Special!! Cypress Dunes Bordering MacKerricher State Park

- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This lovely home is at the end of a quiet lane, with over an acre of lawn, flowers, and a wide variety of fruit and evergreen trees, and best of all, right next door to the beautiful beaches and dunes of Mackerricher State Park. By walking up an easy trail from the yard, you gain access to miles of secluded beaches and breathtaking vistas. The wildlife is wonderful... early in the morning there are deer and jackrabbits, throughout the day hawks, osprey and sea-birds are plentiful, including the rare snowy plovers running along the edge of the water.
The walk across the dunes from the house to the ocean is about 1/4 mile and takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on your pace. Once you reach the beach you can head south and hike a couple miles to the tide pools. If you head north a couple miles you arrive at the outlet of ten mile river… this is a good area to look for seals. Just north of the river are fascinating rock formations with tunnels and arches and lots of mussels.
Watching the sunset from the dunes is spectacular and afterward, it's just short walk back to the comforts of your vacation home. Sitting on the deck, you can hear the sounds of the surf in the distance.
Cooking dinner at home is a pleasure with the well-equipped kitchen and barbecue. As the moist salt breezes cool the evening air, you can relax by the fire or in the luxurious privacy of the large hot tub on the back deck.
A wide variety of shops, galleries, restaurants and tourist attractions such as the Botanical Gardens and the Skunk Train are just a short drive south in Fort Bragg and Mendocino. The Mendocino county area also has a growing variety of cultural and recreational activities available with details available at the house. You're welcome to call or write for more info via phone or email.

The description and previous comments provide a pretty accurate picture of what one can expect with respect to the house, location etc. Cypress Dunes is well stocked as a vacation rental, with games, movies, books and everything that I can think off needing. Its location right next to the sand dunes was great - for we enjoyed climbing on the dunes and exploring it. The spa was a great way to end the day - sitting and relaxing under the starry skies. The owner was very helpful and communicative before, during and after the stay. We definitely recommend this place.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Lovely, charming, cozy and clean. What more is required? The description by owners is accurate, but they didn't mention the ripe cherry plums in August. Our family had a swell time and this will be our go to place in Fort Bragg.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.

The house was just as descibed. My husband and I spent 3 days in July and were totally relaxed when we left. There's a nice open grassy area to play frisbee or volleyball on and the trail to the beach begins right at the house. We hope to return soon!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This was my family's third time staying at Cypress Dunes. Once again we had a fabulous time and can't wait to come back! The owner's keep their home clean, inviting and well stocked; you only need to bring food and clothing, everything else is there waiting for you. My husband, three children and myself fit comfortably here and the proximity to the dunes and Ten Mile beach is very close. The hot tub is a nice amenity and quite welcome after hiking over the dunes!! The only sad part was having to leave and come back to the 110 degree weather here in Sacramento. We can't wait to come back and will definitely stay here many, many more times. :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This is a wonderful, cozy house that is clean, well equipped and maintained. The owner obviously wants her guests to feel comfortable. There were little extra touches like fresh flowers on the table when we arrived. The kitchen had all the necessities and a few staples. There were videos and games available and the internet connection was strong and reliable. The house is just steps away from the dunes which was like a big sandbox to our 13 year old son. It was good exercise to walk to the beach everyday over the dunes. You feel like you have the beach and dunes to yourself. The beach is large and you can walk for miles barely seeing anyone. The location is very convenient to Fort Bragg and Mendocino. I would not hesitate to recommend this house and I would definitely consider staying here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Lovely dunes (a lot of them!) make for a brisk walk to the water. Stayed one week early April...even rain & wind didn't deter us! Stars at night by the millions...hot tub on large deck is very nice late evenings; woodstove for rustic warmth. Easy ride back to Ft Bragg for supplies or fun shopping. Found a saloon open since 1896; only bldg to survive 1906 quake! Will return for comfy beds and the glorious Mendocino coast! What a magnificent find! We stayed here Nov. 16th-20th, 2011. You hear the sound of the ocean across the dunes. Deer come in the early morning nibbling on the fallen apples in the yard. The hot tub was fabulous and relaxing! All the amenities you could ask for are there! The location is private yet located conveniently just north of Ft. Bragg. The owner is one of the nicest ladies we have had the pleasure of renting from and plan to do so again! Thank you for an awesome place to stay!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was a surprise. It had everything we needed for a nice, relaxing time on the coast with our dog. Very quiet neighborhood, large yard, great walk to the dunes and beach. The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was evident that the owners tried hard to think of ways to make their guests comfortable.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I had a pleasant very quiet stay at cozy Cypress Dunes. We saw deer, quail and enormous ravens. The nearby Dunes and panoramas were exquisite. Lucky for us, the wild berries were in abundance and they were delicious. V'Canto's in town was a find with superb manicotti on the menu.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+.
