This property is located in a very secluded area outside of Puerto Morelos. It is very BIG and the house and separate cabana are also very spacious. It is approximatly 10 years old and it reflects that it has been used as a rental for a while. There is a caretaker, but it is quite aparent that the owner is absent. Pictures are accurate. If you are traveling with your 10 best friends or your entire extended family, this is a fairly cheap way to stay right on the beach. If you are looking for an upscale getaway, you are probably better served in a luxury resort. Brian was very helpful, prompt and accomodating when we made our last minute reservation for just the 2 of us. We stayed during Easter week which resulted in excessive noise from the neighbors on both sides. The beach is very nice, but depending on the current, can have some seaweed floating. You must have a car or getting around can become a hassle. There are no restaurants or stores within walking distance. During our stay the main house was overrun with many different kinds of ants. In every cabinet, tables, rooms, kitchen. The pool which was the main reason why we booked this property, unfortunately turned green on the 2nd day and despite a request for service, did not get fixed until 2 days before we left. At that point something was wrong with the electricity and we got electrocuted when we went for a swim. VERY dangerous. Regrettably out of the week, we could use the pool for only 1 day. There is satellite TV, but with VERY limited service. There is only one TV in the main living room. The internet did work until the day before we left, at which point there was again no one to fix it. There were additional isses which we addressed with Brian and he assured us that they were or would be taken care of. Brian apologetically offered us to return for 7 days in the future at no charge for the inconveniences, however it is unlikely that we will take him up on this offer. At the end of the day we expect a certain level of service and comfort for the amount paid for a preivate rental, regardless of where and or how big it is. This property did not meet that. All in all if you are looking for space to board a herd and you do not mind the small details, this is your best choice around. For us, unfortunately this was a very disappointing rental with VRBO. We would not reccomend this property.

Casa Marcella is absolutely perfect if you are looking for a small "villa" in a tropical setting. Upon entering the courtyard my thought was "Wow--this is more than I expected!" Lush flowering foliage surrounds the beautiful pool. Unique touches make the property very special and personal from the tiled sinks, stained glass windows to the books and game left for the guests. Rounded stairs at the front of the house take you out to white sands and turquoise water. Just put the beach chairs in the water and stroll down a few yards for a massage or schedule a catamaran jaunt and have the Margaritas waiting. Wake up to sounds of surf and exotic bird song. There is much to see and do in the area and you can choose to be a total tourist and shopper or just enjoy the Casa. Sleep, eat, read, stroll the beach, wade in the water or take a dip in the pool. The charming little village of Puerto Morelos has some good restaurants for nights out. I did take a day trip to ATV, zip line and jump into an underground pool. Other than that it was complete R&R for me. Casa Marcella is beautiful and just a wonderful place to be. I would happily recommend it. In fact, wish I was "looking for my lost jigger of salt" right now!

As soon as I walked through the doors to the beautiful courtyard, my stress and and tension were gone. A good nights sleep to the sound of the ocean, a morning swim and stroll on the beach and I felt human again. Bruno was amazing and was so caring to our needs. We even had a momma turtle come and lay her eggs in the sand under the palapa in the night and watched the turtle rescue people protecting them. Lunch in Puerto Morelos just a short drive away and an afternoon swing in the hammock to top it off. Every day a new adventure. What a beautiful visit, never wanted to leave. Thank you for making this place available to us to recharge our souls.

Needs some modernization. Main house needs King bed downstairs. Bruno (onsite house keeper) was excellent with information about the area. Easy access to Puerto Morelos via main highway or back roads. Outdoor grill and refrig. used the most. Playa Wal mart trip stocked the place for a week. You can't stay here without a vehicle; to remote. Security not a problem at all. Compared to others previously rented, a little below average. Probably won't rent again or recommend.
Owner response:We take all of our feedback very seriously. After this comment was given to us, we traveled to the house conducted an inspection and completed several projects to touch things up. There is a King sized bed in the Cabana next to the pool on the ground floor. The downstairs room in the main house has a queen sized bed so that I can accomodate the two rollaways for guests with small children if they want them in the same room. We will definately take that into consideration again when it is time to replace the bed. Thank you for your input.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Casa Marcella. Such a gem. Private Beach right outside the back door. Swimming Pool is another option. Relax on the veranda with a Margarita. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Perfect for families with children or couples getting together for a Week in the Yucatan. Locations was perfect for sightseeing to Tulume or Plya del Carmen. Car is required to get around. Puerto Morelos is the sleepy Mexican village you always think of. Restaurants are near by in Puerto Morelos. Cancun is a few miles away for more shopping. Over all It was a pefect alternative to staying in a crowded hotel in Cancun. The caretaker was most helpful and made our stay a pleasure. I would highly reccomend to anyoe looking for a great place to stay off the beaten track.
Owner response:Sorry. We are not able to accomodate handicapped persons as mentioned by the reviewer. Since we are not properly accessible. Stairs, Steps, etc.

Our visit was amazing! We landed in Cancun in the afternoon and after getting our rental car we were on the road to the Casa Marcella. It took approximately 20 minutes to arrive. We were immediately greeted by Bruno (resident housekeeper) ready to assist us with our accommodations. The accommodations were very bright and cheery and extremely clean. My husband and I had an ocean view and what a view, so relaxing, beautiful location watching the wind surfers sailing by. In the morning we took a walk on the beach looking for sand dollars and conk shells and in the evening we sat with our other family members outside under the moon light and shooting stars talking and laughing about old times. Can't wait to go back.

Thank you so much for your lovely home! There were four couples (friends) from Spokane, Washington. This was the most refreshing vacation ever. We loved lounging by the pool, snorkeling, walking on the beach. Our men went fishing and brought us a huge Mahi Mahi. YUM! We experienced the freshest fish dinner we may ever have. We hope the future visitors to Casa Marcella enjoy it's serenity as much as we did. We will be sure to tell our friends. Thank you.

We had a great time at Casa Marcella. It was fun to be able to go to Cancun without having to stay there.Bruno set up a trip to Chichen Itza. It was great that we didn't have to drive. Also Brett at Dive-in Puerto Morelos just super. We were here with some none divers. We snorkeled and all had a fun time. We said good bye last night by going to John Grays Kitchen. The food was wonderful. Thanks for sharing your home.

Fourteen friends from Kansas and New York arrived here at Casa Marcella. We had such a wonderful time and we all hated to leave ! A very comfortable. We cooked nearly every night, eating fish we caught and other local treats. Snorkling, fishing, swimming. A visit to Tulum and Xelha made this a very memorable trip. Thank you.

Our family had a wonderful time here at Casa Marcella. There were 3 families for a total of ten people. 4 were under the age of 4 and having a private pool was wonderful. Our flight was very late and Bruno was waiting for us after a very long day. Being from central Illinois we welcomed the sun, sand and water. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
