Almost Happy New Year! We've missed coming up to the Trinity River for the past few years and are glad to be back! Arttus Ranch and goats - hello! The place was perfect for our holiday break. Relaxing space without internet connection to pester us with the outside world. The weather was beautiful - a little foggy, a little rainy & sunshine and rainbows. - Took lots of walks with our dog Otis. - Fished for steelhead (no luck) - Hunted for gold with our daughter (7 year old) - Ate yummy sandwhiches at Trinidelli in Weaverville - took a drive to Hayfork, but nothing worth getting out of the car for once there - Played lots of games

What an amazing place! The kids had a blast. The house was so comfortable and clean. I wish we didn't have to leave so soon. We are all looking forward to making The Arttus Ranch our new Trinity vacation home!

We had a great trip. Raced in the Lagrange Fall classic. What great mountain biking! The dog loved the river path. What a beautiful place with great views!

We had a great time here. Joanna knew that she would love it. I had no idea how much I would enjoy it. In fact, I hate to go. Thank you so much for having this place to enjoy. We will both be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquility here. Enjoyed watching the goats, picking blackberries, taking leisurely walks, but mostly just not doing all the hectic things we have to do at home. I would have loved to stay here longer.

The Arttus Ranch was truly a natural delight. We enjoyed swimming in the river, sunning & reading along the banks. Skipping stones and competing for "skip of the day". Our son caught a king salmon with the Quickline (?) from the Douglas City General Store. I didn't hook a fish, but the experience of cruising down the river at 5:30 in the am was worth everything. We also enjoyed the chicken fried steak at the Nugget Restaurant. Enjoyed the goats - one day they ventured all the way out to the river! We'll be back.

Essentially all our expectations were met, & sometimes exceeded, during our stay at the Arttus Ranch. We were very comfortable in the house and enjoyed waking up to the bleating, mooing, and whinnying of the farm animals. Our excursions to the Trinity river were highlights of the days here. It was a privilege to explore and swim in such a clear and bracingly cold and beautiful river. Our dog loved diving into it and retrieving sticks tossed into the current. We literally had to drag her away. We took a fishing trip, guided by Art Stratton. In the end, the score was salmon 2, us 1, but floating down the beautiful Trinity and looking at the wildlife was quite a treat. The 8 lb salmon we did catch made for a wonderful meal (grilled on the handy charcoal grill) on our last night here. The Trinity countryside is beautiful & we enjoyed doing a few of the day hikes in the area. Weaverville was a treat as wel and gave us some interesting things to look at - especially the Art Cruise, and places to eat. All in all, a successful and fun vacation had by all. Thank you.

The place was perfect for us. The setting is absolutely beautiful. We were here for my son's wedding which was at his bride's childhood home - also on Steiner Flat Road. It was about a mile up the road, and made it so easy for the family. Love the river! Wow! Thanks!

We did absolutely nothing here for 4 days and are now completely refreshed. Our dog played with Chico (one of the goat dogs) and walked with us off-leash! We read books, watched movies, put together a puzzle, and fixed delicious meals all in this beautiful place. Thanks for making it such a beautiful refuge into the country for us city-types.

Can't think of a better place to cook fresh pasta, sing by the fireplace, walk through the fields, and completely lose track of time. We've had a restorative weekend, and hope we've left some giggles and goodwill for future visitors.

Lovely, lovely, cozy & homey. Two moms, friends for 48 years, two daughters apiece, six very happy ladies. Memories stirred, laughter and tears, walks on the old country road, felt so like home. Thank you for a very special place and a wonderful setting.

We had a great time at the Ranch as always. Got skunked on Saturday but possibly more an issue of skill than anything else. It's always peaceful to come up here and get away from the city & really see the stars! See you again in May

Thanks for letting us stay at your home. We didn't catch any keepers, but Samantha (8) caught her first fish ever! It was a momentous day! It rained and rained, and rained some more, but we had a quaint place. Great friends and an awesome fire to keep warm.

What a beautiful setting for a family vacation! Few such places could accomodate our family of seven, but there was more than enough room. We used Arttus Ranch as a launching pad for whitewater rafting, fishing, swimming, and exploring the region. Didn't do too well with the fishing, unfortunately! We also enjoyed the salmon and buffalo meatloaf at LaGrange for our 19th anniversary. God's blessings and peach upon this house!

Thank you for sharing your home! We enjoyed ourselves very much. Did some fishing, actually caught a few. River was way too cold to swim, but still enjoyed being close to the river. Loved the animals, especially the mini-horse. Neighbors were very nice. Arttus Ranch was very peaceful and relaxing. Did lots of cooking. We really felt at home here! Thanks again, and hope to return in the future.

Our first fishing trip in California! Arttus Ranch is a lovely, comfy home. We enjoyed the history and also the beautiful vegetation, though the 3 digit heat was too much for outdoor activity. Thanks for the visit in the 68th year of our marriage.

We brought with us a bit of history in the person of Harold Cleaves - our 98 year old father who was born and raised in this area. Wonderful stories, wonderful memories. This was the perfect place to do it only a few hundred yards from where we used to river raft. The house was great, the weather wonderful, and the goats cute. Thank you for maintainnig this wonderful place for us. We'd like to come back!

We loved staying here. The house was very clean and comfy. We recommend going down to Weaverville to visit some antique stores. There is much to see here, and hiking here is very nice. Our best moment was going rafting on the Trinity River. We actually recommend the Trinity Rafting Company. It is locally owned, the people there are extremely nice and friendly. It's very good bike country with many hills (biker).

Thank you for creating such an ideal vacation spot. We spent 3 wonderful days enjoying all that Arttus Ranch is about: river, trees, fish, goats, dogs, and peace. Oh – geese, eagles, and mergansers, too! Everything was convenient and comfortable. You’ve thought of all types of creature comforts. After days exploring the Trinity River and goat meadow, we enjoyed watching the 2010 Olympics while a nice heart fire crackled. Pretty perfect! Our dog Olive loved wading into the Trinity every day. So – she thanks you, too. Cheers!

Thank you for offering up your lovely country home to our families. It was a pleasure meeting you and having the opportunity to converse. We arrived a little early and met Toni, she was very nice and left the house so clean for our use. She was also very helpful when I phoned her a few times. The guys went fishing but had no luck. They lamost caught a few, but the fish outsmarted them. The shop that you recommended for fishng supplies (Dragonfly Outfitters, next to Long’s) was great. The La Grange Café was good, but definitely not home cooking! We will probably stick to smaller places next time. The view here is very peaceful. We took a photo of a bald eagle which watched us for quite awhile. We met the goat farmer and had a great conversation. We also met Rich Lorenz on his way into town and learned a bit of history. I truly enjoyed the walks, the river, the cozy clean home, etc. We will likely come back but may ask if the master bed has been changed out.(editor’s note – replacing the master bed is on our list!)

What a wonderful, beautiful, special place. Nature is at my fingertips - the sound of the Trinity tumbling by, punctuated by the bleats of resident goats, and the many various birdcalls. Some rain, some sunshine, puffy white clouds and blue skies. The purple redbud in full springtime bloom. I leave here rested, recuperated, and renewed.

Coming from far way (Germany), we looked forward to spending 2 weeks in the middle of nature. Our expectations have been more than fulfilled. We really fell in love with the place, the house (carefully kept, very good equipment, in particular for cooking, the river, the sun and the stars. We were overwhelmed by Rob’s helpful friendliness, telling us stories about the region and letting our bias roll down the river. We learned a lot about the inhabitants reason to live here and how they led their lives with a relaxed mood. We will recommend this location to all of our friends (unfortunately, however, few will make the long trip, but we know what they will miss!) So, we had a wonderful time & we’re leaving the place with a full bowl of costly and happy rememberings.

It was a relaxing and wonderful time for the six of us. We learned a lot about the Boer goats – what cute little guys! The fellows enjoyed their fishing even though they didn’t catch any. The gals enjoyed reading & I was able to paint (watercolors) a couple of pastoral paintings.

Christmas in September was totally fun. Nice time was had by all of us, seven fantastic beautiful women on our annual get-away! The home was very comfortable and well-equipped, the house was filled with laughter and pure good spirit. Thanks for teaching us about the South African goats. Sitting on the front patio area, enjoying wine, watching the goats frolic was so peaceful – thanks!

Nine days is not enough! We met Toni upon arrival – the house was spotless and Toni was great! Next we met Rob and the goats. Rob was so helful and informative, we enjoyed his company very much. We fished and swam at the locals secret swimming hole, ate out, ate in, and generally had a great time! Thank you so much for making your home available to us and our dogs. We fished in the Lewiston Lake Annual Fish Derby and won several gift certificates for local restaurants, boat rentals, etc., which, of course, we must use next year! Thank you again for such great accommodations and a wonderful time.

No steelhead! We enjoyed the stay here. So much more comfortable than camping or a motel. The house was perfect and very warm – sure it was a balmy 19 degrees outside. Too cold for the fish, though. We tried 3 days on the river and just got a 17” brown trout. Water was 50 degrees, so a bit of sun would of helped. This house if perfect for fshing and hanging out. We’ll be back in the summer sometime for the salmon. Thanks for letting us stay!

Nice digs at a reasonable rate. Everything works, and so accessible. Thanks for the “private” water to wade fish. The Trinity is gaining in popularity every year but still manages to dole out a fish or two per person. Let the beat go on.
