Dennis has long enjoyed the Trinity Alps area for it's solitude, quiet, great hiking spots, gold-panning, lack of traffic, and weather. Lorrie enjoys it for the river and lake swimming, kayaking, and bird-watching. We have a house outside of Weaverville where we vacation when we're not working 4 1/2 hours away in San Francisco.

Thank you for creating such an ideal vacation spot. We spent 3 wonderful days enjoying all that Arttus Ranch is about: river, trees, fish, goats, dogs, and peace. Oh – geese, eagles, and mergansers, too! Everything was convenient and comfortable. You’ve thought of all types of creature comforts. After days exploring the Trinity River and goat meadow, we enjoyed watching the 2010 Olympics while a nice heart fire crackled. Pretty perfect! Our dog Olive loved wading into the Trinity every day. So – she thanks you, too. Cheers!

Thank you for offering up your lovely country home to our families. It was a pleasure meeting you and having the opportunity to converse. We arrived a little early and met Toni, she was very nice and left the house so clean for our use. She was also very helpful when I phoned her a few times. The guys went fishing but had no luck. They lamost caught a few, but the fish outsmarted them. The shop that you recommended for fishng supplies (Dragonfly Outfitters, next to Long’s) was great. The La Grange Café was good, but definitely not home cooking! We will probably stick to smaller places next time. The view here is very peaceful. We took a photo of a bald eagle which watched us for quite awhile. We met the goat farmer and had a great conversation. We also met Rich Lorenz on his way into town and learned a bit of history. I truly enjoyed the walks, the river, the cozy clean home, etc. We will likely come back but may ask if the master bed has been changed out.(editor’s note – replacing the master bed is on our list!)

What a wonderful, beautiful, special place. Nature is at my fingertips - the sound of the Trinity tumbling by, punctuated by the bleats of resident goats, and the many various birdcalls. Some rain, some sunshine, puffy white clouds and blue skies. The purple redbud in full springtime bloom. I leave here rested, recuperated, and renewed.

Coming from far way (Germany), we looked forward to spending 2 weeks in the middle of nature. Our expectations have been more than fulfilled. We really fell in love with the place, the house (carefully kept, very good equipment, in particular for cooking, the river, the sun and the stars. We were overwhelmed by Rob’s helpful friendliness, telling us stories about the region and letting our bias roll down the river. We learned a lot about the inhabitants reason to live here and how they led their lives with a relaxed mood. We will recommend this location to all of our friends (unfortunately, however, few will make the long trip, but we know what they will miss!) So, we had a wonderful time & we’re leaving the place with a full bowl of costly and happy rememberings.

It was a relaxing and wonderful time for the six of us. We learned a lot about the Boer goats – what cute little guys! The fellows enjoyed their fishing even though they didn’t catch any. The gals enjoyed reading & I was able to paint (watercolors) a couple of pastoral paintings.

Christmas in September was totally fun. Nice time was had by all of us, seven fantastic beautiful women on our annual get-away! The home was very comfortable and well-equipped, the house was filled with laughter and pure good spirit. Thanks for teaching us about the South African goats. Sitting on the front patio area, enjoying wine, watching the goats frolic was so peaceful – thanks!

We had a great stay here at the cabin. We went rafting and fishing and were visited by the big white dog from across the way. The kitchen was very well stocked with pots nad pans & everything we needed.
