Spacious, Breezy Home Overlooking Laguna (Lake) De Apoyo
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Granada
We bought this house to enjoy the comforts of a home in a beautiful rural setting close to Granada with a magnificent view of Laguna de Apoyo. The wonderful neighbors have made this a special experience each time we visit. We have everything we need within a walk or short drive. The Laguna, a pulperia (local version convenience store), vistas, quaint towns and Granada.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We purchase and enjoy our Nicaragua house as a true getaway to a differenct experience. More than the tropical environment we enjoy the proximity to rural living Nicaraguans and the easy interaction. This is no resort or enclave for foreign visitors but a modest beautiful house within short distance of many of Nicaragua's best destinations and an easy place to visit with friends and Nicaraguans alike. We particularly enjoy the Laguna de Apoyo which is the view and minutes away by car for swimming and sailing our Hobie Cat......which is available to renters.
A National Park, visit on a sunny day for spectacular views and walk through lush forest

We definitely enjoyed our stay here with wonderful views of Laguna de Apoyo, volcan Mambacho and amenities of home. Close by are the groundskeeper and a neighbor family who made you feel welcome always willing to help with your needs or questions. Look for a 3-Ring Binder of tips, travel spots, and "house" information which was helpful for our stay. We did day trips to Granada, Masaya, Masatepe and Catarina always coming "home" in the evening. Be sure to walk down to the Monkey Hut to relax and swim in the warm water of Laguana de Apoya and have a snack. Also walking from this house to Catrina Mirador along the crater's edge offered breath taking views. Granada is a delightful city, be sure to have a smoothie at Garden Cafe and to Don Luca for phenomenal wood fire pizza.

"Ideal" is the only way to describe our visit to this lovely home. Myself and several friends were lucky enough to stay at this gem in November 2011, and one night was simply not enough. We came away feeling relaxed and rejuvenated and can't wait to come back. The home is beautifully laid out and comfortably furnished with space for medium sized groups or families. Rooms are clean, spacious, and modern yet still emit the warm and welcoming ambiance of a Central American estate. Views of the gorgeous sapphire laguna and towering Mombacho volcano are unbeatable. If you're looking for a quiet, secluded get-away you won't be disappointed, yet some of the country's best restaurants and shopping are only 15 minutes away in Granada. Add this to the fact that the neighbors are friendly, the area is safe and the owners are helpful and knowledgeable and its hard to imagine having anything less than a wonderful experience.

Even more beautiful than the photos capture. We were extremely pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend this house to others. A great get-away for people living in Managua or people traveling through the country.

We had a lovely time there in early November, 2007. Warm days with cool breezes off the lake, cool nights with the windows and doors wide open. Heavenly! Relaxed living with no pressures. Convenient to Granada, spectacular volcanoes, boating. You can even go parasailing, a short walk up the street!

My group had an awesome time at this house. We were in Nicaragua to build a home for a pastor, among other activities, and wanted to stay somewhere affordable and nice. Staying here met both objectives. It was nicer than the hotels we had stayed at previously and a better bargain! The location is convenient to both Masaya and Granada- 15 minutes to either. The restaurant up the hill is pretty good as well. I would highly recommend staying at this house! Rick, the owner, is great to work with, too! It truly is an awesome home and really adds to the overall experience of Nicaragua!

Hi Rick, we are just getting settled back to our life in the city and I want to thank you for the use of your wonderful spot above the lake in Nicaragua. We had an incredible time thanks in no small part to your friends and neighbours around the lake district. The children were open, wide eyed and curious, your immediate neighbours helpful and friendly and the staff you have arranged to look after the house and guests were fantastic and interesting.

My husband and I stayed here for a week in April 2007. We loved the simplicity of the country and the people. Our stay here was the ultimate in relaxation. The view was so wonderful. This house is beautiful and we loved the open air concept. We loved to drive down the hill each morning to a local resort and have breakfast and sail on the laguna. Granada and the Mumbacho volcano are both worth exploring too! You won't be disappointed.

We had a delightful two-week stay in this property in December 2006. The house is new with a wonderful, bright and sunny air to it. You'll love mornings and evenings sipping your coffee or a drink as you relax and gaze down upon a beautiful circular blue lake below that sits in the bowl of an ancient extinct volcano. For my wife and I this was our first visit to Central America and we can't say enough about the warmth and friendliness of the Nicaraguan folks we met. Great restaurants and much sightseeing to do in nearby Granada and other parts of Nicaragua--we're definitely planning for a return stay in the future.
