Wonderful Place

I can't say enough good things about this cabin! I stayed with my mom here for a week and it was everything the owners said it would be and more! It was nicely decorated and had all the comforts of home! It is in a great location, you can be on the beach in 5 minutes. Very quiet and peaceful. The cabin was very clean, and everything worked as it should. Great price! The owners are very professional and easy to deal with. The fall is the perfect time to go because the weather is still warm, but their aren't very many people! Other things we did included chartering a sailboat with Norstar Ventures in Little River, South Carolina. Can't say enough good things about our experience with Captains John and Beth. Would also highly recommend going to Bald Head Island for the day. Go there early though as a lot of things close around 5 or 6. The aquarium at Kure Beach is another great place to go too. Thanks again Chuck and Julie for sharing your Cabin! Me and my mom made memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives!

Cozy Cabin was great!

We loved this home away from home for our beach vacation! We have 2 little ones and the big, fenced backyard was perfect for them to run in. There were also lots of toys and child-appropriate dishes included, along with plenty of books, puzzles and games. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean and tidy. Everything you could possibly need was available. For dinner, we liked Sears Landing (on the left, just before the bridge) and we liked Buddy's (over the bridge, on the water front). We also liked Batson's Galley for lunch or breakfast (just down the road from the house). We would highly recommend this home!! We will definitely return!

GREAT place to stay!

My friends and I had a wonderful time at The Fish Camp. The house is eclectic and interesting. The backyard is much bigger than the pictures show. My friend was able to pull his boat right up to the backyard in the ICW to pick us up. We all knew upon arrival that we wanted to come back and stay again.

"Best vacation ever!"

Guest: Maggie (Pittsburgh PA)

This is the quote recently given by our 20 year old. When asked why he thought it was the best, he said, "It was the coolest house ever!" We have six kids from age 3 to 19 and we couldn't imagine how perfect this house would be for all of us. The adults go up early with the youngest children to fish from the back yard while the teenagers slept until the late hours of the morning just in time to make the short drive to the beach-- 5 minutes! The house had everything you could possibly need and then some. It really was a pleasure and we will definitely be back--- maybe just with the two adults this time for a little quiet time. Thanks for the wonderful memories!

great house for a family with young children!

This house made our vacation. We have a 2 1/2 year old, and this house was completely child proofed, safe, clean and had tons of toys, books, and eating utensils for us. My son actually never wanted to leave the house to go to the beach! For adults, it is stocked with books, cds, dvds, has 2 porch swings, a hammock and is just an all around perfect place to get away and relax. The owners are amazing, helped us with small issues that came up and even dropped off something we forgot when they were out near where we lived. I hope we can return here for years to come.

Owner response:Thanks for the kind words and we look forward to your next visit!

Exceeded Expectations

This adorable cottage situated right on the ICW was so relaxing and peaceful, yet just a few minutes drive to the beach, restaurants and shopping. The decor is quite whimsical and fun. The house was very well kept and has plenty of seating inside and out to view the water. We also enjoyed the town of Surf City which was friendly and clean. The beaches were beautiful, not too crowded and a walk on the pier was nice. We enjoyed a meal at Buddy's Restaurant ( less than 5 minutes from the cottage) which overlooks the ocean and took a day trip to Bear Island; an uninhabited state park accessible only by ferry in nearby Swansboro. Thanks to the owners for providing this wonderful retreat. We would recommend everything highly!

Wonderful spot for relaxed "me" time! The unique decor of this cottage reflects humor and charm, and it offers comfort and convenience as well. Gorgeous sunrises from the hammock while having a cup of tea will be a happy memory from my time here!

We really enjoyed this set up. On short notice needed a quick place to get away from it all and relax. Stayed here for a few nights in late sept and had a fantastic time. The house is creative and fun, the beach is close, the beds are comfy, its exactly what we needed. Rental was seamless. Thanks

I stayed here with my family of 5 + a newborn and really enjoyed the location and atmosphere. 5 minute drive to the center of Surf city to enjoy the beach or eat at the restaurants. 5 minutes inland you have a miniature golf and supermarket available. Nice quiet location and will visit again. Thanks!

We enjoyed 3 days in this cozy and very comfortable cottage with our family. The surroundings are peaceful and inviting with the water off the large back yard and the shaded back porch. The outside area is very private with the plantings and the inside is well furnished to provide comfort. The kitchen is well furnished so any meal preparation is possible. I would recommend this property to anyone.

We spent 3 days at the cabin prior to our sons deployment. It was a great place to be able to have family time inside or out. The kitchen is great to fix any type of meal you want and the cabin was very clean and everything in working order.

My family and I stayed at the cabin and loved it. The floor plan is excellent, the back yard is great. The kids (9 and 14) enjoyed catching crabs off the bulkhead. The 5 minute drive to the beach was great. We can't say enough good things about it!!!!

The fish camp was a great weekend getaway. A huge backyard is great for kids to run around and the bulkhead was the perfect fishing spot. Chuck and Julie were great to work with and the house was only 1 mile from the pier.

Our getaway was amazing. This is the perfect place to just relax and enjoy the peaceful serenity of the water. We have always stayed ocean front but after staying at this waterfront cabin, we definately have a different view of things. We love to fish and it was so great to just walk out the back door and fish anytime we wanted. This home was so well equipped and cleaned to perfection. Thanks to the wireless internet, I was able to stay connected to work so I could extend our stay another day. The only downside to this cabin was having to leave. We can't wait to visit again. Thank you so much for an unforgetable vacation.

I stayed at this cabin from April 10 - June 29, 2008. What a great place! I loved to open all of the windows and breathe the great air that seemed to always blow in from the nearby Atlantic. The back yard is spectacular. I enjoyed walking back to the bulkhead to watch the sun come up while enjoying a coffee before work. As an angler, I could catch all the bait that I needed from the back yard and feast on blue crab. The kitchen was open and complete, great for a family or a chef. As a long term guest, I used all of the systems: AC, washer/dryer, etc and everything works great! There wasn't a day or night that I had wished that I'd stayed somewhere else. I even commented on how nicely it was decorated, my wife was shocked!

We stayed in this charming house March 22-29, even had an Easter egg hunt in the back yard. It fit our family needs from ages 94 years to four months. The house is imaginatively decorated and super for families with children. Comfortable places to sit and relax, both inside and out. Lovely views of the Intercoastal Waterway, and close to the beach.

Recently we were faced as a family to be with our father who was seriously ill. We had to quickly find a place to stay during his illness. We were treated with kindness and understanding during this difficult time by Julie and Chuck. The cabin was perfect. We felt comfort and peace driving back to it in the evenings. The owners were supportive in our needs and we greatly appreciated their kindess.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a weekend down at Topsail during the Off Peak season and it was an excellent choice to stay at this cabin. It was raining the first night, but their was plenty of entertainment in the house. The decoration alone was enough to entertain us. We felt like we were in a home away from home.

The cabin is a wonderful place to stay, with calming views of the water and a short ride to the beach. This was a much better choice than a hotel room. We definitely wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks, Darren
