- The California Central Coast wine country of Paso Robles is a short 20 miles from Cayucos. Paso Robles is home to over 50 wineries that offer wine tasting, dining, concerts, and other events. Also, Hearst Castle is 20 miles north in San Simeon. San Simeon also has a rookery of elephant seals that arrive in December to start the birthing season and leave in late spring. Morro Bay is 5 miles to the south, Cambria is 13 miles north, and San Luis Obispo is 15 miles south.

We bought our house in 2004 after renting there for several years. Cayucos is one of the few remaining small, slow-paced beach towns in California. A special place plus everyone is so nice!

The photos and description of this beautiful beach house do not do it justice! We were thrilled stepping inside to find a colorful beach inspired decor that both excites you and has a calming feeling as well. The furnishings are new and comfortable, and the kitchen well stocked. The fireplace was a big plus. But the wow of this property was the downstairs, with it's entertainment area and multiple colorful beds ! We spent most of our time on the awesome deck. The neighbors are very friendly and helpful.Just a short downhill walk to a beach access puts you right on the huge lengthy beach. And you can always tell what your days weather will be by the ocean view in the living room. Just Perfect.

this is a delightful place. about 3 blocks from the beach, and slightly uphill, and that means you save a bundle. (in case you don't know, cayucos is an unreconstructed beach town, and close to paso robles for wine tasting and san luis obispo for trader joe's and shopping.) from the living room, you can see the ocean color, panoramically, over the houses. the kitchen is well equipped. everything important works. the master bedroom is really a 3 room suite. the downstairs quarters is dorm style with multiple beds, a slightly unusual configuration, and has its own hangout area. there are actual books, which is refreshing. the only thing i really missed was an internet connection, particularly for netflix on demand and stay in touch with email and to use for a work retreat. (it was not easy to find a nearby open access point though i was told the library has open wifi. the owners are nice people and i found them both attentive and very easy to deal with. i've already scheduled a return visit.

Our stay at St. Mary's was a great escape from the cold long winter in Minnesota. We were very comfortable having our California relatives there for dinner. The sunsets are fantastic, walk to beach is short, close to town, State Parks, wineries. Morro Bay is great for kayaking and watching otters. Our favorite restaurant is "Sea Shanty". Many Parks and hiking tails in the area. Visiting the elephant seals with the babies! Much to do. Our only discomfort was the bed - we put an extra mattress cover on it for our own comfort. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
