Location: Parksville, Vancouver Island, The Islands, British Columbia, Canada
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 7-9)
Keywords: House
Relax in the large hot tub looking up at the stars or out to sea. Watch the cruise ships meander up or down the coast while you BBQ dinner. Nestled 5 minutes between Parksville and Qualicum, this very private waterfront property offers wonder filled sunrises and beautiful sunsets and sandy beaches just steps away.
Snorkel the bay, kayak to Parksville or charter a boat and try your luck at fishing its all within easy walking distance. The beach is a mixture of sand (at the foot of the path) gravel and small (up to 6" average) rocks and is lots of fun for sandcastle building and beach combing. Try just lying in the sun while your kids fly a kite at low tide. In short the beach is perfect for all ages. It is a very private and protected area at high tide and the perfect swimming spot in the summer with warm water created as the water flows over the hot sand. The average depth at high tide in the middle of the bay is approximately 4-5 ft with a flat bottom mixture of sand and rocks, great for snorkeling or floating.
The marina directly in view always boasts the opportunity to walk the docks and enjoy the salt air, shop for fresh seafood or ride the ferry to Lasqueti Island. The Creek House Restaurant and Pub are only a few minutes walk along the sandy beach. Morningstar golf course is close by with a Sushi bar and Bakery next door.
The 2000 sq ft Beach House has 3 bedrooms and an observation porch sofa bed(sleeps 2)and a sofa bed in the living room(sleeps 2)so can accommodate up to 11 guests. On the ocean side of the house on the main floor is the master bedroom there are 2 bedrooms upstairs with 1 twin 1 double and 1 queen bed. Next to the master bedroom is the main bath and then full kitchen. The kitchen patio doors open up onto a large covered deck with a 6 person private hot tub, 2 patio tables with chairs and a large gas barbecue and wood fire pit. Just past the deck is an apple orchard often visited by the local deer and bunnies. Next there is a cozy dining room that seats up to eight with a natural gas pedestal stove inserted into a brick chimney facade. Past the dining room is the main entrance and mud/laundry room. The living room which faces the water comfortably seats 8 with entertainment center.
Opening from the living room is the front porch with a breathtaking view of the ocean, coastal mountains and marina and is only surpassed by a short walk to an almost completely private beach. The ideal country beach getaway without leaving the city.
It is possible to walk to Parksville city center along the beach (approximately 3 km.)I have done it many times although good shoes and the right tides are needed before venturing out. Qualicum Beach is about the same distance but the town center is not on the beach and you must cross the creek first if you are to walk there. Qualicum Town center is about 1/2 km inland and boasts live theater, indoor saltwater pool, large market, bakeries and art center.
There are many places to eat within walking distance of The Beach House. Only a short stroll along the beach, the marina offers a waterfront cafe overlooking the boats, perfect for coffee, lunch or dinner . Just past this is a grocery store, pub/restaurant and upstairs is a beautiful lunch/dinner restaurant. Directly across the road is a world class Japanese Sushi Restaurant. Beside this is a bakery with a coffee shop with lots of sweets. There is also a seafood store at the main dock where you can purchase fresh prawns, Alaskan smoked cod, fresh oysters, crab and halibut just to name a few of the delightful BBQ treats
Down the road about a five minute walk towards Parksville city center is a breakfast and lunch cafe with a bakery and video store. Five minutes past that is a mall with 2 eateries, supermarket and lots of shops.
The places that I would recommend to see are many and they all depend on your interests and schedule, some quite close like Rathtrevor Provincial Park and the town of Coombs which has the market with the goats on the roof. Also close by is Cameron Lake and McMillan's Cathedral Grove with huge trees that have to be seen to be believed.
There are the Horn Lake Caves with tours that you could take. Summertime swimming in Spider Lake Park or in the river at Top Bridge or Little Qualicum Falls Park all are amazing places and are very close. The West Coast of Vancouver Island Long Beach is breathtaking but involves a full day trip. Closer (across the beach at the Marina) there is a ferry to Lasqueti Island which is also an enjoyable day trip.

it couldn't have been better... these folks are consummate hosts. everything and more was provided including an unsolicited xmas tree. the grounds/beach was beautiful even in the winter. it's too bad we weren't there in the summer because there looks to be a million other things available to do there (on the property and places relatively close by) but just hanging out in the hot tub or the (surprisingly warm!) glass room suited us just fine! do yourself a favour and rent this place.

We stayed here in the summer of 2011 and were very pleased with the clean and spacious accomodation. The Kayaks were such a joy to use in the bay area. Our teenagers had numerous activities with the volleyball/badminton net to the pingpong table to keep them occupied when we were just relaxing. The evening hot tubs were pleasant and the view across the harbour pleasant. It really became a home away from home. The hosts were close by and helpful. I would recommended this to a friend or a relative. We enjoyed our little 1/2 day trips in all directions from the house. ENjoy!!

We spent two full weeks at the Pitts beach house it was absolutely amazing it was everything they had advertised and more. Kerry and Kristen were the sweetest people ever always went out of there way to make sure everything was good for us. Let us no about things and places nearby that might interest us explained about the wildlife on their property defineately no shortage we had deer, rabbits and quails in the yard daily. we spent hours on the beach from gathering crabs, seashells, swimming in the ocean and kayaking when our two weeks were up we sad to have to leave it was defineately a fun filled holiday with memories that will last a life time. Thankyou so much for letting us have that time at your house.

We had the best mini family reunion weekend at the Pitt's most lovely beach house. The place was perfect for our group, ranging in ages from 3 to 70yrs old. We had 4 children with us who loved the house! There were games and puzzles for inside time. And the beach and huge yard, for outside time. Kerry even took the children and showed them some bunnies that are living on the property. They got to feed them too, which I think made the stay for them!. Kerry also took the time to show us how to use the BBQ, and the hot tub. He even set up a fire pit for us, with roasting sticks. The house itself was very clean and comfortable with an amazing view and every amenity you could think of. The property is close to nearby activities such as markets and restaurants to suit everyone's tastes. Just a short walk and you can buy fresh seafood right off the boat! We loved the house, the hosts and we hope to visit again. Thank you Pitt family!!

Knowing nothing about the area in the beginning, I consider that we were extremely lucky to find this place for so many reasons(I will let the lucky people who choose this place find out for themselves). The owners went out of their way to ensure that we had everything that we could possibly need. And that included insuring that my husband had the fastest speed that he would need to stay connected to his business, and even more importantly, the internet security that is so vital when one is dealing with sensitive information. Absolutely no one else I contacted had the slightest interest(dozens of people)in securing a fast, SECURE, internet connection for us. Most people do not understand that just having "hi-speed internet" does not necessarily mean really having the high speeds necessary to complete business quickly and efficiently. Or the vital importance of a secure line. No small matter when on vacation! I should mention that the people we rented from were lovely people and a pleasure in all ways. I loved everything about their place and ours. What luck for us that we found them! We had a wonderful time there. There was so much to do. My only complaint was that we did not spend enough time there. I hope to remedy that in the future.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to the Pitt's for the awesome week that we spent at the Beach House! It was truly one of the best vacations that we have ever spent and completely lived up to expectations from all of the wonderful comments from past visits. My children are 13 and 14 and we enjoyed the kayaks daily, the ping pong table, badminton, and definitely not to forget the hot tub every evening. The access to the beach was perfect and we spent many hours beachcombing over the week with the tides. We even had a curious seal pop it's head out of the water less than 10 feet from my daughter's kayak. I would and have recommended the Beach House to anyone who wants to get closer to their family over a week and be near to so many things to do in the Parksville area. We will certainly consider coming back! Thanks Kerry and Kristyne! Cheers, Kirk Anderson.

We had a wonderful time on the island and staying at your guest house was great, it was really well equipped, even for the 6 of us. The kids had so much fun on the beach and with the kayaks. We have recommended you to everyone we talk to.
