My wife, 2 dogs, and I had the pleasure of staying in this cottage while vacationing in the Asheville area. The cottage was clean and included everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The small koi pond with the small waterfall out front was great along with the lake with small deck for fishing in back! It's about 25 mins away from downtown Asheville and a short drive to Hendersonville and Brevard. It's also conveniently located to a gas station and grocery store, but far away from everything to make you feel like you're out in the country! Thanks Jeff for a great place to stay while on vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We were very comfortable in our rental. It was a convenient location for a family event in the area. The lake was beautiful and the baby geese were so much fun to watch.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

This continues to be a wonderful place to stay. The location is great; within close proximity to the area's great attractions. We found the cottage to be clean and relaxing, and the owners made us feel very welcome during our stay. We enjoyed the ducks and the Canada geese; their antics were quite entertaining. The nearby waterfalls, white squirrels, leaf peeping and shopping kept us busy. We highly recommend this cottage.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Pros: Square Footage, Price, Location, Cons: Owner cancelled our original reservation (double booked), so we had to rearrange our travel plans. On arrival at 4:30 pm the cabin was not ready, the owner admitted he did not remember the new reservation and was not ready. We had to finish washing and drying the towels, and make some of the beds. In their hurry to “prepare” the cabin they put wet blankets on the pullout bed. The television was not working. Owner’s nephew and small child stayed in the cabin on our cell phone until after 9 pm trying to repair it. The cabin was dirty: severely stained carpet, cigarette butts in the sink, hair in the bed linen, hair in the showers, hair on the couch and on the floor, food wrappers in and under the furniture, and the air filters Ugh! The kitchen was plagued with black ants and the porches were covered in spider webs. The fire pit was covered in yard waste, both grills were filthy containing the remains of last use, the paddle boat was filthy and full of rain water, we cleaned and repaired every “amenity” we used. The upstairs commode tank leaks and the dishwasher worked poorly. The porches and decking have loose boards and exposed nails. We were a party of nine and could not make other arrangements once we were there. There is no pride of ownership here. Honestly- Look for something else.Did you find this review helpful? We have rented a lot of vacation homes but enjoyed this to the max! Where else can you walk out your door and onto the dock and catch fish whenever you want? The house was clean, well stocked and very comfortable. Randi and john will be coming back to this one if they will have us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

There should be a zero star rating alternative, because one star is even too high for this rating. Awful experience. Cabin was dirty when we arrived, had to wait around until a cursory clean-up job was done. Sheets in foldout beds were not changed, trash left under beds. Overall cabin was dingy and dirty, poorly maintained. Stained walls, doors that didn't shut properly, appliances that didn't work well. No toilet paper, not enough CLEAN linens, not enough blankets. No instructions left for WiFi--a minor inconvenience compared to the rest of the shortcomings. Owner suggested to issue a "discount," which I guess meant some kind of refund, since cabin had been paid for in advance already, but to-date, nothing has been received. No further contact has been made, even after letter was left upon our departure. Very disappointed. Almost ruined our New Year's celebration with our kids. I wholeheartedly DO NOT RECOMMEND staying at this house.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/6

I'm sorry to give a bad review of this property. This was supposed.to be a fun family celebration that got off to a poor start. First, the cabin had not been cleaned when we arrived. It was in a ghastly state. When I contacted the owner, be expressed surprise at the fact that we had arrived, despite the fact that we had already paid for the entire stay, with a receipt to prove it. So we had to wait around for 2 hours, with my kids with spouses due to arrive from two different locations! Needless to say this derailed our plans for a pleasant reunion considerably. As far as the cabin, once it was eventually cleaned--quite haphazardly, I might add--it left MUCH to be desired. Half the appliances didn't work properly, some light bulbs were burned out, there was NO toilet paper left, not enough linen left out for the number of people in our party (6), there was trash leff under beds, and we felt compelled to wash all the linens before using the beds, because everything just looked dirty and dingy, and the level of trust had gone down considerably by then; there was poor maintenance in general. There were stains on the walls and ceilings, the doors didn't shut properly, etc. The property was not accurately represented in the description or photos. The living space was cramped, there was no place to dine, and not enough chairs cfor 6 adults to sit comfortably to a meal, or just to visit. The photos didn't do justice to the dinginess of the house in general. The only facility that looked "decent" was the downstairs bathroom, which was spacious & new. The owner promised to give us a "discount" for our discomfort upon arrival, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll be surprised if it materializes. In closing, I have only one thing to say: DON'T RENT THIS PROPERTY!Owner response: I am the owner of this property and I would like to respond to your review! There were renters in the cottage which left the same day that you arrived. Check in time is 4:00. You arrived early and the cottage was not clean. I personally with help cleaned the cottage and was finished by 4:30. You were not there when we arrived or when we left. I tried to call you to let you know that the cottage was ready but you did not answer. I left you a message. I don't know which appliances did not work, all of them do work. I will check to see which light bulbs were burnt out. As far as the toilet paper, there were 4 rolls in the cabinet in the bathroom. You were there for only 2 days and 4 rolls should have been plenty. There is extra linen in the bath closet and the bedroom closet for the hid-a-beds. After you called me the fist morning you were there, I stopped by to make sure you had plenty of linen. I did not look under the beds so I can't say anything about the trash but I apologize. As far as the linen on the beds, I assure you that they were clean, I help change them myself. The stains on the walls and ceiling is just normal wear and tear. The cottage is rented almost 200 days a year. There is a lot of pictures on the web site that shows all the rooms in the cottage and a full description. As far as a place to dine, there is a bar that will seat 2, 4 TV trays and a coffee table which is large enough for 2. I apologize for any discomfort that you experienced. I am offering you a free 2 night stay up on availability. Looking forward to hearing from you!

My family rented the Cottage for my dad's 80th b'day and family reunion. My parents live in Brevard. We had family come from NJ,VA,MO,and NC. The place was perfect. We had young children that had a blast fishing and going on the paddleboat and feeding the ducks. The adults enjoyed the fishing too. Also sitting out on the great decks and enjoying the views. The covered deck was perfect for dad's b'day party since it was on the lower level. Both my parents have difficulty walking so the deck near the driveway was perfect. We enjoyed the huge grill and the kids loved the jetted tub! We will definatly rent this place again. Also, Jeff was very pleasant to deal with :) Sue G.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

Property is located very close to Hwy with hwy noise almost at all hours. Paddle boat isn't working properly and has a leak. The heat did not work when we arrived so my husband had to diagnose problem (He is an HVAC tech) and we had to wait for someone to come. We discovered that night that The bed downstairs had dirty sheets (wrinkled and debris including various types of hair). The bathtubs were very dirty and included hair and mold, a lot of mold! I am very disappointed that I had to spend so much of my vacation cleaning and doing laundry!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/6
