The house, named "Dir Treu" (Faithful to You), is just across the road from the ocean shore.
The house views span Greenings Island, The Hinckley Company marina, Somes Sound, Bear Island lighthouse and the Western Way channel. A small beach for skipping stones or finding sea glass is located right at the waterfront.
The house has a large deck in addition to a lot of window views of the water. On 3/4 an acre of land, Dir Treu has a good sized backyard area for children to play (a tree swing), gets great sunlight, the ocean breeze and views of the sunrise and sunset. Just down the street there is free access to the Manset Town Dock and the Cranberry Island Ferry service or Manset Yacht Service for boat rentals. Furnishings have the Maine cottage look.
Southwest Harbor, Maine is on the coast of Maine approximately 5 hours north of Boston. Located across the island from the popular tourist location of Bar Harbor, Southwest is a small town with access to all of Acadia National Park and the surrounding islands. The closest airports are Bar Harbor (also called Trenton) and Bangor.
The rental season typically runs from Memorial Day (May 30th) to Columbus Day (Oct 15th or so). The warmest and most popular months are July and August. June, September and October are popular with bikers, hikers and others who enjoy the changing seasons or the turning fall leaves. |
