran into an issue with the wheelchair. We have stayed at other "wheelchair accessible" places and this one was the first one that really was truly a delight. We will go back. Thank you Connie & Paul for this Above the Clouds cabin. P.S. Connie you were right there were no mosquitos they were waiting for us when we got home. We did not run into any bears or racoons during our stay.
Owner response:Wears Valley is called the "Jewel of the Smokies" for good reason! And we're glad you spent time in Townsend, the "Peaceful Side of the Smokies." That's our favorite destination too, after the National Park.

The beauty of this place cannot be adequately described in words or pictures. My family just returned from 4 days. Fall colors are coming alive. We saw a Bald Eagle, golden eagles, and amazing views of the mountains and valley below. Now I know why it's called "Above the Clouds."

My family stayed at this cabin for 4 nights. We chose it because of its handicap accessibility. It was a beautiful vacation. The cabin is beautiful inside and out with plenty of room for everyone. The rocking chairs and hot tub on the main level balcony provided soothing stress release. The cabin is the highest on the mountain. There are 4 other nearby cabins, so it is not totally secluded. However, we didn't hear anyone else while we were there. I think everyone wanted the same level of privacy and quiet. We saw a bald eagle soaring just above us one day, and every morning, the valley below is covered in the Smoky Mountain mist. There are amazing views from all corners of this cabin. The kitchen is fully equipped. For handicapped, this cabin met our needs--gripper bars around the toilet could have been better placed. You can find our family pictures on the "Above the Clouds" Facebook page. Enjoy.

I just wanted to thank you for a awesome cabin. It was everything that was advertised and more. While we did not actually "see" a bear I do believe that was had a visit one morning! My 6 y/o decided to make a plan he told be to buy two jars of honey and a big role of duct tape. When asked why he said so we could catch the bear and take it home! lol Yeah had to do a little education about bear safety there! Thanks again for the great cabin and we look forward to visiting again.

It's such a beautiful cabin with very cute and creative details. There is so much room with lots to do in the cabin. Plenty of room for a family of 7 to get lost. We had so much fun at that cabin, I never want to leave! Today we are going into town but I look forward to coming back to the cabin.

When it comes to taking family vacations we call ourselves the "Cubans Griswold’s". From the night before the trip family meeting, to selecting the road trip music, to having an itinerary for everyday planned out. Yes, my husband is that enthusiastic! But even with all these pre-plannings one thing we have learns from our previous trips about hotel accommodations is that pictures and descriptions could be deceiving, especially for the needs of my husband since he is wheelchair bound. We are happy to say every detail and description about this cabin is in fact what it promises. The comfort and accessibility surpassed our expectations making this so far the best short vacation that we have ever taken since my husband's accident. Not only is the cabin beautifully (stylishly) decorated but also every detail was though out for someone with disabilities with such details that you could not tell it is so unless you are the one with such needs. I was able to relax and enjoy it as well since he was roaming around both floor levels on his own. And talking about relaxation, I save the best for last: The Cabin's location! Words can't express the feeling of peace you get when you sit on its porches to see why this cabin got its name. What a breathtaking view! Yes, you wake up inside the clouds just like they say. And the sunsets?!!! What a treat it was, we even got to enjoy a rainbow one of the mornings there. As far as what to do around town, well there is plenty for everyone and the best part is that is not far away. Both of our families are so pleased that a return longer vacation is already in the works. We truly recommend this cabin as the one vacation you should treat yourself with at least once in your lifetime, you will not regret it. We are thankful to the owners for sharing and making this a home away from home for us to enjoy.

We had the privilege to stay at Above the Clouds for the Thanksgiving holiday and it was just perfect. The accessibility features could have not been better! We were so comfortable and the kitchen was so well stocked for even a holiday meal! The view is beyond fantastic and the cabin fit our family of eight, including a 16 month old and a service dog, perfectly. We will be back again!

Our family was forever changed when we found out my daughter had cancer, which left her in a wheelchair. Our wedding was planned for March, of 08 but Kortney got very sick with Chemo and Rad. So with everything on our families plate that was the last thing we were thinking about. So almost a year later we decided to get marrie on Valentines day. We had already spend all kinds of money on deposits and stuff for the wedding and need a very affordable way for us to get married. So we decided that him, his son and me and my three children would go to the mountains. Let me tell you it was the wedding of my dreams. Small and beautiful. We also didn't spend that much money because we were just happy with the view we just didn't need to go no where..Thanks so much Linda and Richard Grimes P.S. our daughter just made it to her one year cancer free mark in Sept....

My wife and I had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at your cabin. The name of the Cabin, Above the Clouds, was very fitting for the weekend. Actually, many times we were momentarily "In the Clouds" which was an experience we have never had. The cabin was exceptionally clean and had all the comforts of home. The location was perfectly situated between Townsend and Pigeon Forge which enables you to easily visit various areas, including Caves Code, in the Smokey Mountains. The large wide screen television is larger than other cabins we have rented. This was important for us as we watch college football games on Saturday evenings.

My family (wife, me, 7 year old son, 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter) had an incredible week at this cabin. We were looking for a place to get away and we definitely found it. We brought our food with us (although we picked up some cold groceries at Kroger - about 15 minutes away) and spent most of the week at the cabin. The swing set was perfect for the kids. The pool was cold, but we braved it for about an hour one day (late August). The porch swing and upstairs pool table got the most use. Picnicking in the park is about 15 minutes away. We also visited Cades Cove in the park and the aquarium in Gatlinburg. There were plenty of other things we could have done (hiking, white water rafting, tubing, miniature golf, go carts, shopping, etc.) , but we just enjoyed spending time together as a family in a house with lots of things to do. My wife and I used the main level bedroom and the kids stayed in the downstairs bedrooms (the boys took the bunk bed and the girl slept in the provided pack and play in the other downstairs bedroom). Be sure to check out the Facebook page for Above the Clouds for more pictures and info. The owner really cares about the property and was very concerned that we have a great time while we were there.

We returned from one of the most relaxing and fun vacations we have ever had. Everybody had a great time. The weather was kind of crazy at first. It rained really hard on Thursday and Friday mornings but cleared up in the afternoons to the most fantastic sunsets. And then it was mainly sunny for the rest of the time. This morning we got up early and we were literally above the clouds. The only thing you could see was the peak in front of Eagles View with the clouds below it; it was great. We ziplined and tubed and went to Gatlinburg. Thanks you so much from everyone and myself for a much needed family bonding and wonderful vacation.
Owner response:This family rented both of our cabins (Above the Clouds and Eagles View) for their week long summer vacation! They donated a muffin tin to the kitchen -- thanks so much for that!

We just returned last night from our stay at Above the Clouds. There were 11 of us and it was a family vacation filled with warm memories. My husband, 2 sons, parents, sister and her family of 4 had the time of our lives. The house was not only beautiful, but so spacious. I was afraid we'd be tripping over each other. Instead, it was cozy and accommodating. I use a wheelchair and to have accessiblility and that much room makes it a true treasure. The days and nights were filled with conversations, laughter, games and relaxing on the porch with the best view in the world. Wears Valley is considered "The Peaceful Side" and that is so true. There was so much nature around that we almost never had to leave. When we did leave everything was near so we never had to drive far. Townsend area is a great place. There's a 9 mile bike trail that ended with a couple hours of tubing when everyone finished. Grandpa & grandkids had a blast! Homemade southern bbq was right there to bring back. There's another bbq and fresh produce stand about 2 miles down the road that is a gem, as well. There is something for everyone from the hard core hiker to just reading a book on the front porch swing. We are planning our trip back. Thanks, Connie for everything!!!

I kept looking at the web site at the pictures of the cabin and of the view and I thought I was ready for what I was about to experance. But I was wrong I would like to think that the feeling that I had when I say the view from the cabin would last for every. The air is so clean, the sky seemed to be a ribon wraped around the mountains. I would like to thank you for the chance to experance one of gods greatest sights. I would recomend this cabin to anyone. God bless you all.

Our stay at Above the Clouds was wonderful! The cabin and all of the amenities are great. Our kids (3 and 6) loved all of the games and the playground and really enjoyed the log bunk beds. It is so peaceful and relaxing up there, it makes it hard to leave! The location is perfect for access to the National Park and is such a welcomed contrast to some of the more "touristy" locations close by. On that note, if you plan to go into Pigeon Forge (or even travel through there), you may want to schedule your trip around the "Rod Run" car show. We wasted a lot of our time stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. Connie was such a great help from the beginning to the end. She even called during our stay to let us know that there would be some controlled burning on the adjacent mountains and helped us out with an alternate route to the National Park. Thank you Connie! I would highly recommend Above the Clouds to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway or for a wonderful family vacation like we had. We will be definitely be back!

Our family was one of the first to stay in the cabins of "Above the Clouds". From the kids to the grandparents, we were totally impressed. The cabin was truly a home away from home. It felt as though you could reach out and touch the clouds as they drifted by. Simply beautiful!

I just wanted to let you know how much my parents enjoyed their stay at "Above the Clouds". (Dad) and Mama both couldn't get over the view, especially early in the mornings when we were literally above the clouds. My Dad is not easily impressed but you and your cabin impressed him. He said, " I don't think there is a better place to stay in the mountains & I've been coming for forty years!" Anyway, thanks again -- and the group is already planning another trip together.

Our stay at Above the Clouds was wonderful! From the first time I spoke with Constance, until the day we left, our experience with Above the Clouds has been positive and good. The cabin is absolutely beautiful. No detail has been forgotten, all the way down to the binoculars. The views are stunning. Words cannot describe the magnificent views. Our family made unforgettable memories that will always be treasured. Thank you Constance!

I would recommend spending a week at this cabin to anyone. I have been to many different locations. London, Japan, St. Thomas USVI, Etc. A week at this cabin ranks up there, with any of my other travels. As we traveled down the mountain one day. We saw two cars before hitting the main road. We were joking, it must be rush hour. As that was the most traffic we had seen on those roads all week. Quite a relaxing week. Chris M Bear, DE
Owner response:Many folks who come to the Smokies try to avoid the "cliff hanger" cabins and really steep scary roads. Above the Clouds is set up on a ridge with awesome views, but it won't make you dizzy! My 88 year old Dad says it's the closest he'll get to heaven before he really gets there! - Connie

This is the most beautiful place in the world. I planned this trip to spend time with my family. I had meaningful talks with my Dad on the swing. Had fun cooking with my mother. Playing pool with my son. Watching my daughter get over her fear of the pool. Sleeping in with my husband for once past 7 a.m. Hanging out with our friends. Going to Cades Cove at sunrise. Watching the awesome sunset almost every night . . . Thanks!

Above the Clouds exceeded our expectations in every way. The cabin is immaculate, the decor is beautiful, the furnishings are both unusual and comfortable, and the views are breathtaking. The cabin is easily accessible to those with wheelchairs (we especially liked the showers!), and we appreciated the opporunity to bring our small dog with us. The location is quiet and hidden, yet close enough to the attractions of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the national park to be convenient. The owner provided excellent customer service and obviously cares that guests feel at home. My only complaint is that our three day stay just wasn't long enough!

First off Connie, thanks for allowing us to experience such a wonderful vacation. We and 4 other families stayed in the "Above the Clouds" Cabin this past weekend. The view are spectacular, the cabin is so lovely. We fell in love with the cabin and didn't want to leave. We had children with us ranging from age 5-9 They never once got bored! My boyfriend is a paraplegic and in a wheelchair, and he enjoyed not being left out of anything because everything was accesible. The door ways were big enough for him to easily get through, and the adjustable shower head was amazing. (We're getting one of those for our house!!) The only thing he pointed out was that the first ramp to the main level was a very steep incline, and could perhaps use some of that textured black grip tape to help get you up the ramp. Other than that he was able to access everything from the counters to the porches outside. We loved it. Thanks again Connie, and we look forward to staying in your lovely cabin again.
Owner response:Thank you for your suggestion! We had space limitations on that first ramp, and will work on the grip tape right away. We're so glad everyone enjoyed the stay!

Above the Clouds should be called Beyond Any Words! The views are literally breath-taking. I took so many pictures last weekend that I am going to have to get more memory on my computer to download them! The furnishings are 5 star all the way from the sheets, towels, hand crafted furniture and art work. Best of all, it is just minutes from the main road. The only time I felt closer to heaven was when I was in a airplane high in the sky. I personally guarentee you that you will never forget your stay at Above the Clouds. Connie, thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous and restful mountain retreat. Sharon
