WOW!

I hate to post a review because it means I might have to share this slice of heaven with others and don't want conflicts for our next preferred dates! Casa Harden was fantastic! The pictures do not do it justice - the house is spacious and comfortable. We spent a week there with our 11 and 13 year olds. They have already asked to go back next year! They loved the quiet beach, the very welcoming neighbors and the true beauty of Buena Vista. If you want busy beach with the typical tourist activities - this is not the place for you. If you want beauty and quiet you cannot go wrong. Casa Harden was lovely - the owners and property manager were attentive and helpful. We can't wait to go back!

home away from home

Our family has stayed at Casa Harden twice...6 weeks in 2011 and 4 weeks in 2012. It is truly a home away from home for us and our 6-year old son. We like having 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms so that we can have friends and family come stay with us. Casa Harden is clean and well-kept and provides many of the amenities of home...dish washer, washer and dryer, etc. The huge beach-side patio and the outdoor shower are two of our favorite features of the house. The property managers, Josephina and Giovanny, have become special friends of ours. The area is very safe. My husband travels for work, and I feel completely safe with my son when he's gone on trips. The "neighborhood" is also full of very good folks. The neighbors and other "snow birds" who come down regularly in the winter have also become very good friends of ours. Almost nightly "Baja Blackout" card games and get togethers provide a wonderful sense of community. On Friday mornings, an organic farmer comes to the neighborhood to sell fruits, vegetables, eggs, chicken, homemade tamales, etc. The owners have also been wonderful accommodating our requests. Spa Buena Vista is not touristy. We love that the beaches are quiet and relaxing during the winter months. We are a very active family. While in Baja, we run/hike and mountain bike on the miles and miles of nearby single track, kite board in Los Barriles, sea kayak, deep sea fish, explore arroyos and the beaches that are full of sea life. A short drive away is Aquas Calliente...providing hot springs and great hiking. Food in the small taquerias is amazing...we live off of $1 shrimp tacos while we're there. In summary, we love Casa Harden and all that Baja has to offer. We would definitely recommend it!

Home Away From Home

Guest: Sly (Alameda, CA)
Date of Stay: 12/14/11 Review Submitted: 02/16/12

Spent two weeks at Chrismas time. Very relaxing, private and we felt very safe. Some days we would sightsee at Cabo, La Paz (go to Pichilingue and Tecolote), Todos Santos and other days just relax. One night we would dine out at a number of good informal restaurants in Los Barriles (5 minutes away) or at the hotel a couple hundred feet away. Other nights we would cook at "home". We felt like we were in our own house and the kitchen was well equiped. The owners were very involved in making sure our stay was was enjoyable. The manger Josefina and her husband were very helpful and they speak good English. We definitely will consider a return stay.

Second trip as good as the first!

Date of Stay: 11/12/11 Review Submitted: 12/08/11

Just returned from our second trip staying in Casa Harden. We traveled with our two kids, ages 5 and 8, and a revolving array of relatives and friends who came in and out over our 3 week stay. It was absolutely wonderful! The house truly has everything that you will need, right down to the beach towels! The membership at the Spa Buena Vista Hotel is priceless and allows you to walk next door to a wonderful pool/hot tub, etc. set in beautiful "old-Mexico" style grounds. This is also a great place to eat if you don't feel like cooking or driving. On that note, you will likely want to rent a car if staying in Spa Buena Vista so that you can get back and forth to the grocery stores, restaraunts, etc. in Los Barriles. During our stay we fished out of the Hotel Palmas De Cortez as well as from numerous spots along the beach, did day trips to some nearby towns, tried stand-up-paddleboarding (the shop in Los Barriles will deliver right to the house!), took the kayaks out on the ocean several times, participated in a sea turtle release, and so much more. We have been coming to this area for years and, in Casa Harden, have finally found our "home away from home"! Barb is wonderful and so easy to work with. Again, the house is very well equipped - two refrigerators, wireless internet, satellite tv, huge movie stash and (best of all!) a washer/dryer easily sealed the deal for us! We would recommend this home to anyone!

Christmas 2010

Guest: Brian (Southern California)
Date of Stay: 12/23/10 Review Submitted: 12/31/10

My family (7 adults) spent Christmas at Casa Harden. We had a great week! Only one day of wind otherwise the weather was perfect. We were in the water every day right in front of the house. Fishing was good. Hotel (Spa) Buena Vista is right next door. We spent a couple "happy hours" there and also used the pool and spa. Los Barriles is 5 minutes away by car and it has just enough of everything you might need but is not a crowded resort like Cabo. The owners (Charlie and Barb) and manager are friendly and helpful. Make sure to have Norma come and cook a couple meals for you, she is great fun and a good cook. She does not speak much English but Josefina (manager) can set everything up for you. The house is perfect for 6 adults (3 bedrooms). We did not use the loft. We had the one extra person sleep on a very nice in-flate-a-bed. Everyone enjoyed the whole week and would love to go back.

Rent this house!

We stayed in this home for almost two weeks in Nov/Dec 2010. We traveled with our two children and an extended relative. The photos are a really great indication of what you'll find. The house was clean, well-maintained and very well stocked. The amenities (washer/dryer, dishwasher, internet access, hotel (w/pool and restaurant) next door, local caretaker, etc.) made the stay over the top easy and enjoyable. Barb was so responsive and eay to work with, as was Ricardo, who chauffeured us on a great trip to La Paz. I would recommend this home to anyone, we were so comfortable and happy here as I think almost anyone would be. The only thing that I would note is that the loft is reached via a pull down ladder in the ceiling of the bedroom with two twin beds. This wasn't a factor for us as our kids had the run of both the bedroom and loft, but it is something to think about if you would be counting on using that space. Again, it was the perfect place for us, we will be back!

Great Location, exactly as advertised

Guest: Steve (Seattle, WA, USA)
Date of Stay: 04/03/10 Review Submitted: 12/27/10

My wife and I rented this house with our 3yo and my folks. The location is great, right on the beach and as stated in the description, just a stroll down the beach to lounge by the pool if you like. The set up worked well for 2 couples and kids. We each had our own room and we were able to lounge on the front patio while our daughter napped. We arrived the day before easter and the beach was a bit busy, but the weekend folks left promptly and the location was quite peaceful for the rest of the stay. We have already recommened this house to other friends and hope to visit again some time in the future.

Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home here in Buena Vista. Everything was comfortable and inviting. We felt like we were visiting family. I especially appreciated your fully stocked kitchen. It was fun to cook here - looking out @ the Sea of Cortez!! Thanks for the added refrigerator in the garage. We were here for 6 weeks, so we really needed it! We hate to leave on the 15th, but we must. We hope to return next year. Our best to you both!

We finally made it here with winter weather back home. The house had everything we needed for a splendid vacation. You couldn't ask for anything better than the beach, the nachos (next door), and the relaxation time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We will definitely be back for another visit. Ricardo was very helpful for anything we needed. Thank you for all of your kindness and information.

This was just what we were looking for - a comfortable house in a quiet place, nothing to do but build sand castles with the kids; eat good food and Relax! A highlight was definitely having Ricardo cook us a delicious meal while our kids slept and we drank margaritas on the patio; doesn't get much better than that. Thank you for welcoming us into your house!

What a wonderful vacation! This house was perfect for all of our needs. Loved being on the beach. Only two windy days, but they cooled us off! Couldn't ask for better neighbors. Snorkeled (a must!!) ATV's & jet ski's. We will definitely be back! If you eat at the hotel next door, tell Luis & Manuel (bartender) hola! Manuel can sing. Thank you!!

What a wonderful week and a great way to celebrate our 30th anniversary! A very relaxing home that was quite comfortable to stay in. We rented quads (4x4's) from Quad Man in town and got a good deal on weekly rate. We never cooked (hey - I'm on vacation!) and ate in town everyday. Caleb's serves a great breakfast! The bank in town came in handy - not here last time we were here. Thanks Barb and Charlie for a great week in your casa!

Barb, Charlie, Ricardo. Thanks for all your help during our initial adjustment! We're definitely not in Kansas anymore! Definitely a Disneyland "E" Ticket Ride!! The lightening storm; the donkeys on the beach, the freshly caught dorado - we loved it all! Thanks so much for sharing "Su Casa"
