Why the Owner Chose Youngsville

I was a pure city boy, and I went to a friends house in nearby Callicoon. I was lying on the grass at night and looking at the stars and realized that I hadn't seen stars in a long time. I immediately started looking for a home in area. The property and the house had been abandoned for several years but I could see the potential. A lot of love and effort later, I believe I've made the home and surrounding property into what I consider one of the most unique and relaxing places on earth.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Because of the amount of land surrounding the home you immediately feel relaxed and "cut off" from the world the second you get here. Most guests love to just be able to be themselves for a change in the time they're here but at the same time we are located right on the edge of the "forever wild" catskill park. There are too many outdoor opportunities to even mention. You are minutes away from some of the best untouched waters and land in the country! I'm a bit of a chef and food, wine, and great friends is what this place is all about. It's hard to pinpoint any one thing we enjoy the most because this is a very special place and it is our pleasure to share it and hopefully leave our guests with as beautiful and memorable memories that we create every time we're here.

Owner's Map of Youngsville

Owner is a music composer and producer, obsessed outdoorsman and dedicated conservationist. Every spare moment is spent in the woods or fishing in one of the many streams and rivers near the house. He has a "travel" rod and reel and never goes anywhere in the world without it.

Amazing wildlife, seclusion, and scenery

Guest: TPK (Philadelphia, PA)
Date of Stay: 04/01/12 Review Submitted: 05/14/12

This home is an ideal getaway for hiking, grilling, bird and wildlife watching, and relaxing. It is far more secluded than the usual VRBO properties that claim to be, and perfect for humans and pets alike to really stretch their legs. Very simple and comfortable interior; wonderful deck for grilling and stargazing. Very close to great flyfishing. We miss it already.

The Perfect Getaway!

Date of Stay: 07/24/11 Review Submitted: 09/18/11

My husband and I needed alittle R&R while planning our daughters' wedding and dealing with a very sick dog. We wanted someplace where our two dogs did not need to be on lease. The pond was perfect for them. They loved swimming in it. The trails are amazing. After hiking, the dogs jumped in the pond and them we jumped in the beautiful pool! What a life! We only had a few days, slipping inbetween prior reservations. The owner was fantastic to squeeze us in! THANKS! Even though we had a couple of short, nasty storms, the house was perfect to pass the time away! Beatiful and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable as well. What a peaceful place. The pictures do not do it justice! We will surely return, but with regret, just one dog. Sadly, my sick dog died recently. I am grateful that we got to give her one last summer vacation. How she loved running through the fields! Thanks to the owner, we will forever remember her like that, hiking and swimming. If you are looking for someplace private, quiet, relaxing, and absolutely beautiful, this one is it. The owner couldn't be nicer and easier to work with. The local produce was the BEST! We were here at the end of July but I would bet that any season spend here, would be fantastic. It was a little piece of heaven for us!

Owner response:Thank you so much for your wonderful description of the property. Privacy, Peace, comfort and tranquility seem to be an ongoing theme) I'm so pleased that you were able to relax after what sounded like a very stressful time planning your daughters' wedding. I feel terrible that your dog passed on recently and I am very sorry for your loss. I do remember her being so excited and happy when you guys pulled up, this place is a paradise for dogs and humans alike) and I'm glad that you all had a chance to enjoy it together. I look forward to having you back!!! Always my Best Michael

THERE IS SPIRIT THERE IS GRACE IN MY PEACEFUL COUNTRY PLACE!!!

The winding drive takes you up to this quaint country home. Nestled high at the top of the drive you know immediately you have found the country home you've always looked for but thought you would never find. The home combines charm and modern comfort making it the perfect retreat. We enjoyed the simple pleasures. The nice deck with views of the mountains, pool and pond was a wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee or dine under the stars. This property offers absolute privacy. You can appreciate nature, we went for a hike, explored the pond, and looked for the wildlife that surrounds the property. The pool is magnificent overlooking the mountains and surrounded by a fieldstone stone wall. My family truly enjoyed swimming in the pool each day and there's nothing like a moonlight swim under the stars. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting as a family by the fieldstone fire pit and made S'mores each night under the stars and saw the occasional firefly. The property is well maintained and very clean. The sunroom made for a great getaway for our children who slept in that room and felt as if they were camping because of the wonderful view and location of the room to the pond and great skylights. The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable including the bedrooms, we felt at home while staying. The location was ideal to explore the many activities the area has to offer. You are close to Roscoe, which is called Trout Town USA, great fishing, Livingston Manor, Jeffersonville and you are very close to Bethel Woods "Woodstock" if you want to see a concert. We went to nearby Sonoma Falls were my daughter caught a 15" rainbow trout which is amazing since this is the same daughter who didn't want to touch a worm. Shopping in nearby Jeffersonville was nice, it was like going back in time I recommend grocery shopping a Peck's Market there. This is a home where you can put your feet up and relax. The owner is very nice and accommodating and is truly blessed to have such a wonderful country home and I would like to thank you Michael for sharing it with us. Needless to say we had a great time and hope to return soon.

Owner response:It was my pleasure and having guests like You and your family make this all worthwhile. Sharing such a special place with others who appreciate it makes me feel very blessed! I look forward to having you and your family here again as soon as possible! Best regards and safe travels Michael

Wonderful, Relaxing Getaway

Guest: Kathryn (Westchester, NY)
Date of Stay: 05/13/11 Review Submitted: 05/27/11

My husband and I were looking for a relaxing getaway for our anniversary and we certainly found it. This home is so charming and comfortable. It also decorated so nicely! The house is on 80 private acres with several beautiful hiking trails and meadows. We took our dogs out there and they had the time of their lives. Other than hiking, we loved sitting in the living room and looking out over the beautiful little pond. It was too chilly to be in the pool when we were there but that would have also been very nice. Livingston Manor is a short distance away and is a small but cute town for dinner or lunch. Mike was SO great...extremely responsive and had great suggestions for fishing. He couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. We just had an amazing time and will definitely go back as soon as we possibly can. ***Suggestions for dog owners: we took extra "dog towels" to keep the dogs clean after hiking and playing in the yard and were very glad we had them!!

Owner response:I'm glad you mentioned how close we are to such great little towns such as Livingston Manor. If you get tired of all the great amenities and outdoor opportunities on the property, time should be spent exploring the surrounding area, there is a little something for everyone, and of course the BEST fishing, but you need to know someone who knows all the good spots...hmmmm:-)

A true country getaway - just beautiful!

Guest: Rivergirl (New York)
Date of Stay: 05/20/11 Review Submitted: 05/26/11

We love everything about this home and property. The privacy and natural beauty are truly outstanding. It is not "overdone" and uncomfortable. And working with the owner is a real pleasure. He really goes out of his way to make your stay a good one! The home, suprisingly, has everything you need for a nice stay. It is larger than it looks as is the property. Having breakfast by the pond is a real treat- even in the morning fog! A picnic in the little apple orchard - so sweet! A hike through the huge property, a swim in the really pretty pool and an evening BBQ under the stars (such clean air!) ended the day perfectly. The weather was not so great the next few days and we did not feel like sightseeing so we just lazed around reading or watching movies and catching up on some much needed rest. We have rented many homes in the area and this is our favorite. Thank you Michael for sharing it! See you soon!

Owner response:You have a way with words and described this place perfectly! There is something special about this property and it has been my 12 year labor of love. I'm so happy to have shared it with such wonderful guests!! many safe and relaxing returns Always my best Michael
