As you step through the original double-glass etched doors in the spacious foyer of this recently remodeled & updated 1880's Victorian farmhouse on 7.5 acres with 400 ft. of beautiful Crystal River frontage, you immediately feel welcomed.
This is a unique countryside setting, (although only 5 minutes from the historic & quaint downtown & less than 10 minutes from the "action" of the Waupaca chain 'o lakes) where you can finally take a deep breath and find what you are looking for in your vacation ~ from relaxation to tons of fun. This authentic, unique and naturally beautiful homestead, provides all you need for a memorable vacation, retreat or getaway.
For your comfort & enjoyment, each of the 5 bedrooms have private attached bathrooms (one even has an original clawfoot soaking tub w/ shower and one features a 2-person whirlpool tub) so no more sharing bathrooms on your vacation! Each bedroom also includes many nice amentities such as cable TV w/DVD (& library of movies), CD alarm clocks (& selection of music CD's) , central air + individual room a/c, cozy gas or electric fireplaces, hair dryers, and all bedding and linens. Yes, and we even provide daily maid service and laundry services upon request. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs and 1 bedroom on the main level.
Enter the spacious & welcoming foyer with original wood flooring, 11+ ft. ceilings and an impressive walnut staircase winding to the restful and spacious bedrooms. The casually elegant living room, with sunny bay window, deep leather couch and oversize reading chair, sits off the foyer and has huge pocket doors that lead to the lively family room, with the cozy wood stove framed by an ornate mirrored antique mantle, inviting you to cozy up around her warmth to read, play a game, or catch a game on the big screen.
The large remodeled fully equipped kitchen features a stainless steel GE Profile gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, cookware, dishes, etc. A large center island with surrounding stools, is wonderfully convenient. The large window overlooks the barn and outbuildings. Want to leave the cooking worries to us--no problem--on-site managment, catering for single meals or for the entire duration of your stay, stocking of food and bar can be prearranged prior to your arrival, or daily maid & laundry service is available per your request and for an additional fee.
The large dining room adjacent to the kitchen, seats 10 and is a great place to gather for meals. There is also a picnic table on the lawn or several small tables and chairs on the covered porch, if that is your preference.
Step outside onto the large covered porch and enjoy the glider, swing, wicker chairs and tables too, while overlooking the white picketed fenced country garden and historic apple orchards beyond.
Stroll past the original coach house, chicken coop, and barn to your private stretch of the Crystal River, ponds, & trickling streams growing fresh watercress. Meander across a footbridge to a private island spot, where deer & wildlife abound and fish are ready to be caught. This is a class A trout stream and a hangout for large and small-mouthed bass! Lots of other lakes & rivers to explore when ready to venture out.
The Waupaca & the Chain 'o lakes area, is the perfect place to have fun, relax, or get away from it all. It is laid-back, uncrowded, unspoiled, and friendly. Waupaca is rich in specialty shopping/antiquing, comfortable restaurants, golf courses, biking, canoe/kayak, hiking, winter snowshoe and skiing, sightseeing, and every kind of outdoor activity for year around enjoyment.
Waupaca is conveniently located in the center of the state. It is far enough to have that "up north" feel, yet convenient and close enough to not have to drive forever to get here! We are only 30 minutes from Stevens Point and Appleton, 40 minutes from Oshkosh and the EAA, 2 hours from Madison and Milwaukee and less than 4 hours from Chicago and Minneapolis.
Finally, come home after your fun-filled day and enjoy a wonderful campfire at night to eat smores and enjoy each other's company as you discuss your incredible Waupaca day! We know you will have a memorable time here.
