We had a great time, the aprtment was near to the station and close to the walls of Lucca, the train line had good connections and we made use of these travelling to Florence and Pisa although if we had had time even more might have been accomplished but staying for six nights you can only do so much. Lella was a lovely host and a going to her farm kitchen out in the country to learn how to make our own pasta was definitely worthwhile! Sampling this with freshly bottled olive oil and zucchini (or courgettes:) from her garden was great, as well as the beautiful views across the mountains when you stepped out of the kitchen. Overall for the price, location and helpfulness of Lella I would definitely recommend others to come and enjoy what we did.:)

Spent six, very enjoyable, days staying at this apartment. It is in a great location, just outside the walls of the city and only a short walk to the train station. The apartment was very clean and bright, with windows that look onto a small lawn with table and chairs. Lella provided us with a welcome basket when we arrived, including pasta for dinner that night and we even had the chance to make our own at her cookery school-a highlight of the holiday, thank you!

We all had a lovely stay at Gli Archi. Clean and comfortable and a perfect base for exploring Lucca / Tuscany. Lella and her husband were very warm and welcoming and accomodating to our needs. A hamper of food essentials was waiting for us when we arrived. Butcher / baker right just along the street and a convenience store a couple of minutes away. Really enjoyed the cookery class in Lella's farmhouse up in the hills. Farmhouse has gorgeous panoramic views of the valley below.

We were two couples looking for a base in Lucca from which to explore both Lucca and the northern part of Tuscany. As we were using trains and buses to travel around the location of the apartment was excellent value. We got to know the area and the walk to the train station was the start of our days adventures. the market was close by and they could not have been more helpful as well as the butcher shop. we did make Roxy's Bar our first stop of the day and sometimes our last stop of the day. Lots of fun and they were very helpful teaching us Italian. Leila was also wonderful as we had a great day making and cooking and eating pasta. Other reviews are all relevant. Minor issues the beds may need some upgrading.

We had a lovely stay in this apartment. We found its location very central, only 5 mins walk from the train station, which then took us most places we wanted to visit in the area. The apartment was very clean and had all we needed. There was a welcoming basket provided on our arrival which contained enough for a meal on our first evening as well as tea bags and biscuits - essential for visitors from the UK! The only slightly negative thing about the apartment was that there wasn't an awful lot of space, but there were 5 of us and it didn't really bother is since we were out most of the time. Lella was very helpful, and we particularly enjoyed a cookery lesson with Lella in her own kitchen making homemade pasta, the best we've ever tasted! Lucca is amazing. We hired bikes to cycle round the city walls and also inside the city and would recommend this to anyone. Another highlight of our stay was watching the sun set over Firenze from the Piazzale Michelangelo.

This was a wonderful trip to Lucca with our family. Lella was very welcoming to Gli Archi, which was the perfect location for vacation plans. We were less than a 10 minute walk to the train station, and a short distance to the wall of Lucca. This is a very relaxed community with much to see and do. The cafe was just around the corner for a morning cup of cappuccino. The butcher shop and market both were convenient for basic needs, a bottle of wine, and snacks. With the train so convenient, we only ended up renting a car for 2 days of our week-long trip. The apartment was clean and offered all the basic necessities for a laid back trip to this beautiful area of Italy.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your kindness. I hope to meet you again Lella

The apartment was just as described on the website. There is a busy main road close by-but you really are only 8 minutes from the station, so we could get to the Cinque Terra, Florence, and Siena by train easily. Very easy walk into Lucca also. This is an expensive area of Italy, so it was great to not be spending a fortune and living with the locals. The appt was within 50 metres from a lovely restaurant/pizzeria where the locals eat very cheaply,so there was no need to cook. We were made very welcome despite their total lack of English-great. We liked the local water fountain between the station and the appt always with a queue of Luccans wanting to fill bottles with water. The local grocery store was WONDERFUL. Only 30 metres away and had everything. The owner of the appt couldn't have been more helpful. As we arrived on a Sunday she had left pasta and sauce as survival rations, and told me about the local Sunday market which was great despite the rain. Ask the owner about discount to the Spa at Montalcatino. Her cookery courses are good, but get there by train. Downs- not many- oven very small and inadequate- but what the heck- the restaurant is so close. The owner couldn't have been more helpful-including sending back to the UK my ancient mob phone charger. She arrived when she said she would and had plenty of time to talk about activities etc.

It isn't always easy to find an affordable, comfortable place to stay when traveling with two small children, parents and a grandparent but Gli Archi did the job. The apartment has the essentials and is located a short walk (even for a small child) from the train station and Lucca's walls. We were able to take the train to Florence and Pisa on several occasions as well as enjoy bike rides along Lucca's walls. Lella's wonderful hospitality and dedication to keeping people happy set the tone from the beginning; even though we had a minor problem with the shower head on our first night there, she had someone come over to fix it before the night was through. We truly enjoyed our stay.

We had a relaxing week's stay in Lucca this past October at the ‘Gli Archi’ apartment. We enjoyed the short walk along the aqueduct to the train station or to the wall and Lucca. Although we had a car, the train was very convenient to visit both Florence and the Cinque Terre. The apartment was a great place to come back to after a tiring day of sightseeing in the Tuscan countryside. We appreciated having the washing machine and parking space. The grocery store and pizzeria near the apartment were very convenient. The butcher, just a few steps away, has meats, great sausage, and good wine. We were never disappointed by his recommendations. The ‘Gli Archi’ apartment is just as it appears in the pictures. It is spacious and would be comfortable for a family or for two couples. Lella is very nice and accommodating. If we come back to Lucca we would definitely stay in this apartment and highly recommend it to others.

We stayed at this apartment in September. It is outside the wall & is a good 20 minute walk to get inside to the old city where all the action is. Lella was very accommodating at short notice. The accommodation was clean & comfortable. The walk from the station is 15mins, the road is busy when setting out, however with a little exploring we found alternative tracks to returning home from the city and the station. Dinner at Lellas farmhouse was all local cuisine and very enjoyable. Lella was able to help us with answers to lots of local questions, Lucca is a gem of a city, very affordable restaurants & lots of fun things to do.
