    We were very happy with this condo, complex and floor plan. This is our second stay in this unit. Our family has stayed in the Makena area for 25+ years. This condominium is our favorite spot, especially since the main living areas and kitchen have been tastefully remodeled. Fresh paint and new floors throughout make it feel almost new. The beds and bedding have not yet been upgraded, but remain adequate and comfortable. All is dwarfed, however, by the magnificent ocean-front views from inside as well as from two spacious lanais. There just isn't any bettter. The waves break on the small beach immediately below. My husband especially liked being in this top floor, end unit. There are stairs only, no elevator..The building is very close to the pool, beach and the well equipped barbeque area. There's plenty of patio seating and lounging furniture on the lanais, but no outside grill at the unit itself.. We found the 3 bedroom/3 bath layout wonderful as it provides privacy as well as an ensuite bathroom access for each bedroom. This open floor plan has worked extremely well for our family of up to five adults. Enough individual space in the bedrooms and lots of communal space. There are TV's in each bedroom and the living room. Also, we liked the music system in the great room area. The owner has provided a few CD's and a selection of books. We are very satisfied with our two visits to this unit and hope to return again. We have previously stayed in other acceptable units in this complex but this one continues to be our first choice. Makena itself is quiet and relaxed but with great access to everything imaginable in shopping, dining, golf and activity services in the Wailea resort 3 miles away. We also enjoyed the really relaxed town of Kihei about 5 miles away.

    We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival to find that the unit had been recently renovated - absolutely beautiful. The view from the lanai took our breath away. Love at first site! This was our first vacation to Maui and wow did we set the bar high. With 5 adults in our group this unit was laid out perfectly, with lots of space for everyone. The property was immaculately groomed from the pool areas to the herb gardens to the beaches. Our family especially enjoyed the little private beach in front of the condo where we swam with the turtles everyday. We will definitely be back to this island paradise!

    Amazing is an accurate description of the property and the view! The condo is in a great location. A very short walk to a larger beach area with more people. A very short walk to a smaller beach with very few people. Walk to the beach and snorkle with sea turtles and fish, watch the whales (if you are there when they are) and enjoy beautiful sun sets. The location of the condo provides easy access to the airport, restaurants, shopping, site-seeing departure sites. The condo is well furnished and beautifully maintained. A community pool and grill are associated with this condo. Our group included one teenager, two college students, and parents. Everyone had a wonderful time. If the younger crowd wanted more same aged kids around, they went to the larger beach. From the moment they walked into the condo, they had a great time - no complaints from any of them. The owner is easy to work with and very nice. No complaints at all, everything was wonderful! This is an amazing place to stay. We hope to return soon! Highly recommend the property!

    This condo is absolutely the best. We just spent 10 days with the family there (age range 10wks to 86yrs) and had a wonderful time. The lanai is a perfect spot for whale watching, sunset viewing and conch shell blowing. We would be so busy that we never did have dinner until about 8:00 p.m. The Makena Surf property is perfectly located on two great beaches. We snorkeled with the turtles, heard the whale's songs by going underwater, boogie boarded and made numerous sand castles and spent a lot of time washing sand off the kids at the outdoor showers. The gardens are beautiful and incredibly maintained. We used the herb garden and the bbq grills everyday. (always nice and clean) The condo had been updated since our stay in 2009 and is really nicely done. It is equipped with everything that we needed and more. The views from the living room and and the master bedroom are so pretty that it is hard to believe they are real. The housekeeping staff that came in during our stay was friendly and made sure we had everything that we needed. The owner, Patty, is super easy to deal with. We have communicated by email and over the phone and each time it was a pleasure. I'm so glad she shares this condo!

    This was our third visit to this beautiful Makena Surf condo, which has been perfect for the three generations of our family. Each time we return, we are impressed all over again by its beauty and luxury. The furnishings are comfortable yet elegant and stylish; there is a brand-new kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances. The condo, and the entire property, are maintained flawlessly, and the on-site staff is courteous and responsive. The owner is a delight to deal with, promptly and efficiently answering any questions or concerns. There is easy walkability to the pools, tennis court, and beaches, and easy accessibility to the hotels and many restaurants in Wailea. This year we spotted a pod of whales just off the beach -- thrilling! We spend hours on the wrap-around lanai, with its gorgeous west-facing views of the ocean, islands, and reef. Each night the children can be found on the lanai counting down the minutes until the the sun sets and then returning after dark to try to count the stars in the sky. All of us count the days until our next visit to this extraordinary, and extraordinarily beautiful, place.

    We normally don't write reviews, but this lovely Makena Surf 3-BR condo warrants a comment. It is indeed luxurious in every way -- from the new, large, and fully-equipped kitchen, to the private and well-appointed master suite, to the candle-light sunset dinners we had on the lanai: sunsets that are simply the most spectacular and beautiful in Hawaii. The McKena Surf staff are gracious and very responsive, the grounds (gardens, pool, and tennis) lush: the waves breaking below on an almost-private beach induce a peaceful sleep. Immediately off the beach is some of the best snorkeling in all of Maui--turtles and fish abound. We loved our stays in this condo (two times now--we have looked at other condos at the MaKena Surf and the general Wailea area, and this is by far the best unit in the best place to stay in all of south Maui).

    This condo had everything we desired! The beach right below was perfect for our kids to boogie board on and the other larger beach next door was wonderful too. We saw turtles snorkeling right below the condo most every day. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds comfortable. The rooms are situated nicely for a family so that the master bedroom still has some privacy. We loved the two decks with their amazing views of the water. The pool and jacuzzi are kept up nicely as well. The location is perfect, close enough to things, but not in the middle of it all. We loved being at the beach at Makena Surf (and we checked out many Maui beaches) because it was much less crowded than resort beaches and just as nice. We have already recommended this condo to others.

    Our family of 6 (4 kids ages 14-21) had a fabulous stay! The location was quiet, private and immediately accessible to the swimming pool, surf swimming, tennis courts on the grounds and some of the best snorkeling on the island. The onsite staff was professional and very helpful. Fantastic restaurants were located a brief drive to the north, and hikes a short drive south. Great walks and runs could be found just outside the condo complex. There was little reason to leave the condo, it had incredible views, with 2 beautiful lanais and plenty of space and comfortable seating throughout. Kitchen was well-equipped, we enjoyed cooking and eating at home (with fresh Maui produce from the farmer's market), while overlooking the ocean. Fun to watch the tour boats/kayaks arrive early AM where we too would soon head out to snorkel off the beach and swim with the turtles! Patty, the owner, is the most responsive and accommodating owner we have had the pleasure to do business with on VRBO. We hope to return soon and will recommend to our friends!

    This Condo at Makena Surf makes your "Vacation" to Maui your "Dream Vacation" to Maui. The condo is lovely, well maintained and a great location within the property. The lanai's are wonderful and the view from the lanai's breathtaking. The owner of this Condo at Makena Surf exceeded all expectation in making sure our visit to the condo was fabulous. We not only recommend the condo to all, but are looking forward to making reservations at Makena Surf on our next vacation to Maui.

    What part of PERFECT should I explain first? The graciousness of the owner, the beauty and comfort of the vacation home, the jaw dropping seascape view from the lanai all compete for the headline. I can tell you this, from our family's perspective the overall experience at Patty's Makena Surf home was all you could ever want or need. We are discerning travelers who are used to "casual luxury" travel and this trip met all of our expectations. There was a certain blend of ease and exactness to the process of reserving our time, and our check in to the property continued in the same mode. Then you open the door to the casual elegance of her home, did I mention the ocean front view? We pride ourselves on being pretty fair home chefs and every thing that one could need to turn out a great meal is at your finger tips. I cannot imagine a better backdrop for chopping and prepping dinner than the sunset view and the sounds of joyous conversation, A cocktail on the lanai, a game of scrabble near the bar, a rousing thirty minutes of laughter on a comfortable couch as we watch Modern Family.........did I mention the view? A word should be said that the property management was spot on; a broken beach chair was replaced quickly, the cleaning service was top notch and friendly, the concierge service was very helpful. I admit that we started with all the basics for a perfect vacation.....our family loves to travel together, but the value added of this wonderful vacation home took this trip over the top! If you are heading for Maui, then the south side is all you can ask for and if you are heading for the south side then it doesn't get better than this lovely vacation home and the owner who makes it all come together.

    I spent a beautiful week in this house in Makena. It took me three days to understand that Makena Surf (right on the sea with one beach in both sides and a nice snorkeling in between) is the nicest spot in the island. Then we adapted, and decided to stay most time in the house's proximity. The house is very nice, elegant rooms, a lot of space, the terrace right on the beach. We really enjoyed the place. I recommend it to people and maybe will be back one day.

    This was a wonderful place to stay with plenty of room for our family. All you need to bring is your swimsuit, shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops. Everything else is provided or easily available for your beach fun. We rented snorkel gear for the week. Snorkeling right off the beach was fabulous! The snorkel charter boats anchored nearby every morning after their stop at Molokini. The grounds are gorgeous, creating a real sense of privacy and very well maintained. Plenty of barbeques for grilling and the herb garden was a nice plus. The pictures totally reflect how lovely the condo is, and the red bird(s) visits every day. Biggest surprise was the view from the lanai off the living room! It took my breath away when we first walked in. You will not be disappointed.

    This is an amazing vacation spot! The condominium was perfect for our family. It was clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a family size of 4 or more. The location is unbeatable. The gardens are gorgeus. The beaches are second to none. So glad we found this place and we are already counting down the days to return next year.

    The pictures cannot begin to convey how wonderful this place is. It was spotlessly clean and maintained both inside the condo and the grounds. We loved our view from the balcony and the convenience of the beach. You don't have to go anywhere else on the island to enjoy a beautiful garden and beach. We could have swum to Turtle Town and snorkeled with the tutles from our beach. We loved watching the boats go to Molokini and the serene sunsets. The condo had all the amenities and was very comfortable. I highly recommend this place without any hesitations.

    We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at this absolutely beautiful property!! Incredible views from not one but two lanais, and a picture window in the master suite looking out to the ocean. The condo is spacious and beautifully appointed while remaining cozy and comfortable. Lovely kitchen as well. We loved staying at home so much, barbecue in herb garden right downstairs, we hardly left to go out to dinner, but the condo is located near a great many lovely restaurants. We enjoyed Joes and Gannons owned by Bev Gannon, a world renowned chef. Snorkeling and turtle watching, such great fun. I would recommend this spot to anyone wanting to spend a vacation in Maui, we can't wait to return!!!! Steve and Ellie Burnside Menlo Park,Ca.

    great place for vacation. property was clean and well maintained. beautiful view from the lanaii of the beach right below the condo. i would recommend this property to my friends and family. the beach is a 1 minute walk from your door. three world class golf courses right across the road. we go to maui every year and the makenna surf property is our favorite. it gated for security and has tennis courts, swimming pools, hot tubs, and the beach. hard to beat.

    When we arrived, everything was just perfect. The place is fantastic, with everything that one needs to to enjoy ones vacation. Family of 6 loved every moment of our stay. Just to sit on the balcony and look at the view was a treat. Jumping humbacks whales, swimming among the turtles, walking early in the morning along the beach was all new to us. Coming from Iceland -you can imagine what a treat.We will come back.

    Our family had a wonderful vacation at this condo. The oceanfront location was just steps away from 2 beaches and the panoramic views from the lanais made for many spectacular sunsets. There were a number of activities to keep every member of our family happy: snorkeling, boogie boarding, tennis, golf, swimming or just relaxing on the sandy beaches! The condo is well appointed, spacious and very clean. The complex even has a convenient grill area and herb garden for guests to use. Overall, you will not be disappointed if you stay at Mekena Surf. You'll enjoy a bit of paradise in Maui!

    This condo is absolutely wonderful! 3 great bedrooms with comfortable beds - each with a TV and each with its own bathroom. When entering the condo, you walk through the front door and into the gorgeous, spacious, open living room / dining room / kitchen area - where the one wall is just windows! Sliding doors across the whole of the wall that open up on to a great porch, overlooking the Maui coastline with a spectacular view of the ocean! And I mean, spectacular! Those sunsets! Just unreal. The complex has two great pools and spas, and a large, quiet beach. There is an herb garden and public grill that you can use, as well as a tennis court. It's just a short drive to the Waileai shopping center, shops, grocery stores, and restaurants. The location is just great. What can I say? This is a great condo - you won't be disappointed!

    Patty’s condo is truly more beautiful and comfortable than the outstanding website reveals. Our family of 7 with a rented roll-away in the third bedroom had all the necessary creature comforts for diverse ages as well as the convenience of “space" with the well furnished wrap-around lanais. The occupants of the master bedroom wanted to relocate it and the view to California, The condo is clean and well- maintained. Since we ate most of our meals ”at home”, the herb garden enhanced our recipes and saved us the inconvenience and cost of purchasing seasonings. The kitchen was amazingly well equipped. It was so easy to entertain friends. When we did eat out, fresh fish was the major choice! How special to be so close to the clean, sandy beaches and be able to watch the cardinals, turtles and the sun set each evening from the lanai. We picked Makena Surf so each member of the family could pursue his/her own priorities : swimming laps in the pool, hiking, snorkeling surfing, building sand castles or tennis. Group activities included a catamaran( Alii Nui) and luau adventure in addition to a visit to a flower farm in Kula. The children ages 6 and 9 voted the snorkeling trip the best adventure: excellent, attractive crew, guided snorkeling with equipment included, and gourmet breakfast and lunch, Take your own snorkeling equipment that you have rented for the week, and get a discount. This trip is a must! It was a pleasure to book with Patty who takes a personal interest in each family member, immediately replies to questions, and provides excellent directions/ideas for island adventures. I agree that Makena Surf with its favorable location, quiet beauty, outstanding landscaping with fragrant flowers as well as its friendly staff/security is the best place to spend a week on Maui. Yes, I definitely would recommend this property to a friend.

    We had a wonderful vacation here at Makena Surf. The views are beautiful. The two quiet beaches are wonderful, just enough surf for having fun but not too much for the kids and for swimming. The complex is very well maintained, the pools are great and not crowded. The condo unit was spacious and well appointed.
