Great Stay at the Beach!

We stayed in this condo last weekend as a long weekend retreat at the beach with our 2 small children. We couldn't have asked for better weather or a better beach front location! The view from the deck was fabulous, and we enjoyed all sorts of wildlife on our beach walks (and dolphin-spotting from the deck). The condo was well-maintained, clean, and simply furnished yet accomodating. It had everything we needed! This is an older condo complex, and you can see a little wear here & there, but keep in mind beach front properties can be hard to maintain each season! We would gladly stay again, and appreciate Cathy opening her beach home to our family! Thanks a bunch!

Your condo is lovely and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Since the weather was a bit cool and rainy, the protected balcony was perfect for enjoying the beach. The whole island is charming. We couldn't believe we could see the ocean through depression in the dune as we approached North Topsail. We once owned a condo on Jekyll Island, GA and have vacationed to many North and South Carolina Island but Topsail Island is unique. We also enjoyed your book about Topsail History. We hope to come back. Your island and condo was perfect.

This would be a great rental, if it had a different owner! We stayed 2 nights and were accused of checking in a day early, staying longer than we did, and trashing the place! Which we did not! First, the owner tried to charge us extra for the maid telling her we were there a day early??!?! When we did check in, the beds were not made, but, no big deal, we made them ourselves. Later we discovered the toilet had not been cleaned, disgusting! The oven is ancient and burns everything, there were ants munching on the food we left sitting on the counter, and all of the "toys" in the outside closet were covered in sand/debris. The screen door was leaning against the wall on the deck. 10 days after we left we received yet another email from the owner saying she was going to charge us for the condition the maid said we left it in. Cake spread on the walls? Please, give me a break. The availability calendar shows it isn't booked at all - if I were you, I'd keep it that way and stay somewhere else!!!! Can't wait to see if/what the "owner" says in response to this. PS - the last review before mine was in 2008 - makes you wonder why no reviews have been posted in a while. AVOID THE HEADACHE AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Owner response:PLEASE READ OWNERS RESPONSE. We have not charged additional monies even though we felt that we should pay our cleaning lady extra for the work she has had to do. Pasted below is the email I received after the Holts left my beautiful condo. Cathy, Hi...Just wanted to let you know that the condo from your recent guest was a mess...not sure how many people stayed...but there was cake smeared on the walls...All the linens were used and quite frankly it took almost 4 hours to clean..all the toilet paper is gone...all the paper towels are gone...and all the trashbags are gone...nothing was replaced and it was HORRIBLE....please don't rent to these folks again...:) I don't understand people...you supply such a nice rental property and some people have no problem trashing it....people SUCK sometimes, huh? oh well, sorry, but if you haven't refunded their deposit...you may want to think about keeping some of it... I was wondering why the man wouldn't let me in when I got there that day...I wish I had insisted, but? no real reason why...I truly think they had been there for a while, if not the night before.... I have removed all the linens from the condo to wash...when is your next scheduled guest? sorry to be the bearer of bad news, (again) thanks, beverly

Weather has been perfect, sunny, breezy. Full moon. It was so nice to revisit Topsail Beach. The condo decor "tastefully beachy" and well appointed. We have truly enjoyed our vacation time here.

Once again we had a FANTASTIC time in your condo! The property was clean, beautiful and a great place to call 'home' for our week-long stay at North Topsail. Thank you so much for providing our family with such a wonderful place to stay. Your directions were perfect and we appreciated everything your rental property provided.....beach toys, chairs, umbrella....couldn't have asked for anything better! We loved eating breakfast on the balcony, and having the beach and pool just steps away was PERFECT for us. Loved the local restaurants and turtle rescue center. Can't wait to come back this summer!

We had a wonderful vacation. The beach was so much fun. Our children really enjoyed playing in the waves and collecting sea shells. Our son loved fishing at the pier and chasing crabs on the beach. My daughter enjoyed our visit to the Sea Turtle Hospital and looks forward to visiting the new location next summer. We all enjoyed the moon light strolls on the beach with our flashlights. The week went by too fast. It is hard to believe it is time to go home. We really love the location and the view of the beach from the balcony. We hope to return soon extending our stay to 2 weeks next time. It was relaxing and nice to not have to go non stop. Thanks for sharing your condo with us.

We had a wonderful time at this beach! The condo was in the perfect location. The island locals treated us well. We enjoyed the night life at the Sand Bar and had an amazing taxi driver named Rex. ( Island Taxi ). We had a great seafood buffet experience at Madison't in Sneads Ferry. Wilmington Beach is about 45 minutes away. Battleship North Carolina was great. You can enjoy a quick boat trip right next to the Battleship as well. Downtown Wilmington was a great place to walk around, especially for you "One Tree Hill" fans! The beach was very nice, not crowded at all. We have told our family and friends about this beach and you condo. We will be planning another trip in the future. Hope all your future visitors have as great of a time as we did.

Took a couple of days to get used to the schedul of Topsail. Restaurants open at 5 and shops close at 7. That being said everywhere we went to eat had outstanding food and service. The condo is nicely furnished and decorated. Noise from other units was isolated from ours. We had fun driving our Honda on the loose sand at the end of the island. You can get some great pictures from there. Watching the full moon rise was amazing. It shined an amber beam of light from the beach to the ocean. Our 2 year old daughter loved to sit on the deck and play with her seashells. This place is very relaxing and we had an enjoyable vacation. Thanks

This was a wonderful week! I could not have asked for a better way to kick off my 30's. The weather was beautiful. There was such a nice breeze and no humidity. Definitely different than what we have in MD. Everything here is laid back,peaceful,and simple. I hate to leave but am hoping to back this an annual trip. We had one negative response from a guest and the reason being that the TV had broken during their stay at our condo. This is a situation that is out of our control. Things happen. To rectify this problem, we ordered a new tv and had paid extra for faster delivery and to have it set up. Upon delivery no one was there to accept the tv so it was dropped off next door. Unfortunately the guest had to bring the tv in themselves. When you rent from private owners as opposed to corporate hotels, there is no immediate staff that can come in to fix a situation like what occurred. You are staying in ones personal home and situations may occur just like when you are in your own home. I feel they were angry with us that the tv had broken. It was obvious by the condtion that they left the condo. Mind you that there was another tv in the bedroom. So it wasn't like they went without a tv at all. Once we were able to get down to our unit to pick up the old tv, we found out that there was nothing wrong with the tv after all. It still worked.

We just got back last weekend from a week long stay at this condo.. It was wonderful, very nice decor. We saw dolphins from the balcony, enjoyed the pool and just relaxed. Perfect size for our family of 3.

Happy Thanksgiving! We actually did a traditional dinner! We love what you did to redecorate the condo. This is our second stay for Thanksgiving. Our son and nephew came down for dinner and a round of golf, can't beat that! The weather was great, raining today but we're leaving so we can take one bad day! Sit on the Porch with a nice breeze and watch the waves ,the dolphins, and the fishing boats. The condo is only steps to the beach. It is amazing. I took pictures on Sunday afternoon and had only 12 people on the beach.

We spent a lovely week in the condo. Cannot say enough about the wonderful location, just steps from the beach & pool, yet not close enough to the pool to be bothered with noise. So wonderful to wake up & have coffee on the deck with the ocean right outside. The beach & the entire Wild Dunes complex is very family-friendly. Beach was never crowded. Great pool too. This was a BEAUTIFUL place. The view was even better than the picture. We have a young child and the condo was SO close to the beach access that it made it easy to go back and forth.We are thinking of returning in Sept-Oct 06' and next summer also...this place has alot of extras to many to mention. What a truly terrific vacation. The only problem we had was the number of decisions that needed to be made - should I go for a walk along the beach? Sit out by the pool? Or how about the beach? Should I just relax and read my book and listen to the sound of the ocean? Each of these choices were very relaxing! While this was my third year of visting the area, it was my family's first. They loved it and can't wait to go back next year! Unforunately, if everyone decides they want to come (we left a couple people back home) we won't be able to use this wonderful condo again...it will be too small. If you are looking to stay away from the hussle and bussle of everyday life, Topsail Island is the place for you and this condo is a great find!

We had a wonderful time at Topsail Island. The condo is exactly as described on the web site. It's very well-equiped with everything you could need. The view from the porch is beautiful, and we spent a lot of time hanging out there in the evening. I would say that this condo would be great for 2 adults by themselves or with their children. It might be a little small for more than 2 adults. The condo's owners were very easy to work with, and we had a great experience with them and the condo. Thanks for letting us visit Topsail!

If solitude and ocean splendor are attractive to you, come to this condo in the winter. We did, and we enjoyed every moment of our stay. The place is well-equipped and in great shape; the view is superb; and the Fosters are attentive to their renters' needs and wants. NC Coastal weather can be iffy in December, but we had days in the 70s, nights in the 50s, and the whole beach to ourselves. Frugal people will like the price, too. Do yourself a favor: come on down. "Thanks again for the rental. We left you a beach umbrella. It's a very sturdy one with plastic-coated canvas and a thick wooden pole. We thought folks would get some use out of it. We went to the Camp Lejeune fireworks display and it was awesome! No one blows things up like the US Marines! The band uses real artillery for the 1812 Overture, too. It was a great week. I miss the ocean already."

May 25, 2003 -- Very nice, comfortable accommodations. Fully equipped and very quiet and relaxing. The beach is wonderfully wide and clean. The view from the balcony is just like the picture. The code lock is a very nice feature. Its was a real pleasure dealing with the Fosters - super nice people. Thank you!!
