Exquisitely Furnished Home in Landmark Historic District

Year Purchased: 2000

Why the Owner Chose Savannah

I believe that Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I had always dreamed of owning a historic home in this incredible city. In 2000, I purchased this home, which at the time was operating as an owner occupied Bed and Breakfast. For 2 years, I operated the property as a Bed and Breakfast. In 2002, my family and I were able to travel to Italy. While in Italy, the entire family stayed in a villa. After that experience, I decided that families and groups traveling to Savannah should be able to experience my city that way too. In 2003, I ceased operating this home as a Bed and Breakfast and began offering this property as a vacation rental home exclusively. Savannah is such a great city...why not experience the history for yourself.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Our home is conveniently located in the heart of Savannah’s landmark historic district on Broughton Street between Price and Houston Street. Guests can easily walk to our beautiful green squares & other historic sites. There are many shops and fine restaurants within a five minute walk. We have off-street parking for two vehicles as well as street parking.

Owner's Map of Savannah

My name is Robbie Bell. I work in real estate. I love to travel. After having the opportunity to travel to many different cities, I still believe that Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The history, architecture, and local culture of Savannah are all unique. What better way to experience the architecture and history of Savannah than staying in a beautiful historic home? I really can't think of any.
This picture was taken while visiting Chengdu, China in early 2009. While in Chengdu, I was fortunate enough to visit the Giant Panda Research Center and interact with a panda cub, under the supervision of a research scientist.

    • My wife and I were in Savannah for our daughter's wedding and rented the house and carriage house at 511 E. Broughton Street for ourselves and other members of the wedding party. Both locations were wonderful and worked out better than hoped for. The young folks had a place to hang out in the carriage house, and the older crowd got the house. The location is easy walking distance to downtown, the property is well furnished and maintained and exactly as advertised. We will rent the carriage house for ourselves on our next trip to Savannah.

    • This is a charming house in a great location! We had four couples stay and we took both the main house and carriage house. All the rooms were wonderfully decorated. We were within walking distance of all the sightseeing and restaurants in historic Savannah. Plan at least an hour or so to tour this home and carriage house during your stay.

    • Wonderful house in a great location. We loved the front area, the rear area, and the home itself. Seven women and we all loved it - it must be good. I recommend this home to anyone who can go up stairs (bedrooms up) but an air bed can be used downstairs for anyone not able to climb. The home is furnished with lovely antiques, nice TVs, patio furniture, kitchen is great. Had a fax, phone, all the appliances we would ever need and lovely artwork. We enjoyed the huge dining room table to sit around and party and laugh. Please do yourself a favor and stay at this home. The rental agent and owners are top notch, too. We will be back.

    • Stayed in the carraige house and it is exactly as the web site shows. Lovely neighborhood and close to all the attractions. Highly recommend the horse and carraige tour of the down town area. Needed car only to find grocery store.

    • We spent a weekend in the carriage house behind the main home. The carriage house is extremely tasteful, and well done. Location and quality at a very reasonable price add up to a great value. Highly recommended!

    • A group of us recently went on a group trip to Savannah and rented both the main house and carriage house. Both are beautifully decorated, the kitchens are outfitted with top-end appliances, and it is obvious that the owner spares no expense in making this a memorable place to stay. We walked from here to just about every part of the historic district, using the car only when it rained one night. My wife and I have traveled throughout the country and stayed in just about every type of lodging you can think of, and we agree that this property is by far the best value we have ever experienced. It gives you more in the way of amenities and convenience than you will get in many places – and after dividing the cost among those of us who stayed here (four couples) we wound up paying less than you would for many bed-and-breakfasts and even many hotels. On top of that, the owner was very easy to work with. We will definitely return.

    • Girls Weekend at 511 Broughton Street in Savannah, was the best. Prior to our arrival, we were given recommendations on what to see and do. Upon our arrival, we could not stop taking pictures of the home, it was so beautiful. This trip was planned for a girls weekend, and this house was perfect. The rooms were large enough to allow all 6 of us to gather up in each room comfortably for games and conversation. We were in walking distance of everything that we had wanted to see, we only had to move our vehicle to go to Tybee Beach and to the grocery store. We were able to walk to the Market Place, plenty of the squares of Savannah and the River District.
