Brewers Bay house description
Villa Margarita is located in the private small gated community of Green Bank Estate. The villa property is know for it's lush vegetation, including coconuts, bananas, and tropical flowers. The home was designed by prominent architect Michael Arneborg whose speciality is authentic West Indies Design. The Villa has all the conveniences of modern life and was built to maximise the panoramic 180* views of beautiful Brewers Bay, Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay as well as other Islands, Beaches and Mountains. The Villa was specifically designed to capture the tropical breezes and trade winds of Caribbean Sea. To make your stay more comfortable we have A/C units in all three bedrooms, the games room/bar area and the indoor living room.
As you enter off the estate road through the stone columns and gates you will note there is plenty of room to park and turn around.
Villa Margarita can be described as casual elegance in a peaceful setting that awards rest, relaxation, privacy and fun. There is old world natural stone through-out including two natural stone outside showers. All floors have imported stone tile from Turkey or natural hardwood. The Villa is conveniently located, only 10 minutes to two of the best beaches on Tortola and 10 minutes to the city of Road Town with it's many restaurants.
The villa consists of three separate pavilions surrounded by a 2500' pool deck. There is a large alfresco dining and living varendah with all teak furniture. Villa Margarita is an excellent vacation home for families, or three couples who wish to have fun with friends. Great also for a single couple who appericate luxury along with peace, quiet and privacy. Villa Margarita is very spacious and has porches for every bedroom, all with great ocean views. Games Room has a full size billard table and full size air hockey table, darts and a Pirate Bar.
Solar back up power if the power goes out. The villa is easy to access, no four wheel drive is necessary. The swimming pool is 12' x 32' and ranges from 3' to 6' with steps at the shallow end and a bench seat at the deep end. We keep a supply of pool toys on hand for fun too. We have beach chairs, beach towels, coolers and a ice machine to fill those coolers with plenty of ice,
At arrival, you will be greeted by the owners Tom or Cindy at the Beef Island Airport or Road town Ferry dock, and escorted up to Villa Margarita for your orentation. The airport is only twenty five minutes away. The Ferry dock is only 10 minutes. Many of our guests fly into St Thomas and take the ferry over to Tortola. You need to arrive in St Thomas by 3:30 to catch the 4:15 ferry. the ferry is about $50 round trip and takes 1 hour. We can help you arrange a rental car and recommend day trips, day sails and restaurants.
Tortola, called 'Natures Little Secret' has many beaches and restaurants to explore. You may enjoy a day-sail through the blue waters of the islands and snorkeling in one of our calm bays. The Scuba Diving is amazing, we have the wreck of the Rhone. We have three beaches where you can enjoy/or watch, surfing. You can also take a free ferry to a nice lunch spot on the small island of Marina Cay, where the breeze is constant and the view is so relaxing you won't want to leave. There is also a day trip to the Virgin Gorda Baths including taxi, lunch and a rum punch all for $48 all our guests enjoy that unique fun day trip with it's beautiful beaches and snorkeling.
There is a wonderful short ferry trip to the Island of Jost Van Dyke where you can enjoy the day at White Bay and lunch at the famous Soggie Dollar Bar enjoying their signature drink the Pain Killer and visit Foxy's. Kenny Chesney loves Jost Van Dyke and wrote a song about a blue chair he used to sit in while at the beach. There is also a day trip to Virgin Gorda and the world famous Baths, beautiful beaches, trails and grotto's, along with snorkeling through the hugh bolder formations. You will also love taking a day sail around Tortola visiting many Islands and snorkel/dive spots.
Tortola also has a swim with the Dolphin's program that is fun for young and old alike.
Cane Garden Bay,only 10 minutes drive, always has music and plenty of restaurants and a beautiful white sand beach. Brewers Bay great for snorkeling with a quaint beach bar is also a 10 minute drive. We know you will really be able to relax and enjoy yourself on Tortola and at the Villa. Plenty of restaurants too. The Caribbean people are friendly and the crime rate is one of the lowest in all the Caribbean.
Villa Margarita and it's gracious hosts, Thomas and Cindy Grimes will make your island stay an unforgettable experience to be cherished for a lifetime. Please read the comments from past guests. We welcome any questions you may have and can recommend restaurants and activities. We are usually on Tortola and if an issue comes up we are there to offer assistance or get the problem fixed ASAP. That's what real customer service is. A great price with a great product and only good surprises, we hope you will join us.
When you arrive at our Villa you will find a current issue of the Welcome magazine, Restaurant guide. We hope you will find your pleasure here at Villa Margarita!

Great place, reviews are spot on. Surprised the wife for a little "land R&R" after spending a week on a yacht charter in BVI. Needless to say, she was stunned when we pulled up to the house - the view is truly amazing. The pictures really don't do it justice. This home is like a mini private compound with 3 separate buildings, cozily nuzzled around the beautiful pool. Very peaceful and quiet. Decorated beautifully with all the amenities we needed. Very relaxing, especially after having to navigate the winding roads of Tortola (you'll see). Right up the road from Cane Grdn Bay, which was nice to hang out without going too far. This place must be great to have a whole family vacation, we're going to try and come back. Sitting by the pool, reading a book and listening to reggae in front of the ridiculous view - not much better than that! We highly recommend Villa Margarita, and Tom couldn't be more accomodating & nice.

On top of the world!
On top of the world!
There is no better way to escape the worst winter of recent memory than to spend some time in Tortola, and no better spot than Villa Margarita. Everything has been thought of. All you need is a couple of bathing suits, a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, flip flops, and a camera and you will be ready for anything. This beautifully appointed villa, while at the top of the mountain, is within easy reach of many beaches, restaurants, marinas, etc. Yes, get a 4WD, go provisioning so you can fix dinners at home. You will not want to leave once you see the sun set over the western sky. We planned our dinners "in" on the days we went on excursions because after a day on the water, nothing is better than to come back to an awesome outdoor stone shower followed by a painkiller on the deck! Sailing/snorkeling excursions included White Bay on Jost Van Dyke and the Baths at Virgin Gorda. We sailed on the Mystique and loved it, although i think we would have been happier at VG if we had just taken the ferry so we could have had more time there. Do not sail to Virgin Gorda from Sopers Hole...it just takes too long. Lesson learned. We also visited Long Bay Beach (by the airport) which was stunningly gorgeous, Trellis Bay (love Aragorn's Studio and Trellis Bay Cafe), Smuggler's Cove (GREAT beach and snorkeling but bring your own food and bevs), Cane Garden Bay, Bomba Shack, Myett's, Bananakeet, and Brandywine Estate. I could gush on and on about the beauty of the villa itself but everyone already has. Just know that you will be pleasantly surprised by the amenities...down to the last detail. Plenty of great cookware and utensils, top of the line appliances, nice beach towels, fun game room/bar, gorgeous pool (which was a little too cold for us to actually swim in but it was darn pretty to look at), all surrounded by lush landscaping and stunning views. What more could you ask for? Just go. You know you want to!

Owner response: Dear Laura and Friends, Tom and I are so pleased you had a wonderful get-a-way from the cold and enjoyed all the sites that make Tortola so special. Thank you for expressing how much you enjoyed your vacation, and Villa Margarita. We checked on the pool heating system and found it was faulty, and would like to offer you a one night free stay in the future. Thanks Again, Thomas and Cindy Grimes
We visited Tortola to celebrate my in-laws 40th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. When we arrived Tom was there to show us the beautiful house, how to pick bananas off the tree right outside the door (made banana's foster-yum) and answer any questions we had. The house is fantastic! Pictures do not do it justice. There is everything you could possibly need to have a great time at the house and to explore the island. We really loved the pool and the game house! The dining area is great, open air so we could enjoy the beautiful island breeze. We spent a lot of time exploring the island and found out that it is a real adventure to get to the best beaches and SOOOO worth it! Tom and Cindy were so helpful, making great suggestions for places to eat, beaches to go to and even fixing the door knob when we got a little rambunctious! We will DEFINITELY come back! Thank You Tom and Cindy for being so hospitable, we made some real friends for life!

Second Stay - Just as wonderful!!
3 retired couples, our second stay on the back end of week long sail trip. Just as fabulous the second time. The photos do not do this beautiful, comfortable property justice. Tom and Cindy have thought of everything. They are minutes away and completely accomodating of requests, assistance, and questions. Amenities make you wonder why you would ever leave for a day trip!!!! Perfect for a couple, groups, families with young children. Our favorite restaurant, Banakeet's, spectacular views, great serviced, outstanding food. Trust the reviews, they are spot on!!!!!

Luxury witha View!
Luxury witha View!
We visited Villa Margarita for our 10th anniversary. We have stayed in many villas over the years, but this is our favorite so far! The pictures simply do not do it justice. The views are spectacular and the villa is well layed out and built with comfort and relaxation in mind. The owners, Tom and Cindy have thought of everything. Cindy met us at the airport and when we had a mix up with our rental car, took us to the grocery, got us settled in and Tom took us to the other side of the island to get our car the next day. They could not have been more accommodating and very, very nice people and their home reflects their warmth and personality. We loved the pool and spent most afternoons lazing away. The pool table was a lot of fun as well. The pirate bar is very cute. We loved the veranda off the master bedroom, lovely views from there, especially the full moon setting over Jost, breathtaking enough to wake up the spouse at 6am. Spent some time at Myatts in Cane Garden Bay, gorgeous sunsets, cold drinks and good food. If you are planning a vacation to Tortola, we could not recommend a better place to stay. Whenever we go back, we will definitely make Villa Margarita our destination. The Werts

My favorite Carribean vacation ever! Villa Margarita is in a great location, just far enough to be private but still within 10 minutes of Roadtown (shops, restaurants,,etc...) Tom met us at the dock and helped us with the arrangements of a rental car (which was really nice to have- make sure it is a 4 wheel drive!), then led us to the house and oriented us to the house. The house is beautiful, especially the outdoor living spaces where we spent all of our time. The house is very clean and well stocked with everything you need except your groceries. (though that can be done at your request) The views are breath-taking at the house!!! The property consists of 3 buildings. The den, kitchen and large outdoor living space is at one building. The master bedroom is in the second building above a large game room. The other two bedrooms are in a third building. Very private. The island is small so its easy to explore and learn your way around. We ventured out for all our meals. Our favorite was Bananakeet at Carrot Bay for its delicious food and spectacular sunset views. Try Swimming with the Dolphins and the scuba quick course (We Be Diving) in Roadtown. The Baths at Virgin Gorda was great! Be sure to take a tour of Virgin Gorda and check out secluded Hog Heaven Bar and Grill with its beautiful view of Sound Bay and Neckker Island. We definitely plan to return to Tortola and Villa Margarita!!!!! I would be happy just staying at the house all week!!!

Million $ view with every need satisfied
Million $ view with every need satisfied
Fabulous property with every amenity you can imagine. We spent the better part of a week at the Villa Margarita this June. The villa is broken up into three buildings with a marvelous bar and game room under the master suite. All three buildings surround the fresh water pool and have spectacular views of both Brewers and Cane Garden Bay with Sandy Cay and Jost Van Dyke in the distance. While the setting is extremely private, you're never very far from anywhere. After a week on board a sail boat including an anchorage in Brewers Bay it was fun to look back down on that same beautiful bay from the mountain top above. Villa Margarita was the perfect compliment to our BVI experience. To have all of the amenities of home, communcation with the outside world (when we wanted) and some simple game room diversions helped to ease us back towards reality before heading home.

Should be 'Villa Nirvana"
Should be 'Villa Nirvana"
We have rented villas all over the Caribbean, in the US and in Europe and Villa Margarita is without question over the top. Location? 10-15 minutes to Roadtown, Brewers Bay and Cane Garden Bay - less to Sage Mountain. View? Better than the pictures. Amenities - If we needed something it was there. We wanted for nothing. Even had a crisper to keep breads and crackers fresh. Decor? Beautifully appointed with a nice blend of tropical feel, quality construction and construction materials and open layout. Responsive owner? A phone call away with advice or to handle any issues. Perfect for families with kids or three couples. Privacy? Almost absolute. Did I mention that everything in the villa was clean and fresh?Recommendation? If you want a new standard in luxury rentals, don’t miss this one!

Villa Margarita is Amazing !
Villa Margarita is Amazing !
I have never seen a less than 5-star review for Villa Margarita and now I know why. . .there is just nothing missing from making this the best vacation home we've ever encountered. Each appliance, amenity, furnishing, toy, etc is highest quality professional stuff! If anything, we were surprised at how big it was inside and out. I don't think the pictures show how much space there is. I won't repeat all the great, specific comments you see in the other reviews, but if you are in Tortola and need a 3+ bedroom villa, don't hesitate, and book this fabulous property, it's the best you'll find anywhere. The owners have given this place everything you could need or want and a bunch of stuff you didn't think of to enjoy a great, carefree week on Tortola with plenty of space for a sizable group. Tortola high points: you have to do the Baths at Virgin Gorda . . awesome and fun. All the Tortola beaches are beautiful and have their unique charms, our faves include Brewer's for snorkeling and Josiah for playing in the waves. Smuggler's cove is particularly nice as well. We can't say much about island restaurants since Villa Margarita was so nice, we bought groceries and cooked at "home" since we couldn't wait to return each evening after island/beach hopping all day.

About the owner: Thomas, Cindy, and daughter Allison. We sold our plantation shutter manufacturing company in South Florida and moved to Tortola in 2004. Semi-retired we rent out our villa for income and enjoy it ourselves when we it is not rented. We love Tortola becuse of it's non-commercial and friendly atmosphere. The warm breezes of the Caribbean are constant and the ocean waters are blue and crystal clear. Villa Margarita was designed to maximise outdoor living. We used only high end finishes and added our own touches to make the house unique. We have always worked in the service industry and we know how to take great care of our guests. It took about three years to finish the construction as it's very complex and well built. Everyone says the pictures don't do it justice. We hope you will join us for your next vacation with family or friends. The Grimes
Why the Owner Chose Brewers Bay:
The view from Villa Margarita is amazing. You see different Islands, coral heads coming up right in the bay below and the different shades of blue ocean and beyond that can't be found anywhere else. It's the finest estate on the Island. Tortola is peaceful, beautiful and safe. The Island people are very friendly and respectful. The population is mostly West Indian and British with American tourists. The American dollar is the local currency and English is the main language, that makes it easy. There are many white sandy beaches to explore. The Ocean is warm, crystal clear and blue. There is a brand new modern airport and it has easy access to the US. An alternate route is flying into St. Thomas and taking the Ferry to Road Town this adds about $75.00 to the cost of the flight. The ferry is about 1 hour. We hope all this information has been helpful. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns or additonal photos. Tom and Cindy
