Perfectly located, convenient apartment

My husband and I stayed at Mery's apartment in May and enjoyed our stay there. Mery spoke English very well and was extremely helpful in answering our questions, and being available if we needed anything. She was kind enough to upgrade us at no charge from the small apartment to the large one, just for our own comfort. My husband and I certainly didn't need all of the extra space (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, and living room), but it was lovely to escape the confines of the tiny hotel rooms we had been frequenting in other parts of Italy. The location was suburb. We were about a 15 minute walk from the train station, 10 minutes from the Duomo and shopping, and 2 blocks from the bridge. We never needed a taxi, and loved the central location. We were close to 2 grocery stores, and minutes away from several delicious restaurants. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't a fancy place. It's simple, but well furnished and everything functioned well. Although older, it was very clean and we saw no bugs, even when we left the patio doors open. There were extra blankets in each room, and towels were provided. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates, cups, cooking pans, and utensils. Our only complaint was the master bed. The mattress was not connected to the frame, which made it noisy at times, and the pillows would fall behind the bed at night. Either attaching the bed frame, or offering several more pillows would easily solve this problem. Overall we were pleased with our experience, and we will pursue renting here again if we are in Florence.

A charming and friendly stay

My husband and I stayed in Mery's apartment for three nights while visiting Florence in October. The apartment was darling, well-equipped, and perfectly located next to il Ponte Vecchio - everything we wanted to see in Florence was an easy walk. Mery and her husband were the most gracious hosts and provided excellent recommendations for dining. We'd definitely stay there again!

This is a perfect place to stay while in Florence. It is steps from some important sites including the Pitti Palace and Boboli gardens, close to restaurants, shops and public transportation. The one bedroom apartment is spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. Mery is available to assist in anyway possible, from providing information, making reservations and anything else to make your stay pleasant. We look forward to returning.

Nice, Clean and Great Location

My husband, sister and I spent a few days in Florence and we couldn't have found a better apartment for the three of us. Close to all the sites and this area has great local restaurants. The apartment was clean, secure with very comfortable beds, a great bonus for Italy. Mery and Salvatore were very helpful and assisted us in our search for lost luggage. Mery was very responsive to my e-mails before we arrived helping us with reservation to a few of the local museums.

LOCATION, LOCATION

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay in Florence at Salvatore & Mery's apartment. As you have read, they are gracious hosts and she has amazing ceramics that will be hard not to bring home with you. We used this location as a base camp to also visit Rome, Venice, and Pisa. We were initially intimidated by the 20 blocks to the train station, but if you are in shape, you will easily get there in 10 - 15 minutes (they are small blocks). We walked it each day enjoying the sights along the way. It is right around the corner from Ponte Vecchio and we enjoyed the sunsets each night. The walk was great for us as we indulged in all the nearby gelato stores. Yum! : ) I feel lucky that we chose Florence for our stay. It's a wonderful city and definitely one of my favorite stays. We hope to be back soon and will stay at this apt. again.

Florence Find

Guest: Dawn and Shirley (California)
Date of Stay: 09/10/11 Review Submitted: 09/30/11

We are two lady friends from California traveling in Italy for a month. Our last stop was Florence for a week and we were pleasantly surprised. The apartment had been remodeled and the location was central to everything. Added plus was the elevator and the internet hookup and convenient market. We took the Hop-on Hop-off bus with a two day pass and even got off at the Academia Gallery to see "David". Mery and Salvatore were extremely helpful and we admired their hard working values.

Great location, comfortable apartment and friendly Host!

Our family of four stayed in Mery's apartment for 4 days. The apartment is very comfortable and clean and has plenty of room. It is also well equipped and nicely decorated. It's location is wonderful and so close to the Ponte Vecchio and Pitti Palace and yet very quiet. We also walked to Il Duomo and the Uffizzi Gallery which were an easy walk through Florences' fascinating streets. The Bardini Gardens are beautiful and well worth a visit. So green and peaceful, with a lovely cafe with spectacular views over florence. Mery was always very friendly and helped us with all our enquiries. Her ceramics shop is full of beautiful pieces and we bought some back home which Mery packaged and sent for us. We would definately recommend this apartment and hope one day to return. Thanks Mery!!

Wonderful apartment and host

This apartment and the others that the landlord, Mery, has are all terrific in terms of comfort and location. The apartment is well kept and has everything that most anyone would require. It is about a 20 minute walk from the main train station and just a block from the Ponte Vecchio, yet back in a quiet courtyard off the main street. It is an easy walk to all the great art of Florence, and there are also some good restaurants around the area of the apartment. What's more, if you need any help (a reservation at the Uffizi perhaps?), Mery is always more than willing. It was a pleasure to meet her and to stay in her apartment. And she runs a fine ceramic shop in the courtyard for anyone who wants a souvenir from Tuscany. If you are going to Florence, you can't go wrong by settling in here for a while.

Comfortable and convenient

We found this apartment to be just what we needed for a relaxed week looking at sights in Florence. The apartment is well-located, near all the major touring destinations of the city. It is also quite comfortable, with a good amount of room for the two of us. Mery, the landlady, was not only very helpful in many ways, but also a kind, pleasant person. It was an added benefit to have her ceramics shop right at the entry to the apartment building, so that we were able to talk with her and view her beautiful ceramics creations each time we went in or out of the building. Highly recommended!

This apartment and it's owner were wonderful. We had a very nice stay here and were warmly welcomed to the apartment. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. I could rave on and on about how nice it was, but the list is endless. It was just perfect, I would stay here again and again and I would recommend it to everyone.

Great Find in Florence!

We stayed here in April 2010 with 2 of our 3 children and had the most wonderful time. The apartment is very accomodating for 4 with ample amenities. Location is absoluetly perfect for exploring all of Florence and easily in walking distance of everything you might want to see (we never used any public transportation). Mery is a very gracious host and always available for questions. Don't leave Florence without some of her pottery which is beautiful. The Pitti Palace/Boboli Gardens is a must and only a block away. Grocery and Bancomat very close by. We would love to return one day and would definately rent from Mery again.

Great apartment, great location!

Guest: Karen & Tim (Seattle, WA USA)

We stayed in this apartment Dec. 2009 with another couple. The location is super cute and everything is so walkable in Florence that the apartment was in the perfect location for us. Mery and her husband were great and made the trip planning very easy (she even helped make reservations at some of the museums for us since we couldn't get through on the phone from the States). The apartment was clean and well stocked. The only thing I would point out is that the apartment has been rearranged, so the photos aren't exactly what it looks like now. We would definitely recommend this apartment!

We had a wonderful stay here in this apartment. The location is great, the apartment was great and a perfect place to stay while in Florence. Thank you Mery for your help with our telephone call to Canada. You went out of your way to help us and all the more reason for this recommendation; not only a great place, but a wonderful and very helpful owner.

This was definitely one of our best travel moves. This was our first stop on our first trip to Italy and it was fantastic. Mery made our trip! Her ceramic shop underneath the apartment is beautiful and her help in "getting us involved" in Florence was above and beyond the call of duty. Great neighborhood, close to everything but not crazy. Very quiet. The apartment was perfect size and very clean but it was our friend Mery that was the difference! What a sweatheart. Going to Florence? Stay here!

I stayed here in March (2008) with my family and we loved it. The apartment is large for Florence, comfortable and very quiet. When we arrived, there was a beautiful gift from the owner. One of the best things about the place is Mery, the manager who owns the ceramic shop downstairs in the courtyard. She is warm and friendly and always helpful. If you want a little peace and quiet away from the madness of touristic Florence, this is the place!

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for 5 wonderful days. Mery was very helpful in suggesting where to eat, how to get to certain places, and about Florence in general. The apartment was a perfect size, and was exceptionally clean and well-cared for. It is a perfect spot!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was very convenient and the flat was lovely. We arrived late in the evening and we were met immediately without waiting. Mery was exceptionally helpful with dinner reservations and she has a beautiful shop. I would recommend this flat to anyone and suggest picking up some great things from her ceramics shop.
