Created with Mediterranean-White simplicity and colonial Mexican allure, this hilltop home in San Miguel de Allende has a magnificent panoramic view of this colonial town and the mountains around it - perfect for watching the sunrise or sunset from the outdoor terrace or living room with fireplace.
It is furnished with Mexican mesquite furniture designed by the architect-owner and made in a village near San Miguel, while the stone flooring comes from a quarry just over the mountains. Classic Mexican folk art from the state of Michoacan adds color and warmth throughout the spacious, three-bedroom home, and brilliant bougainvillea blooms in the central courtyard as a fountain splashes serenely. A domed brick ceiling with roots in 16th-century Spain shelters the pretty outdoor terrace. Here every room comes with a beautiful view.
This elegant yet relaxed home can easily accommodate a family and sleeps eight. There are two bedrooms with king-size beds, one with twins, and a fold-down futon couch in the living room. Ceiling fans throughout provide cooling, while a sub-floor heating system can be used during the colder months of October through February (though little heating is required because the house is well insulated). Other amenities include cable TV, CD stereo system, and VCR.
Town and market lie an easy ten-minute walk downhill, and a taxi-ride back (when you are loaded with purchases) costs a little over a dollar. The home comes with a housekeeper, who is a great cook for the main mid-afternoon (la comida) meal or lunch. She can also help with the grocery shopping if given taxi and grocery money.
The management company, La Casa (phone in San Miguel 1547657), is on call 24 hours a day to take care of any unexpected house problems. See La Casa booklet for a world of information about what to see and do, plus the names and phone numbers of taxis, tour guides, physicians, and other services.
Leasing rates for this three-bedroom home with great style and gorgeous views begin at $900 a week; monthly and long-term rates available. For more information, please call (210) 533-1574. |
