Escape to Bryant's Brook, a beautiful, unique cabin that's surrounded by woods and completely secluded from all neighbors but easy to access all year round.
Lovingly built with pegged, hand-hewn barn beams, rough-cut logs and wide-plank floors cut from the surrounding pine-covered mountains, this unique home is both rustic and utterly comfortable. Fully furnished with beautiful local antiques, two woodstoves, and an artesian well, but with a modern kitchen, digitally monitored central heat, it's the perfect place for a romantic ski trip or escape from the city for a couple, a big family or a group of friends.
The three main bedrooms are up a spiral staircase, but if someone has trouble with stairs there is a sunroom with its own woodstove off the kitchen that can be used as a fourth bedroom. Two bedrooms upstairs have double beds, and the third has two single beds and child's bed. The spacious living room has a woodstove that opens to function as a fireplace, a fieldstone hearth, and a picture window looking onto the pond. The french doors open onto one of the two back sun decks.
Off the kitchen is a spacious covered front porch with a gas grill. There is a small barn that can be used as a garage and there's a guest cottage available for summer usage. There is also a campfire by the edge of Bryant's Brook, which has a great swimming hole for summer.
Surrounded by protected woods on all sides, the property includes an apple orchard for you to pick apples, an organic garden with vegetables, berries and herbs. There are three ponds connected by a spring that winds between them, and 2.5 acres of landscaped lawn and gardens.
Kid friendly! There is a toddler bed, pack and play, potty, safety gate, high chair and a tree house... Dogs are welcome, there are two dog beds, and dogs can run off leash, we're surrounded by a beautiful old stone wall, woods and a stream - no nearby neighbors or other dogs.
Please don't smoke inside.
Just three miles from the picturesque village of Andes, which offers terrific antique shops and boutiques, its own museum, several galleries, outstanding restaurants, and live music.
It's also only 20 minutes from Belleayre ski area, 30 from Plattekill, and 1 hour from Hunter. It's one hour and fifteen minutes from the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, 40 minutes from Woodstock and New York City is a 2.5 hour drive.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
I'm from Colorado, so I didn't think I'd ever fall in love with the mountains on the East Coast, until we discovered Andes. The area is just beautiful, with steep mountain hiking trails, great fishing and water sports, picturesque towns and irresistible antique shops everywhere. My family loves coming up here all year round, for summer hikes, winter skiing and skating, and just relaxing in the house and the gardens.
Why the Owner Chose Andes
The house is a dream come true - every time we arrive from the city we're amazed at the beauty of the materials and the craftsmanship that went into creating the house and the gardens. The kids and the dogs love being outside all day, swimming, eating apples, playing in the tree house. It's so close to the city and a world away.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Because we're surrounded by protected forests the house feels very secluded, without being difficult to reach, we have just one neighbor, but you can't even see his house, so it's very private. The gardens are always producing apples, raspberries, tomatoes and pumpkins that practically grow by themselves - there's so much water because of the spring-fed ponds and the brook by the house. It's an entirely unique property, unlike any other you're likely to find, built out of reclaimed barn materials and cleverly reused artifacts, including an old gravestone as a step.

We had a lovely time at the cabin. It had everything we could have needed ( I have to compliment you on the interior decor..the furnishings the kitchen was my favorite were unlike anything I have seen before) and site that the house is on is beautiful. the sound of the stream running in front of the house was so relaxing and the kids really enjoyed picking apples for us to take home. im looking forward to making a pie :)

This cabin is the perfect mix of rustic and modern, complete with hand-hewn chesnut beams and washer/dryer/dishwasher. Very quiet, remote location better for lazy days of relaxation than for zipping around the Thruway. Incredible value. We'll return again and again.

My husband and I stayed here last week. The house is a lovely log cabin style home beautifully furnished with antiques. The property is beautifully landscaped with a little herb and berry garden out back- lots of black berries just waiting to be picked- unfortunately they weren't quite ripe for us- next week visitors will have a great harvest. There was a great swimming hole in the stream at the front of the house and a fire ring next to the stream that we enjoyed every night. The house was convenient to Margaretville and Andes, hiking in the nearby mountains, and golfing. My only complaints would be the staircase to the upper floor is a little difficult to navigate especially if carrying luggage and the traffic on Rt. 28, which runs right in front of the house, kind of ruined the ambiance for our nightly bonfire. Nevertheless we had a wonderful time and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

I stayed here the last week in June & am writing this at my last night here, must say is was Wonderful!!! The house was very clean, large and the grounds were well kept, surprised me my how much property there was. The 2 ponds & stream out front were great, fed the fish a few times & made a campfire just about every night. The woods behind the house are excellent to hike in, The local towns were also very nice. I certainly want to come back here again!!!, Fall would be nice because there are so many apple trees on the property and they would be ripe. Very happy with this rental indeed......Thank you Tim!!!

New Years Eve Weekend-worth the money

Four of us (two couples) rented the cabin for a low-key New Years Eve weekend. There were three bedrooms upstairs, one with a half bath, two living rooms (only one with enough furniture for lounging) kitchen and full bath downstairs. Also a nice front porch and two nice back decks. Also it was very easy to get to and Margartville was only about 10 minutes away and easy to run when we forgot things. Big yard in back and we were there just after a big snow storm, so plenty of room to make a snowman, something none of us had done in a long time. Two nice woodstoves, one converts to a fireplace, which was fantastic. Also dogs are welcome, which was really nice since our friends had two dogs and didn't have to kennel them in order to come with us. There are a few drawbacks, (biggest one was that the stairs can be tricky to navigate-narrow and spiral- and there was no way the dogs could get up them) but overall it was worth the money and the sanity of having a nice low key weekend after the hectic holidays. Feel free to email me with questions. Kasa.Wahl@gmail.com

I have rented a few cabins through this site, and I have experienced some false advertising, so I am always nervous renting a new place, but I just got back from a winter weekend at Tim's cabin, and it was absolutely amazing! The cabin itself is beautiful. It's a classic log cabin, really wonderfully designed, great interior, clean and home-y, with comfortable sleeping for 8. The surrounding property is very secluded and quiet-- just the sound of the brook. We spent the weekend cooking, sitting around the fire, attending the tree lighting in Andes. Tim and Frantiska were also very helpful and a pleasure to do business with. We will be recommending the cabin to all of our friends!
