This lovely home is at the end of a quiet lane, with over an acre of lawn, flowers, and a wide variety of fruit and evergreen trees, and best of all, right next door to the beautiful beaches and dunes of Mackerricher State Park. By walking up an easy trail from the yard, you gain access to miles of secluded beaches and breathtaking vistas. The wildlife is wonderful... early in the morning there are deer and jackrabbits, throughout the day hawks, osprey and sea-birds are plentiful, including the rare snowy plovers running along the edge of the water.

The walk across the dunes from the house to the ocean is about 1/4 mile and takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on your pace. Once you reach the beach you can head south and hike a couple miles to the tide pools. If you head north a couple miles you arrive at the outlet of ten mile river… this is a good area to look for seals. Just north of the river are fascinating rock formations with tunnels and arches and lots of mussels.

Watching the sunset from the dunes is spectacular and afterward, it's just short walk back to the comforts of your vacation home. Sitting on the deck, you can hear the sounds of the surf in the distance.
Cooking dinner at home is a pleasure with the well-equipped kitchen and barbecue. As the moist salt breezes cool the evening air, you can relax by the fire or in the luxurious privacy of the large hot tub on the back deck.

A wide variety of shops, galleries, restaurants and tourist attractions such as the Botanical Gardens and the Skunk Train are just a short drive south in Fort Bragg and Mendocino. The Mendocino county area also has a growing variety of cultural and recreational activities available with details available at the house. You're welcome to call or write for more info via phone or email.

Cypress Dunes...a dream get-away!!

Guest: Kat (Rocklin, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/16/11 Review Submitted: 12/03/11

What a magnificent find! We stayed here Nov. 16th-20th, 2011. You hear the sound of the ocean across the dunes. Deer come in the early morning nibbling on the fallen apples in the yard. The hot tub was fabulous and relaxing! All the amenities you could ask for are there! The location is private yet located conveniently just north of Ft. Bragg. The owner is one of the nicest ladies we have had the pleasure of renting from and plan to do so again! Thank you for an awesome place to stay!!

Great vacation with our dog

Guest: Happy Camper (Chico)
Date of Stay: 10/02/11 Review Submitted: 10/07/11

This was a surprise. It had everything we needed for a nice, relaxing time on the coast with our dog. Very quiet neighborhood, large yard, great walk to the dunes and beach. The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was evident that the owners tried hard to think of ways to make their guests comfortable.

Private and Quiet

My husband and I had a pleasant very quiet stay at cozy Cypress Dunes. We saw deer, quail and enormous ravens. The nearby Dunes and panoramas were exquisite. Lucky for us, the wild berries were in abundance and they were delicious. V'Canto's in town was a find with superb manicotti on the menu.

Cypress dunes is a very comfortable and pleasant place to stay with a spacious yard. It is close the "Skunk Train", Old Haul Road (biking and walking road) and to a state park. It is only about 15 minutes to Mendocino. We definitely enjoyed our stay there.

Great get away

Guest: Karin (Hidden Valley Lake)
Date of Stay: 08/25/11 Review Submitted: 09/03/11

We found this house very prepared for our stay; the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed the family friendly yard and the plant life including fruit trees and blackberry bushes. The property was private and the spa was great; each night we could see the stars; the fog rolled in and out, but always cooperated with spa stargazing. The weather was good, cool evenings and mornings with sunny days and clear nights. The house was comfortable and easy to heat. We had a memorable stay, and we hope to return.

SWEET RETREAT

Guest: R & T (Woodland, CA)
Date of Stay: 05/01/11 Review Submitted: 05/06/11

We loved our stay at the Cypress Dunes. Quiet, relaxing, enjoyable....do as much or as little as you like. We love the sand dunes....Very PRIVATE. There are so many places to explore and there is all the hiking you could possibly want in a very short distance. The home is comfortably suited for couples to reconnect with nature and each other. The Hot tub is a fabulous feature and the best way to check out the stars at night. We completely enjoyed ourselves, yet again. We absolutely love the area and we will be back. Thank you for taking good care of us on our return trip to your home.

Cypress Dunes Holiday

Guest: Ken and Tina (Roseville, ca.)
Date of Stay: 04/13/11 Review Submitted: 04/23/11

We recently stayed at the Cypress Dunes for a five day holiday, this was our second visit and as before it didn't disappoint. If you require 5 star accomodations you might want to seek lodging elsewhere, but if you want a very QUIET competent residence with lots of parking, clean roomy hot tub, and a 15-30 minute walk across wind swept sand dunes to the Pacific Ocean....well my friend, this is your vacation home! Management is friendly, responsive and will go out of their way to please if it's within their power.

Great Place to Relax

Guest: Dr. Marc (Fair Oaks, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/26/10 Review Submitted: 12/01/10

Had a great time at Cypress Dunes. Went with my wife, son and dog and had a great time. Lot's of property and very private. Hot tub is great! The best part was the walk to the beach through the sand dunes. Takes about 15 min. to the beach which is very secluded and stretches for which seemed liked miles. Can't beat the place for the price!

Happy times for all

Guest: Mike and Em (Chico, CA)
Date of Stay: 04/24/10 Review Submitted: 05/02/10

We just returned and are all exhauseted, our two goldens ran the dunes and wanted to be carried back . The first night we were so tired we went to dinner at the Purple Rose, not only great food but killer Margaritas. Explored two lighthouses near by and relaxed afterwards in the hot tub. This was a way overdue trip and very relaxing taking time to reflect always helps when the ocean just washes away the stress. We also tried the Silvers' at the Wharf...wonderful food, and we sat on the deck with the dogs and watched fishing boats come and go while the seals barked at us. We were extremely please with the owner and her possitive help for anything we needed. Made us feel welcomed and made our experience terrific. thanks again Buddy and Maggie and Mom&Dad
