Lovely and Quiet

As advertised this house is terrific. Cute and cozy with a quirky layout--it's clearly a labor of love on the part of the owners, who were pleasant to deal with. The setting is bucolic and verdant. Lots of country charm and awesome wood stove in the big main room. Highly Recommended.

We had a lovely time at the cabin. It had everything we could have needed ( I have to compliment you on the interior decor..the furnishings the kitchen was my favorite were unlike anything I have seen before) and site that the house is on is beautiful. the sound of the stream running in front of the house was so relaxing and the kids really enjoyed picking apples for us to take home. im looking forward to making a pie :)

We had an absolute lovely stay and this cottage, it is truly a charming place. I stayed here with my husband and son and as well as another family with two children and there is plenty of space. I would definitely recommend it for a couple or for a family stay - it is really well equipped with everything. I absolut beautiful surroundings

This cabin is the perfect mix of rustic and modern, complete with hand-hewn chesnut beams and washer/dryer/dishwasher. Very quiet, remote location better for lazy days of relaxation than for zipping around the Thruway. Incredible value. We'll return again and again.

Beautiful property

My husband and I stayed here last week. The house is a lovely log cabin style home beautifully furnished with antiques. The property is beautifully landscaped with a little herb and berry garden out back- lots of black berries just waiting to be picked- unfortunately they weren't quite ripe for us- next week visitors will have a great harvest. There was a great swimming hole in the stream at the front of the house and a fire ring next to the stream that we enjoyed every night. The house was convenient to Margaretville and Andes, hiking in the nearby mountains, and golfing. My only complaints would be the staircase to the upper floor is a little difficult to navigate especially if carrying luggage and the traffic on Rt. 28, which runs right in front of the house, kind of ruined the ambiance for our nightly bonfire. Nevertheless we had a wonderful time and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

Owner response:It's true the campfire is closer to the road than the house - it's a short walk down out the front by the stream. We are building a new campfire behind the house on the edge of the woods - better for marshmallows and songs. We'll also keep the one in the front because the sound of the stream is so nice there, and there's very little traffic most of the time. The house itself is set back from the road quite a bit, with the high-banked stream and a lot of trees in between.

Second summer staying here, and it is quickly becoming an annual tradition. Spacious, comfortable, serene, and just all around lovely. A wonderful place to get together with friends and take a break from it all. Will definitely be coming back.

I stayed here the last week in June & am writing this at my last night here, must say is was Wonderful!!! The house was very clean, large and the grounds were well kept, surprised me my how much property there was. The 2 ponds & stream out front were great, fed the fish a few times & made a campfire just about every night. The woods behind the house are excellent to hike in, The local towns were also very nice. I certainly want to come back here again!!!, Fall would be nice because there are so many apple trees on the property and they would be ripe. Very happy with this rental indeed......Thank you Tim!!!

my best friends and i have met up at this property two years in a row now for a weekend. we will continue to return. we don't even leave the property. enough room to play relaxed yard games amongst a pond, creak (you can get in), and beautiful scenery. the house couldn't been more comfortable and well-equipped. great stereo, grill on the back porch, solid amenities. good stuff.

New Years Eve Weekend-worth the money

Guest: Kasa (Albany, ny)
Date of Stay: 12/31/10 Review Submitted: 01/04/11

Four of us (two couples) rented the cabin for a low-key New Years Eve weekend. There were three bedrooms upstairs, one with a half bath, two living rooms (only one with enough furniture for lounging) kitchen and full bath downstairs. Also a nice front porch and two nice back decks. Also it was very easy to get to and Margartville was only about 10 minutes away and easy to run when we forgot things. Big yard in back and we were there just after a big snow storm, so plenty of room to make a snowman, something none of us had done in a long time. Two nice woodstoves, one converts to a fireplace, which was fantastic. Also dogs are welcome, which was really nice since our friends had two dogs and didn't have to kennel them in order to come with us. There are a few drawbacks, (biggest one was that the stairs can be tricky to navigate-narrow and spiral- and there was no way the dogs could get up them) but overall it was worth the money and the sanity of having a nice low key weekend after the hectic holidays. Feel free to email me with questions. Kasa.Wahl@gmail.com

Owner response:It is a spiral staircase, so i guess getting really big pieces of luggage up it could be hard, but we have managed to move furniture up and down it!

Beautiful Cabin and Property!

I have rented a few cabins through this site, and I have experienced some false advertising, so I am always nervous renting a new place, but I just got back from a winter weekend at Tim's cabin, and it was absolutely amazing! The cabin itself is beautiful. It's a classic log cabin, really wonderfully designed, great interior, clean and home-y, with comfortable sleeping for 8. The surrounding property is very secluded and quiet-- just the sound of the brook. We spent the weekend cooking, sitting around the fire, attending the tree lighting in Andes. Tim and Frantiska were also very helpful and a pleasure to do business with. We will be recommending the cabin to all of our friends!

It was heavenly. And we even got some snow flurries -- so we had some relaxing days by the fire. Thanks so much.

A perfect, relaxing getaway

Guest: Rachel MW (Livingston, NJ)
Date of Stay: 05/28/10 Review Submitted: 06/02/10

This vacation home had plenty of room for 9 of us to sleep comfortably. The home was clean; it had plenty of hot water, beautiful rooms, and several decks and porches that we could relax on outside. We spent three days playing football in the back yard, kayaking and canoeing in a small lake nearby, cooking on the grill and building campfires. We all felt so relaxed away from the hustle of our daily lives, listening to the peaceful rippling of a stream on the property and sound of the frogs in the pond. If you ever want to just get away and enjoy a few days with some of your favorite people, this is definitely the place to do it!

A beautifully designed, private cabin in a gorgeous area with lovely grounds. The kitchen was well-equipped. The beds were comfortable. There were acres of snow-covered land (we went in December) for our dogs to romp around out back. Nice towns nearby with good bars and delis and antiques. A great area to explore! We didn't want to leave.

Loved it from the minute we parked the cars next to it. We were there for skiing, and although it takes a bit to drive to the resorts, we found the quality and value of the accommodations to be well worth the extra time. We would definitely stay there again!

We headed up here for a quiet fall weekend getaway and had a fantastic time. The place has a fantastic vibe with good aesthetic choices that made you feel far from the city. The grounds are beautiful, with three ponds. The surrounding towns are pleasantly sleepy (at least in the fall) and thats what we came for. Thanks!
