The Cedars Cabin on Mt. Hood: A Quiet Mountain Getaway

The Cedars is a historic 1927 cabin located on one-third of an acre in the towering cedars and firs of Mt. Hood; perfect for a weekend family outing, romantic getaway, or a week long working vacation. Located just past the Resort at the Mountain golf course, The Cedars is far enough from the highway to hear only the sounds of the Salmon River and the wood-stove.

YOUR HOMEBASE FOR SKIING ON MT. HOOD
With the most ski areas of any peak in the U.S., and plenty of cross country and snowshoe trails, Mt. Hood is the perfect place to be in the winter. The Cedars is only a 15 minute drive from Government Camp, perfect for getting in a good day of winter fun.

GATEWAY TO THE WILDERNESS
The Cedars lies near the Salmon River where it emerges from the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness (a channel of the river runs through the property seasonally). A 5 minute drive from the cabin will lead you to the Salmon River Trail, renowned for its old growth forest and river views.

WORKING VACATION
Feeling stressed at work? Losing focus and distracted by the office? Free wireless Internet (Verizon) at the cabin allows you to sit on the back porch and listen to the river or kick back on the couch in front of the wood stove and work in peace and quiet.

ROMANTIC GETAWAY
The Cedars features two queen beds, two wood stoves (including one on the back porch), and is the perfect setting for any romantic weekend. Make dinner in the newly remodeled kitchen, or visit one of the restaurants in Welches (4 minutes drive) or Government Camp (15 minutes drive).

    • My husband, two teenagers, and I stayed here for 2 nights on the last leg of a 9 day summer trek across Oregon. When we first drove up we were a bit concerned about the close proximity to other cabins, but in the end that didn't affect our stay at all. This cabin is well kept, well stocked, and close to the things we wanted to do (enjoy nature). We all agreed it turned out to be one of the favorite places we stayed.

    • Our family of four loved the Cedars Cabin and the big trees and small Coho in the yard. Wildwood was a great place to take the kids to explore and learn, and it's so close by. The wild and scenic Salmon River was beautiful.

    • My husband and I honeymooned at the Cedar's Cabin. It was our first trip to Oregon. We loved every minute of our 9 day stay. The cabin was cozy and so clean...we loved the updated kitchen, the directions throughout the cabin and the proximity to so many places. We hiked, did a few day trips, went to the Columbia Gorge and Willamette Valley wineries. I would highly recommend the Cedars Cabin to anyone wanting a relaxing get away!

    • A beautiful little cabin for a family get-away. Very cute. Love the two fire options. If you have preschool age kids, make sure to check out the little trellis bridge to play Pooh sticks. Taking a drive up the salmon is perfect in rainy weather too.

    • What a wonderful little cabin. It was a prefect retreat for our family. Close to the mountain so after a long day of skiing it was just a quick trip to the cabin and more importantly the cosy warm fire. Looks like a wonderful place to spend during the summer too. We will definately be back up. The kitchen, bath and beds were all great. So nice to wake up surounded by the trees.

    • We had a great time at the cabin! It was so nice and quiet, but close to grocery & supplies if you forgot something. Also, it's right on the edge of Mt Hood National Forest where we did a lot of hiking. It's great, we'll be back for sure!
