A beautiful, luxurious Provençal village house totally renovated in 2012 ideally situated in the medieval village of Murs (500 metres altitude) with it's Château dating back to the XVth century, only eight kilometres from the famous hilltop and one of the most 'beautiful villages of France' Gordes and its 'village des bories', 30 kilometres from Sault the lavender country and in the Luberon Natural Park.
This spacious, sunlit village house, freshly renovated and elegantly decorated has a secluded roof top terrace, separate self contained apartment and is ideal for those who wish to retire from busy city hustle and bustle. Enjoy being part of a French village. You have a beautiful spa on terrace sheltered from the wind and looks.
Relax and go for long walks through the beautiful unspoilt countryside,in particular around the Moulin de veroncle and the Abbaye de Senanque.
Visit Avignon and its museums, the Palais des Papes, le Pont d'Avignon or le Pont du Gard. Explore the Port of Marseille and its calanques, go horseback riding in the Camargue or visit the antique Roman Arenas in Nimes.
The famous hilltop villages of Roussillon, Lacoste and the Marquis de Sade's Château, Bonnieux and Oppède le Vieux are all nearby and St Rémy and Les Baux are within 30 minutes drive. Visit a different market every day of the week and buy fresh strawberries and melons.
Dine out in excellent restaurants and visit the local wine cellars. In an afternoon you can sample wines varying from Vacqueras, Châteauneuf de Pape to Côtes de Ventoux and Côtes de Luberon.
The house amply accommodates six adults. Thick stone walls will keep you cool in the hot summer and the sophisticated central heating system warm in the chilly winter.
The tastefully decorated, confortable sunny lounge with its ceiling 'à la française' has plenty of deep sofas to collapse into after long walks. Many fascinating paintings bought by the owners look down on you from the expansive walls.
The dining area has a soft lit atmosphere for long evening meals and greets easily eight people for dinner. There is a very wide selection of books, art, history, and cookery, in the library to enjoy not forgetting an excellant selection of music, DVD's plus English speaking channels on the satellite TV.
The fully equipped kitchen opens out onto the village lanes and has a huge Smeg stove with six-burner top and rotisserie oven and a battery of cooking utensils for the amateur chef. There are high quality pots and pans and plenty of stylish dishes and glassware.
As you walk up the old tommette tiled stairs you will come to the first floor landing, on one side a door leads to the self contained studio apartment. The studio apartment has a large sleeping area and separate sitting room and kitchenette. It has a large and luxurious bathroom with separate Italien shower, bath tub, Water Closet and double washbasins. It has an independent entrance onto a charming village lane-way.
On the same level there is a lovely sunny bedroom with queen-size bed and view over the countryside and village houses. Adjacent is a spacious bathroom again with separate bath tub, Italien shower, Water Closet and double washbasins.
Up another little flight of steps and you will discover the delightful master bedroom with its pretty cosy lounge area and superb marble tiled ensuite bathroom with separate bath tub, Italien shower, Water Closet and double washbasins.
There is plenty of cupboard space and access to the flowered, roof top terrace, ideal for aperitifs and evening meals or lazy breakfasts.

Lovely property in quiet, hilltop village with beautiful views. We were especially impressed by kitchen and bathrooms, all of which have been recently and tastefully redone. Double sinks in all bathrooms! Fast wifi and good selection of movies, although we usually found ourselves falling into bed early. Murs' one hotel offers wonderful dining. Nearby Roussillon and Gordes provide charming shops, restaurants, markets and other Provencal amenities. Very comfortable for 3 couples. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

Our stay at this beautiful hilltop retreat fulfilled our expectations. The photos and description accurately depicted the residence. The small city of Murs was a central location for discovery of the hill towns. Visiting the markets supplied great fresh food for preparing in this fully equipped kitchen, however, the nearby excellent bakery and small hotel restaurant provided stiff competition to home cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend this rental.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
