Bernards Landing is generally acknowledged to be the premier resort on Smith Mountain Lake, with homes priced from approximately $200,000 to over $800,000. The resort has every amenity including two swimming pools, racquetball, a private health club, a Jacuzzi, an award-winning waterfront gourmet restaurant, a waterfront tiki bar lounge, a marina, a sandy beach, boat ramp, and boat docks.
Our condominium sits on a slight grassy hill and overlooks a broad cove with the mountains in the background. Our ground floor unit opens to a broad deck that runs the width of the condominium, and to a manicured grassy field that slopes to the water, the sandy beach, and the boat slips available for your boat. Sliding glass doors extend across the back of the condominium and afford a broad view of the mountains to the left and the lake to the right. The southeasterly view offers a magnificent view of the sun rising over the mountains. At night, the moon rising over the mountain reflects off the water for truly romantic setting.
The lake and the many outdoor facilities at Bernards are enough to keep anyone busy, but we realize that everyone must come inside at some point. Our condominium is in excellent condition and beautifully furnished to offer you everything that you might need to make your vacation a memorable stay. The living room and dining room stretch across the back of the condominium, and offer lake and mountain views. A wood-burning fireplace in the corner of the living room is available if you need to warm up a chilly night, or just to give a warm glow to a romantic evening.
As most rentals, we furnish two TVs with cable, but we also provide a VCR with a collection of video tapes - old and new - for your relaxation. An assortment of board games, card, books, and magazines are also provided.
Our unit includes all linens, towels, and paper products. The only thing that you will need to bring is your food, laundry detergent, hair dryer and beach towels. A washer and dryer are furnished for your convenience.
If you prefer to dine out, there is a world-class restaurant (voted best in the Roanoke area) overlooking the marina and just a short walk across the street. A cozy tiki bar, open year round, offers entertainment during the summer, and a snack bar is located at one of the pools during the summer season. There are several other restaurants within a 10 minute or less drive from our condo.

There is a boat ramp on the property. Boat slips for your boat are located in front of the condominium and the marina across the street offers boat rentals and parasailing trips.
Smith Mountain lake is the largest freshwater lake in Virginia and has often been called the "Lake Tahoe" of the East. The waters are clean and clear, and the mountains plunging steeply into the water are truly dramatic. The lake is over 40 miles long, has a shore line of over 500 miles, and offers some of the best water sports and fishing on the east coast. Most of the state's Striped Bass records have been caught in Smith Mountain, including the current state record of approximately 54 pounds.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo
We love the views of the lake and the hills. Bernards Landing has so much open space that you can't find in the newer developements. We love the early morning walks on the peninsula watching the sun rise over the mountain or the late afternoon sunset over the lake. The fact that the Landing Restaurant and the Tiki Bar are across the street is really nice for the nights we want to go out.

We live and work in Richmond, VA (2 and one/half hours away) and visit Smith Mountain Lake whenever we can (which is not often enough). Ken grew up in Bedford, Virginia and has always loved the area. It did not take much convincing on his part to convince Peggy to purchase property at Smith Mountain Lake. We are a few years away from retirement but hope to semi-retire at the lake some day. We have made many friends at the lake and now consider that home (we just aren't living there yet). Ken is self employed and operates several businesses and Peggy works for the Federal Courts. When at the lake, we enjoy boating, relaxing, and visiting with our friends.

We enjoyed our stay at this condo. The owners have recently renovated the inside and it looks new. It is nicely decorated and convenient to the docks for boating and close to the pools. The restaurant, The Landing, is an easy walk across the street. This waterfront unit has a good view of Smith Mountain. We would definitely rent from Ken and Peggy again.

There seems to be a common theme for all who come here. What we were hoping for never really happened. Closed restaurants, little sunshine and too warm weather. Terry and I should have known better than to come here with expectations. I say this because what we received far exceeded what we had hoped for. The majesty of God's creation was an absolute sensory overload. Plenty of quiet time to talk, nothing to do but enjoy each other's company, getting soaked feeding the ducks and gulls and my personal favorite, th clouds overwhelming the mountain top. I know it sounds like it was a boring weekend but nothing could be further from the truth. We prayed, we read, we talked, and we enjoyed each other's company. These were the things we would truly appeciate. Thank you for three days of what life is all about.

We had a great weekend here at the condo. A nice way to spend Thanksgiving. The fireplace was quite nice for the chilly November nights. The condo is totally equipped with all you need for a weekend or a week. Only wish we had more time use the jacuzzi and enjoy the view. You have a great place (we love the tropical motif) which we enjoyed very much. There are indeed "creatures" here. we saw five deer and one possum during our two nights here.

We lovedthe weekend that we stayed at Smith Mountain Lake. It was a time for relaxation and a time to get away from everything. We enjoyed the condo, it was beautiful. The view was great and we like being close to the pool, hot tub, and the Cabana Bar. On Friday night, we ate at The Landing and the food was really nice. We plan on coming back next year and bringing our families. Thanks for letting us use your condo.

Thank you so much for sharing your tropical paradise with us! My boys, Matthew (6) and David (3) especially loved waking up to the Toucans. We've been so lucky to have beautiful weather. The boys have enjoyed every minute of sand and water surrounded by mountains. We've also bonded with the two darling ducks who joined us for several meals. Never heard of "Nickle Creek" before, but really enjoyed the CD.
