- Wheel chair accessible:No
A short walk or bike to 15+ miles of nearly deserted white sand beach. Yes, just picture yourself in paradise. That's where you'll be when you enjoy an unforgettable vacation at 'Hale Kekaha', our only premium ocean front unit, just 26 miles from the Lihue Airport, and a world away from the maddening crowds. With an average annual rainfall of less than 20 inches, you can almost guarantee yourself a sunny vacation... regardless of the time of the year. Why gamble with your vacation, by staying on the North Shore, where rain can be all too common? Swimming, surfing, sunbathing, watching the sunset whatever your pleasure, you'll find yourself living a dream as you marvel that anyplace on earth can be so perfect.
This non-smoking plantation style unit is located near Waimea Canyon (the Grand Canyon of the Pacific) and Barking Sands Beach, with convenient access to restaurants, movie theater, shops, markets, and the famous Jo-Jo's shave ice. The condo-style unit has been recently remodeled and redecorated by a well known designer, and is loaded with amenities that will make you feel instantly at home. Quality furniture and linens, tile floors, and lots of windows to take in that view. One bedroom has a king bed, and the second bedroom has two double beds, which are much roomier than those standard twin beds you find elsewhere.
There is a gas BBQ to make it a pleasure to cook at home.
This is no tourist trap. There are no hotel resorts, no vendors hawking cheap souvenirs. Just an endless expanse of pristine beach and warm surf and spectacular sunsets, with friendly people who offer the 'spirit of aloha' with each greeting. It's like traveling back in time to the Hawaii of yesteryear, the perfect getaway from the cares of everyday life.
Swaying coconut palms, balmy breezes, sandy beaches, warm ocean water, and days of sunshine. All the ingredients for a perfect ocean side vacation in Kauai, at Hale Kekaha.

We recently stayed at Hale Kekaha and found it to be very clean and comfortable. There was always a nice breeze. We recommend it for couples. Parking can be challenging if all of the units are occupied. You do not need to pack lots due to the availability of a washer/dryer. A large family stayed behind us with four cars. The beach view is now gone, as the locals tell it by shifting currents. However, less than 1/4 of mile walk and there is a beach at the county park or a short drive to Salt Pond Park where a reef protects the beach. A few homeless people there but they do not bother you. A 25 minute drive out beyond the Naval Center there is a park in the middle of nowhere next to the cliffs with miles of beaches. Be mindful of your vehicle there, some break-ins do occur. Keep plenty of water with you at all times. It was in the mid to upper 80's and the island breeze will fool you as to how much fluid you are actually loosing. We loved the West-side - laid back in true Hawaiian style so plan to eat early if eating out; the sidewalks fold up around 6 pm. The farther you travel east, the more bustling the island becomes so be mindful of the time. The east is lush green due to all of the rain and the west is dry due to the mountains. Wal-Mart is in Lihue and easy to drive to as well as the mall which has a real nice food court where you may eat some local cuisine. There is a grocery store in each town. There are plenty of things to see and do. Drive to the west side and drive along and up the Waimea Canyon - the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. It was easy to sleep with the waves crashing off the sea wall and the evening breezes. We took the Napli Coast tour with Kauai Sea Tours and enjoyed that immensely. We highly recommend it; lots of turtles, spinner dolphins and maybe a Monk Seal or two. Everything is a little pricey but, it is an island. Five days is not long enough to see all the island has to offer. Chickens are everywhere!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: We have not had a problem in this area with car break ins. However, it is possible anywhere, and you need to use good judgement when leaving your car. Do not leave valuables in the car, in fact, we generally leave the car open and unlocked. During your stay, there was a family attending a wedding, and it was an unusual situation, as there were many local people who came to visit. This is not normally a problem, and we are sorry that you may have been inconvenienced by the number of cars.

The place was beautiful and only steps away from the beach. We felt at home and truly relaxed compared to the hustle and bustle of staying at a hotel. The units were roomy, kept nicely and well stocked. When we go back to Kauai we will definitely be staying there again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Excellent place; highly recommendable. Perfect location for a vacation like you see on postcards: uncrowded beach (out the front door), majestic mountains, privacy, activities, pretty much anything you could want. We had a wonderful time there.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great time, on the beach everyday. It really is just across the road. Very nice little community. Not to far from the larger cities. Very quiet except for the traffic at times. Mostly hear the waves on a great beach. Place is like new.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This place was AWESOME! It has a beautiful view and the beach is right in front you! The beach is not crowded at all and has wonderful white clean sand. The place is newly remodeled, so everything is very clean. It provides a great place to get away. And Kauai was a great island to visit. I will definitely be going back and staying at Hale Kekaha!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
