Many thanks to Philippe. Incredibly organized and commnicative with superiorly detailed instructions. He met us exactly at the time stated and left us to enjoy the flat without interruption. The flat was very quiet, clean and the beds & linens were extremely comfortable. My husband and I both enjoyed the endless supply of hot water for the bath tub. One street over from Champs-Elysees and literally a stone's through from the Metro. Was able to walk to the start and finish of the 2012 Paris Marathon. It was a dream vacation. Small note: Stairs to bedrooms could prove tricky for older travelers or families with small children. Otherwise ideal.

I just came back from Paris after one wonderful week of staying in Phillipe's beautiful apartment with my wife, 2 kids and my sister in-law. The location of the apartment was perfect and the motto location, location, location couldn't be more apt. It is just steps away from the Champs-Elysees and 1 minute walk from the Charles De Gaul - Etoile Metro/RER line which makes travelling so easy. We never had to take more than one change of Metro lines to CDG-Etoile and almost all of the places we wanted to go (Disneyland etc etc) was a direct line from CDG-Etoile. We came back from Disneyland Paris at Midnight and within 12:05 AM the kids were in bed sleeping. Phillipe is such a wonderful host. He was so helpful and his map of all the nice stores surrounding the apartment was a life saver. His "guide" on how to use all the utilities in the apartment was just brilliant. We had no problem using the dishwasher, the dryer and the washing machine. The apartment itself was so beautiful but just a note of caution, the top floor is a bit low so watch your head (we didn't have a problem because we are not tall). It does however add to the charm of the place as one of the guide mentioned in our Paris Walk tour, a lot of people converted the attic to be their bedroom and that's typical of the "Paris Pad" that everyone wants these days (and we get to stay in one ...) The elevator goes to the 3rd floor and you will have to go up 2 floors of stairs so be prepared for that. We only had difficulties when trying to bring down the luggage after one week of shopping but that is just 10 minutes of logistical planning that is no big deal. I have stayed in London and New York apartments and I have to say that bar none, this is the best apartment we have stayed. There is no doubt in my mind that if we were to come to Paris again, we will most definitely stay in Phillipe's apartment again. Maybe for 2 weeks this time :)

I just returned from my stay at Philippe's flat & wanted to post a review. I stayed there for a week with my sister & a friend (girls' trip!). The flat was perfect for us. Cozy. Lots of natural light. Felt right at home. We loved looking out the sky lights at night & watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle. And in the mornings when we'd step out the building's front door, it was just amazing to see the Arc de Triomphe right there! The metro stop (just steps from the building) made getting around Paris so simple & convenient. We were very glad to have found this flat!

We (3 Adults & 2 Teenage children) spent 5 nights in this charming loft apartment. It was very well equipped and maintained. Very close to transport and many Paris tourist attractions - you can walk to most! Paris is a beautiful city and this apartment just made us feel that we were living the Parisian life. Thank you. We would stay here again.

We have stayed in this apartment twice now and each time the experience has been memorable. The apartment is perfectly located a (very) short stroll from the Champs Elysee and the metro. Phillipe (the owner) goes to great lengths to ensure everything is perfect with the flat. He even supplies a map of the immediate area with restaurants, shops, etc listed. I would heartily recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a perfect location in Paris from which to base their stay. Do yourself a favour - stay here.

A superb temporary Paris residence. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and can highly recommend it. The location is unsurpassed. The apartment was comfortable, clean and well equipped, including a computer with internet access. The owner couldn't have been any nicer or more accommodating. He even provided maps and lots of useful information on the area. The only potential drawback is a rather narrow staircase to the upper level, which would make it difficult for elderly or handicapped individuals to negotiate.

+great location - you have views of the eiffel tower and the arc from the skylights; owner was very thoughtful and meticulous about the place - kept the place well stocked; the owner truly goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay (all you really need to take with you are your toiletries); laminated instructions on everything were very helpful; quiet and peaceful; spacious - even with 4 people, you don't feel like you are in each others' space. the bed space can accommodate 5 people comfortably; philippe provides a computer and printer. -the negatives here are things that the owner cannot really do anything about. this is the only reason i did not give this 5 stars. after riding the elevator for 3 floors, there there are quite a number of stairs to climb to get to the apt, the loft area is angled and is suited for people less than 5'7" tall; toilet needs a proper vent. i truly enjoyed staying at this apt but i would not recommend this place to people who are tall or senior citizens. the hike up the stairs maybe a problem. if you're young (or have young knees) and are either not too tall or are ok with crouching to get dressed or in and out of bed then this is a great place to rent. would recommend a pull-out couch for the living room for people who don't want to go up and down the stairs.

The de Friedland flat is a charming, modern, spacious and comfortable home away from home. It's location is superb! The owner was friendly. The flat is fully equipped with all necessary things you might need. Flat it self is very clean and noise free where you can get a good night sleep after a big day. Thank you Philppe

Philippe has thought of everything! Our foursome, Mom+Dad+Teen Daughter+Teen Son, spent 10 lovely days in the flat. It truly felt like home, and was wonderful to collapse in after long days touring about Paris. The Metro is seconds away, outdoor markets a few blocks away, and Philippe has created the most amazing map/cheat sheet for living in his neighborhood. Our son and daughter had a ball spotting us in the windows from the top of the Arc de Triomphe, and we could see the Eiffel Tower sparkle every night. We cooked, ate and washed dishes in the kitchen. We used the Internet. We washed our clothes. We watched a little TV and listened to Philippe's fun music collection. Philippe met and welcomed us, demonstrated his fine apartment to us, and left us. Everything is self-explanatory or is meticulously written in his apartment guide. Oh, and we found his collection of guide books (Rick Steves, Fodors, etc.) very helpful. In sum, we highly recommend this apartment, and would stay here again for certain. Merci beaucoup, Philippe!

This is a wonderful flat in a great, safe area. Everything was nearby, easy access to subway, restaurants, groceries. The children enjoyed the computer and movies. Apartment had everything we needed - and Phillipe the instructions were EXCELLENT. Made life really easy for us. Beds were comfortable and we really enjoyed the sky lights. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone going to Paris. We hope to go back again next year and plan to stay here!

We stayed here almost 3 weeks in October. The location is great. One block from the Champs. Very safe and walkable neighborhood. Very close to metro station which we used on a daily basis several times a day. The down side, not too authentic places to eat around. We had to get on the metro to go out and eat even. We did find a very friendly bakery about 3 blocks down on Friedland. Place was truly not what we expected. Owner is nice, but the place needs a lot of upgrades and plain and simple stuff that works. For example the microwave is from 1980 something, really does not even work. Toaster is the same issue. Kitchen is tiny and needs to be upgraded with a sense of urgency. THE TOILET IS A HUGE ISSUE! The toilet smelled of sewer gas day and night. The table to eat is right near the toilet area and it was gross. We ate in the living area when we did eat. Another issue was that my fiance and I could not use the WiFi at the same time because only one of the devices worked at a time. When we advised the owner he did not resolve the problem. DVD do not work, the player like everything else worked when it felt like it. The channels are all French except for CNN. We did want to watch TV at least once in English. Lastly, we then realize that there are nicer and much cheaper rentals in the area. Beware: floors will give you splinters in your feet!
Owner response:After 2 weeks of working in the flat I am happy to answer at your message with a lot of change, with first a new microwave. I refresh all the kitchen with specially a new floor to avoid splinter, and change the 2 wood worktop. I change the carpet in the living room, I change the Dvd player, I change the ventilation system of the toilet and at least I change the parameters of the wifi system to accept multiple connexions. For the Tv channel it’s in the flat a user manual with access to 7 English channel (spanish, Italian, arabs, and 200 French channels) and around 60 Dvd’s movies with 20 cartoons for children) About wifi it’s a speed wifi connexion and in the flat I put an iMac computer and a printer if you do not want to bring your laptop. Also around the flat it’s a lot of restaurants, forget those one on the Champs Elysée and discover in the street around authentic one. I build a special map for renters with most of the shops around the flat and may be I will build another one with a selection of good restaurants around.

My friends and I had the pleasure of staying at the loft the first week of December and we truly had a great time. The loft is clean, cozy, wonderful location and Phillipe was a great host and available to answer any questions we had before and during our stay. Having rented apartments and hotels in and around Paris, this was by far the best for us. Easy access to CDG with the Air France coach and very close to several metro locations. Of course being a block off of the Champs Elysees was great and the small vendors during Christmas time and the central location to sights was an much added plus. I would definitely stay here again and advise other travelers looking for places to rent.

We are a party of 4 (two couples) and we spent one week at this apartment in Paris. The location was absolutely fabulous! We felt safe at all times and it was so convenient to the metro and bus lines. We had no problem whatsoever finding it and getting settled in. Since there was access to a bathroom outside down the hall the one bathroom was not a problem. The Champs Elysses was just one street over, a grocery store very close, restaurants, everything virtually at our fingertips! Phillippe left us maps and brochures and was very helpful with any questions we had! We could look out our loft window and see the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe almost out our front entrance. The furniture and beds were super comfortable. We used the stove, microwave, small appliances and washer/dryer which made it feel like a home away from home. We would definitely recommend this apartment and hope to return again.

We recently spent 5 nights in this charming loft apartment in Paris. My husband and I have been travelling with my sister and her husband and we loved this apartment. It is located in a beautiful building just 100 metres from the metro Charles de Gaulle Etoile and 100 metres from the Champs Elysee - perfect location! The apartment has everything you need - washer/dryer, dish washer, beautiful linen and towels and fantastic instructions on how to use everything in a booklet from the owner. The bathroom even had mood lighting. The best thing for me about the apartment, are the large windows in the loft area, that you can open and look out at the roof tops of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. We highly recommend this apartment and the owner Philppe, is extremely helpful and easy to deal with.

We spent a fabulous week in Phillipe's apartment in July. It's central location and comfortable amenities make it perfect for a family. Everything is well organized from a map showing nearby shops to carefully prepared diagrams to help in the operation of all of the apartment's facilities. We had a wonderful stay.

We recommend this apartment highly. The owner was helpful before our trip even began. He sent us advice on transportation, and met us at the apartment. The apartment was stocked with a few basics (toilet paper, soap, flour, oil, etc.) which made our jet-lagged arrival so much easier. The apartment is clean and thoughtfully laid out. Every device has a laminated visual instruction sheet - genius!!!! The view of the Eiffel Tower at night will delight - and the bath will soothe tired legs. It was great having access to the internet, and we deeply appreciated the owner's kids sharing some of their toys and videos with our kids. The owner even provided a map that showed where all the important things (markets, pharmacies, metro stops, tourist points) were relative to the apartment. We have stayed at many VRBO apartments, but this one is our favorite of all time. It is in a great location, is carefully designed, and the owner is wonderful!
