I don’t want to sound over the top...but hands down my week in Puerto Rico was the best trip I have taken in my life! I made the trip with 9 friends and we were all absolutely floored by the house and the location. The house is gorgeous and I honestly got the impression I was staying in a 5 star resort. I was blown away by how big it actually was and how open it was too...the climate couldn't be any more perfect and with low humidity and warm temps at night we often slept with all the interior doors open. We welcomed each morning by checking the waves from the top of the building/eating breakfast in the clean and spacious kitchen and wrapped each day up by relaxing by the pool in the well maintained (and private) yard or playing hours of beach volleyball . We went to PR on a surf trip, and if you are planning on heading here to surf you probably already know about Rincon's world renowned surf. The house is a short walk/drive from Domes/Marias/Tres Palmas/Dogmans and not even two minutes form Steps beach where we went snorkeling...the reefs here are incredible! Some of the north coast spots are well within a mornings drive too, and we were able to surf Jobos and Wilderness at 8 am and be back at the house in time for lunch. We decided that with so many different beach directions to pick up different swell angles, it’s not a matter of if there are waves, but where there’s waves (which is incredibly coming from Florida!!) The house is located right on Route 413 "the road to happiness" and that road takes you right into town which is really cool because you can also fully experience the culture of Puerto Rico. We were able to walk to a fun restaurant near the house, but we also branched out and found some more local eats in town. Make sure you eat at the bakery on top of the hill on your way to Pools beach!! The people in Rincon (and all of Puerto Rico from what we could tell) are really friendly and nice. Even the localism in the lineup (surf) isn’t bad, and as long as you show respect you’ll get respect back. We were very satisfied with our stay and I would definitely recommend this houseRecommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

This place is amazing! We were here for a wedding and this house was the perfect setting for the reception. The beaches are gorgeous and the view from the roof looked like something out of a Hollywood movie. The description and pictures of the house do a pretty good job of showing it off, but the reality was soooo much better. Jerry is an awesome care taker..both of the house and especially the guests! He dropped by to check on us, helped the caterers with setup for the reception, all around he was always available and always smiling! He played a big part in making this trip the awesome experience that it was. We had all ages in our party..from 2 yrs old to 88 yrs old and there was something for everyone to do or see. We are already planning the next trip! If you are looking for a place to relax and feel like you are in a 5 star resort then this is the place!Did you find this review helpful? We were here in January, 2012 with 11 people & had a great time. The house was very spacious & even more impressive than its description on the website. We barbequed on the balcony overlooking the gorgeous pool and beautifully landscaped & private backyard. There were also many very good restaurants nearby. We walked to the beaches & the kids also had a great time swimming & surfing on their boogie boards. The house manager, Jerry, couldn't have been more helpful. He does everything you need & all with a smile & helpful attitude. The weather was spectacular. The Giants won the playoff game. We have great pictures for all our memories. We will return next year!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We rented Pura Vida during February Vacation 2011 for my Wedding. We had 12 adults (4 couples) and I couldn't be more happy with the Villa, its location, the cleanliness, and the owners/ care takers. Pura Vida, even thought I had seen it before and toured the house a few months before, was Supremely Gigantic to what I had remembered with many different porches, balconies, and a roof top area with incredible Sunset view. Even with 12 Adults staying at the Villa and a dozen more staying close by; we had more than enough space to be altogether or hanging out in smaller groups. The Service was Amazing. Jerry the current care taker went way above and beyond in every regard. I felt taken care of and with a subtle sense of class and charm. One of the Owners was staying at the Villa on the 1st floor and he was great, he never bothered us and was a genuinely good person. The Villa stays very cool all day and catches Great Breezes with Amazing Views to match. We were in town for the week and Pura Vida made an Ideal Headquarters to work and play from. It was Easy living at its Best! The Decks are Extremely Spacious and the Kitchen and main room on the ground floor were Absolutely Huge! The Kitchen comes fully equipped with good quality kitchen equipment, 2 Large refrigerators, plenty of tables, seats, counter space, a great comfy couch, Large Flat screen TV, and a to top it off a Restaurant Grade (Bunn) Coffee machine (outstanding!). We had Jerry the "care taker" fill up the house with Food and Beverages prior to our Ungodly AM arrival and my guests where simply Blown Away by the Size, Location, and Service! What an impression this place made on my Family and the new In-laws not to mention friends from around the Globe (literally - China, France, Japan, Colombia). The A/C was icy cold but not needed during the day do to the construction and the breezes that run through every room of the villa and the villa also comes with industrial Washing/ Drying machines and many many other amenities like snorkeling equipment (with the best snorkeling in Rincon just a few 100 yards away!), beach chairs, sun bathing chairs, tons of good quality beach towels - I was Extremely Impressed with all the amenities, the attention to detail, the "spare no expense" attitude with appliances and other amenities. We had an AMAZING, AMAZING stay at the Vila and am planning a 2012 Trip to Rincon and hopefully will be able to get this SUPER-Villa with everything you want and MORE!Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

I recently stayed at PuraVida and was amazed at the space the home provided. We visited for a family reunion and the location was great. The pool was a plus for the kids and although the nearby beach is reef, it provided for great snorkling . The family had a great time and I do recommended for large groups as it is very spacious. Faraday (house manager) was so much help and gave us some great ideas for dinner and fishing charters. Only thing I do recommended is a shower on the 2nd level. My grandmother who uses a walker could have benefited from a shower on the 2nd level as she stayed there for the kitchen and family room access. Otherwise, awesome stay and look forward to returning with the family !!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with teenagers.

Our group consisted of 15 people (9 adults / 6 kids). The house is beautiful, but remember beauty is only skin deep. The neighborhood is less to be desired. Pictures do not show that the house is right on a fairly busy road out front or that another house ia about 10 yards away out the back. From reading the descriptions I was under the impression that it was a fairly large beautifully landscaped plot of land - the impression of privacy. It is stated that beach is 100 yards away, more like 300 yards - line of sight is more than 100 yards. The beach/sand is nice, but at the waters edge it is 99% reef (4 to 5 feet wide) then drops to 4 to 5 feet of water - not at all kid friendly. No body surfing and definately no kids playing in the waves. Bring your aqua shoes. Amenities stated were lacking - no hair dryer, safe, telephone, alarm clock, iron, ironing board, blender, no decent assortment of pots and pans, spices consisted of salt and pepper. The grill was an accident waiting to happen - burner tubes rigged with aluminum foil - owner told me it was perfectly functional and that he had just used it prior to our arrival. No outlets in either of the full baths on the 3rd level, but outlets in the 1/2 baths on 2nd and 3rd level. Strange 3rd level layout where 5 of the 6 bedrooms are you have to walk through the bunk room to get to two of the bedrooms. We were given 1 key for the deadbolts on the doors - 7 plus doors, no keys for the door knob locks - some of which were very loose, 1 key for the lock on the front security gate and there was no lock for the lower security gate. We had to replace about a half dozen lightbulbs on the second level to brighten the place up. There are no restaurants close enough to walk to and you wouldn't want to risk your life walking down the road to the one that is about a mile away - especially not with kids in tow. The beach there has a break in the reef about 30 feet wide. The only place the kids could play in the waves. I would not reccommend Rincon as a vacation spot and not this property either.Owner response: In response to "not a redskins fan" I, of course, want to apologize for any inconvenience they may have suffered. However, the neighborhood is one of the most exclusive and affluent areas of Rincon. The "busy road" is the road to town and the beaches and the famous Route 413. There is plenty of privacy and the beach is a two minute walk from the house. If the beach closest to the house was not acceptable, there are three other beaches that are very kid friendly and are within a two minute drive from the house. None of our previous guests have ever complained about a lack of activities for children. Children need to be supervised no matter where they are especially, since this is not a resort with lots of personnel, parents need to provide supervision to prevent children from getting lost. The house comes with the basic pots and pans and amenities, condiments and spices are purely personal items and should be brought along with other personal items. The barbeque was replaced while the guests were in the house, and we are sorry for any inconvenience it caused. The amenities above that are lacking were all there, the outlets were installed according to code and we had nothing to do with their placement. One call to our property manager would have solved the problem of the missing hair dryers, etc., they would have been replaced as soon as possible. We pride ourselves on keeping our guests comfortable. As for the keys, this has been our policy since in the past we have had guests loose extra keys and then we had to charge them for replacing the locks and we were not comfortable causing our guests to spend money needlessly. Our guests get an extra key which they can hide if they misplace their key, also, our house manager is always available to for any problems that may arise. It is unfortunate that "not a redskins fan" was not satisfied with the accommodations, but we have many guests who come back every year for vacation and a few multiple times during the year.

I just recently made a trip down to Puerto Rico with 23 of my medical school friends. We stayed at Casa Grande for one week (March 7-14) and I can honestly say that we really did not have any major complaints about anything. The owners were very thoughtful and could be contacted about any minor problems that came up, and Faraday (manager?) was always on call to answer any questions we had about the house or even Rincon in general. Not only is the house absolutely beautiful but it is spacious, with a gorgeous pool, and is within walking distance of the beach(~5min). I have nothing but good things to say about this property and would highly suggest it to anyone looking for a relaxing and yet exciting getaway. A++ :)Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
