The apartment is located in Chueca. Read up about it on any website and you'll discover that apart from being a stones throw from the center of Madrid - Sol, Chueca itself has great, restaurants, bars, shopping, nightlife and sightseeing all within 10 mins walk of the apartment. You really don't need a car to get around. The metro, bus and train system in Madrid works like clockwork and there are always plenty of taxis. If you want to wander out of Madrid there is also very good and cheap public transport available.
Only the best is good enough for my renters! The apartment is not huge but at least you have a bedroom, a good size living room and well supplied kitchen, which is already more than you'll get in a hotel. A small grocery store is two doors away on Calle Hortaleza 39 where you can buy all sorts of additional supplies. The apartment has cable TV and Broadband with WiFi internet access.
Please note that this apartment is on the top (5th) floor and the building does not have a lift. Being on the top definitely has it's advantages, it is very quite. Although the apartment is on a busy street the apartment is quiet because it is at the back of the building and hence does not get the street noise, you have the perfect combination of being in the center of the bustle but being able to switch off from it when you wish to get some peace and quiet. The apartment is 'Exterior' which means that it gets natural light and sun shine. In Madrid there are many 'Interior' apartments that do not have natural light since the windows look into the interior patio of the building.

I stayed four nights in this well located apartment in the Chueca neighborhood. The decor is attractive. The bed is firm and comfortable. The interior apartment is reasonably quiet for being in a lively neighborhood. The five floor walkup was a little daunting at the beginning and end with luggage, but given how much walking I did in Madrid, it was the least of my exercise. The hosts are very responsive and helpful. I would stay again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

I stayed in this apartment for one week, with two early '20's daughters, on our girls' trip to Spain. The apartment was just as described, and just as shown in the pictures. There are 5 flights of stairs, we were prepared for them, and they were good exercise for us after our days of wine, beer, tapas and churros con chocolat consumption. The apartment was very clean upon our arrival and obviously well kept. The neighbourhood is trendy, and a lot of fun to walk through and explore. Excellent shopping and lovely little local restaurants everywhere. A funky neighbourhood, easily within walking distance of the major attractions and museums in Madrid. The owner was very helpful throughout the entire rental process and left contact numbers for us should we need to be in touch. Most appreciated were the maps, suggested walking tours, listing of local necessities such as grocery stores, markets, subway, etc that were nicely organized in a binder, with copies of everything for us to take as we needed them. I would definitely recommend this apartment to those who are adventurous, in good health and looking for an authentic Madrid experience. Definitely an apartment that I would return to, should I ever get back to Madrid.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

A very pleasant and quiet apartment getaway above the hustle and bustle of Madrid and La Chueca. Nicely appointed and completely as advertised. Very solid internet connection--much appreciated. Ranpal was helpful and attentive to the details. For folks who are active and don't mind the five flights of stairs we don't think you could possibly do better for the price. Coming from car-centric U.S., we found Madrid wonderfully walkable, and this apartment is really close to the center of it all. Great experience, highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? The description of the property is extremely accurate. The apartment is a small one bedroom in very nice shape that is very comfortable for two adults. You could squeeze a couple of more in, but I think it would be tight. It has lovely roof top views of Madrid. It is in an excellent location, walking distance to many of the major attractions. A very good value. If climbing stairs are an issue, this is not the place for you. The description is very clear - many stairs. Really. If Internet is important to you, the WIFI is excellent. The kitchen is well stocked and they even provide you with some of the basics like coffee, olive oil, salt and pepper. Fantastic location, really good places in the area whatever you may be looking for. Although it is a busy street life 24/7, the apartment is quite and you can sleep undisturbed. Well equipped, well located, well kept and overall a pleasant experience. I stayed for 12 days on a business trip and had my brother visit over the weekend...so it truly felt like I was at home. The only heads up is the fifth floor...I enjoyed the free work out but you have to be cool with climbing the stairs!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!Did you find this review helpful? Great location & everything you need to have a comfortable stay, although the shower is quite small for a 6ft 200lb male! We appreciated having a few groceries available (eg olive oil, black pepper, offee etc). There is a good grocery store & markets nearby. We had a small problem with the TV & the owner got back to us immediatel & it was sorted out. There were full instructions covering everything which were very helpful. The 5 flights of stairs can be a challenge with luggage & at the end of a day walking around Madrid - but it did increase our fitness! The lights in the stairwell turn off quite quickly - when you are trying to go quietly & slowly with your luggage! We were also very pleased to have the fan as it was very warm when we were in Madrid. Getting to the apartment using the metro from the airport was very easy. Very comfortable apartment, spotlessly clean, in a location that could not have been more convenient. It was on the 5th floor which entailed going up 5 floors but not really a problem if one is reasonably fit. The only drawback was for Madrid summers, even the open windows on the 5th floor could not make up for the above 30 degree temp. and one has to contend with street and construction noise that goes well into early morning. About the owner: This pic was taken in Mota del Cuervo, a couple of hours drive from Madrid in the area where Cervantes set his Don Quijote stories, we went windmill spotting - and we saw lots and lots and lots of them! We love to travel and have been to and lived in many places, we know what is important when one travels so we hope at our apartment you will have that unique travel experience!
