Keywords: Luxury 1 bedroom Apartment, Lisbon City Break, Chiado Apartment, City Views, City Center, Apartment with a Balcony
This city center modern apartment is set in a recently rebuilt building in old historic Lisbon.
This bright, daylight filled, 4th floor apartment is located on Rua Garrett, one of the most important streets of historic Lisbon, has a privilege situation in the heart of the cultural and historical part of the city (Chiado).
Very close to several museums, operas, theaters and churches. A few minutes walk takes you to the Rossio, in the Baixa, and to the Elevador da Lavra. The other direction, you will reach the Praça do Comércio, which is located in the center of the Portuguese old empire near the river Tejo (Tagus). To go to Sintra or to Óbidos you must catch the train at Entre-Campos train station, which is just a short subway trip from Chiado.
Chiado is considered the most beautiful area of historical Lisbon. It was a place of residence of the Portuguese royalty and of the political and cultural elites. Nearby is the theater S. Luis and the opera D. Carlos.
Close to shops, restaurants, cafes, banks, cash machine, public transportation (subway and electric trams) and 24 hour taxi stands, etc.
A little further up on the left is Camões Square (Praça de Camões), next to Bairro Alto, picturesque but raffish; part of Lisbon's nightlife seems to be concentrated in this quarter, which was frequented to hear the sentimental 'fados' sung in certain restaurants and cafés. Chiado and Bairro Alto are "the" meeting point for locals and tourists, with elegant hotels, old cafés, and the best international fashion shops nearby.
Lisbon Sightseeing - It operates both open-top bus tours and tourist trams. Both run from the Praça do Comércio. Bus trips are the 'Circuito Tejo', which goes out to Belém as well as other parts of the city, or the (Expresso Oriente' which visits the Parque das Nações. The tram does the 'Circuito das Colinas' (Hill Circuit) which embraces the 28 route through Alfama.
It also visits Estrela to the west of the city. Whilst costly, the advantage of the tourist tram is the audio guided tour and the fact that you will get a seat and not have to stand. Also, the historic trams are decked out in 'historic' upholstery and fittings. Trams also operate a Circuito dos Descobrimentos to Belém.
Accommodation comprises one bedroom with a queen size bed, living room with dining and sitting areas, one full bathroom and fully equipped kitchenette. The apartment has air-conditioning and central heating in all the rooms. This privileged location offers easy access by foot to the subway (Chiado/Baixa station – 50 m).
We will welcome you with a nice bottle of wine, coffee and tea ready for you and some biscuits.

A real gem in wonderful Lisbon

This was our first time to visit Lisbon as well as our first time in renting an apartment (as opposed to staying at hotels). On both counts, we were pleasantly surprised! It was extremely easy and hassle free to deal with Paulo, the owner of this apartment. He was responsive to all our questions and accommodated our requests. Sylvia, the lady who met us upon arrival, showed true Lisbon hospitality - gave us lots of tips and recommendations, booked our taxi for our departure date, and even answered quirky questions about shopping locations. The apartment was spotless, brighly lit and well stocked with kitchen utensils, ironing board, etc.. With its high ceilings, you get the feeling of a very spacious apartment for two people. Given that it was quite hot when we were there, we very much appreciated the AC units in both the living room and the bedroom. The location of the apartment was perfect - it's right smack in an upscale area of Lisbon with a bakery, ice cream shop, lots of shopping and the historic Cafe A Brasileira just outside your doorstep. As first time visitors, we really liked the fact that we could literally walk to many of the sights that Lisbon has to offer from our central location. While you are right in the middle of the action, it was easy enough to get some peace and quiet by closing the balcony doors and another set of indoor shutters - outdoor noise was never a concern. We loved the vibe of Lisbon and plan to return again someday. We would not think twice in staying again in this gem of an apartment and would highly recommend it to others. Obrigada.

The apartment was true to its advertisement. It is on fashionable, busy street of Lisbon, but once upstairs it is remarkably quiet. The apartment itself is well finished and equiped, and clean. The bed is a bit hard, but the room makes up for it with outstanding blinds. If you are a light sleeper, this is the place: the night is as dark as it is quiet. The bathroom has all the amenities, but the lights in it are a bit dim if you're fussy with makeup. The apartment is in the neighbourhhood of Chiado, and it is ideal. You're near the subway, near the hubs of the Rossio and the Commercio, near the post office, grocery store, the famous streetcar #28, what-have-you. Some of the best restaurants are only a few steps away in the Alto Barrio, as is the Largo de Carmo, the charming square that faces the ruins of the Carmelite convent. Paulo and Silvia were great hosts, making sure we had everything we needed (though the apartment could use a bigger frying pan!). We were there for 10 days and regretted not a second. As users of VRBO for almost a decade now, this apartment ranks as one of the very best in terms of value for money, location, amentiies and quiet.

This delightful apartment is in the middle of shopping, restaurants and life in downtown Lisbon. The description and pictures shown are accurate but the apartment is even better in person. We could look out from our balcony to the pastry shop where we got our breakfast. We could walk out the door, look left to the vertical shopping mall with 6th floor food court that with the exception of McD's reflects Portuguese cooking. We could look right up to the Camoes Square where we caught Tram 28 (take this to see the whole downtown area first so you get an idea of the old city), passing La Brasiliera Cafe on our way. And off Camoes are dozens of wonderful restaurants. We could walk to Rossio Square for the Metro and the trolleys. We could walk down to Rua Augusta for a pedestrian mall in this city of small shopkeepers who have so much to offer. We had street music, especially in the late afternoons. And there's an elevator to the 4th floor! Silvia who met us at the apartment, guiding us there after we got off track walking in the neighborhood from Rossio, is full of information and advice. She seemed to know just what travelers need to know. The apartment is spotless and modern. Paulo is quickly responsive to any concern but we had almost none. Lisbon generally is a friendly and warm place; we made friends there who invited us to dinner our last night where we ate at a restaurant near Camoes that was frequented by locals. There are not enough stars to reflect how much we loved the apartment and Lisbon.

We were very impressed with the communication with Paulo when booking this apartment and with Silvia when checking in. The building is in a great part of Lisbon - a popular area but still quiet in the apartment. Clean and comfortable and what we expected from the photos. Thank you for a lovely stay - we will definitely return!

This place was perfect! It was clean and just as described. It has secured entrance foyer from the street and a good lock on the door. But I did not feel uneasy at any location while traveling in Portugal. We had 3 adults in our travels and the sleeping arrangements worked well for us. The master bed was firm and huge! I heard no complaints from our friend on the Sofa bed. This central location is only a few minutes walk to every metro, train or tram that one needs while traveling in Lisbon or Portugal.Silvia, our greeter and assistance was very kind and helpful. A true doll of a woman I might add. She even found us information on the bus schedule that Monday for our trip to Evora. The kitchen is well supplied with anything that you’ll need. (even a coffee starter kit if need be before you make it to the market.) The market is 5 minutes away and one can load up on wine, cheese, fresh bread and a three day supply of fruit for about 20 or 25 Euro. All of the communications and transfer of funds with Paulo went smooth. We needed him to create some invoice papers for us as we had a friend needing to apply for a tourist visa. It was no Problem with Paulo. This apartment was a good choice for us. I spoke to some others who were closer to the square and the Arch near the river front. No Air conditioner and the streets get loud at night. Paulo’s place has a Good AC and the French doors close up nice & tight. They can make it dark as well. My travelers’ tip?-1st: Lisbon cards?: They can help you save a few Dollars if you are ready run into one attraction and then run to another. If not, you might want to think about it. At most of the attractions we visited for at least 2 to 4 hours. Plan ahead and plan wise.-2nd: Good Resturants in Lisbon can be pricy. $35 to $45 USD a plate. Stay away from the Buffets! Unless you are the Buffet kind of eater They are for lunch only in my opinion. Get out of the City for the good deals.-3rd: In our 10 day trip we spent 3 days hitting the attraction hard in Lisbon & Belem and it was enough.Get out and see more because there is so much more to see. Evora! Ride through the country, see the vineyards and Olive groves. Sintra! Give yourself 2 days there. We visited Cascais 2 times by a 20 minute train ride.. The beach and town are the bomb! You must visit “Cascais Brisa Bar” The best Salmon I have ever had! 9euro. Outside of Lisbon, learn a few words of the language as a respect to the elders when trading and comunicating. Peace!

My husband and I stayed in Paulo's apartment in Lisbon. The apartment is beautifully renovated, immaculately cleaned and in a very convenient location. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Lisbon. It is the best apartment we have stayed in during our travels.

Lisboa is charming, and staying at Rua Garret was a good choice! The location is excellent - even a small backery is just round the corner - if your kids are still in bed-serves fresh "bolos" and quick coffee downstairs. The property is well maintained - pritty small but comfortable and well equipped. Quiet - even thou you're in the heart of the city. Our host was very helpful and communicative - gave us some good tips. Actually, we would recommend it for a stay to everybody. One star less because when the sofa in the sitting room is opened - there is no room at all - but for a few days one can survive it.. :-)

We enjoyed staying at this apartment as it was clean, neat, quiet, safe and was close to where we wanted to be. We found it perfect for a couple and maybe one small child but a little too small for four adults. The pull-out sofa was OK but when pulled out took up most of the living room. We would stay again and would reccommend the apartment to friends.

We rented this property for a few days during New Year's and it was the perfect location. We were in the middle of it all -- in walking distance to great shops and restaurants. Public transportation, taxis, and the metro are easily accessible. The apartment itself was clean and very user friendly i.e. well stocked kitchen and working with property owner was very easy. He was prompt with our transaction and answered all of our questions with great professionalism. I highly recommend this property. You won't regret your choice to stay here.

Location is great, apartment is clean and well -maintainded, the owner was helpful in answering our questions, there are a lot of attractions, restaurants, stores, bookshop, etc.....nearby. Don't miss Cervejaria Trindade(http://www.cervejariatrindade.pt/). There is just one negative point about the apartment, the bed needs a new mattress.
