I would like to just say... "I HAD THE TIME OF OUR MY LIFE !" This was one of the many sentences my 4year old Grandson said. This was the same sentiment by all of the 6kids (ranging from 2yrs to 17yrs) we had with us. The house is Phenomenal ! You are definitely HOME here. They have thought of everything. From towels for everyone, to condiments in the cupboards, to a BBQ on the AMAZING DECK that wraps the whole back of the house, to having the Maintenance people sweep the driveway from the Snowstorm we had our first night. House was clean and also has a garage. Great if it rains or Snows (it did our first day) and you have groceries to unload. We were close to shops, Grandfather Mountain and of course Sugar Mountain Ski Resort. The house was equipped with everything to keep the whole family entertained. From DVD players, to Stereo System, to ALL KINDS of Books to read and all TYPES of Board Games. The 17yrd old actually read 2 books ! WOW ! The kids were excited with the house. They had all kinds of room to roam and hide as they played Hide n Go Seek. House is HUGE. Enough room for our group of 14 and still had room for about 6 more. Rooms were very spacious and the Bunk Beds.... GREAT IDEA ! Older Kids loved the fact they were able to sleep together in their own room. We will recommend this to everyone we know is planning a trip to NC. If you have not booked yet and are still looking... THIS IS IT ! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED ! AND THE OWNERS ? ALWAYS AVAILABLE AND VERY PERSONABLE ! WE ALL HAD THE BEST TIME !Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: We are very glad that we could share our home with you and your family. We strive to keep our home so that others can enjoy it time and again.

We had 5 families meet at the house (12 total). The house was perfect for all of us. We had a great time and the ski slopes were close by. The owners were very helpful to us in planning our trip. My parents loved that there were no steps leading into the main level. The boys were exctied about sleeping in the loft. The house was very spacious and clean. The kitchen is well stocked with lots of extra thoughtful items available. The furniture was very comfortable and there was enough room for all of us to be together. The downstairs was also very nice. There was also plenty of parking space for all of our vehicles. We are all looking forward to making this an annual trip.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

Our familes came from SC, Tn, Pa, and Ohio. The house was exactly what we needed, large enough for kids to remain in the lower level most of the time while the adults enjoyed the main level. We had 8 inches of new snow while we were there and the skiing and tubing were wonderful, so I was told. The house is well equipped as described which made our cooking much easier. We plan to return!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Bob, We're so glad your family enjoyed their visit. It IS a great place to be together but yet have plenty of room to spread out. So glad that nature cooperated and that you had SNOW!! Nancy

This was a great home for our Christmas family vacation with lots of room for kids and adults. Wonderful view and perfect location especially for skiing, ice skating and tubing. Kitchen was well equipted and dinning room table was large enough for all 9 adults. Will definitely rent this house again for our next trip to Sugar Mountain.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much Mary. We were glad to share our home with your family and we're so glad that everyone enjoyed it! Nancy Pippin

We really enjoyed our stay in this warm, inviting, well-equipped home. It is extremely clean and extremely spacious. We were two families with a granddad and an extra friend along, and we all had plenty of space. The kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of mugs for coffee and cocoa! We enjoyed the large dining table for eating and for playing games. The location is extremely convenient to skiing and not far from the main entrance to Grandfather Mountain. Everything is in excellent condition, and it felt like home. We would love to return!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We were at the cabin for the New Year and it was great. The cabin was really warm and cozy, with very spacious rooms and great beds. We were 5 couples and this cabin was exactly what we've been looking for. The three sofas in the living room, in front of the fireplace, were exactly what every one needed after a day of skiing. Thanks Nancy and we promise we'll be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Nancy "Our family stayed at your fabulous home for 4 nights right after Christmas. The house was awesome and fun was had by all. The location was great. Since we are from South Mississippi, we were hoping for snow. Boy were we surprised at how much snow and ice there was!!! But it was awesome. We hope to come back to that area again, and we will certainly check to see if your house is available." L McKayDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We had a wonderful stay in this home. It was great for 2 families and was well furnished. The downstairs room allowed the kids to have their space and the upstairs was great for the adults. The views were beautiful and the home is close to the ski slopes. We will try to book again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

About the owner: Hi there! We're the Pippin family-Calvin,Nancy, Jason and Adam. We've always loved the mountains since attending Appalachian many years ago. We just couldn't stay away! So as they say the rest is history! We've enjoyed our mountain home for a little over a decade and know you will love it too. So send us an email or give us a phone call. We'll be glad to share our home with you.
Why the Owner Chose Banner Elk:
We just loved the spaciousness of this home. It will house a crowd without getting in each other's way. It also feels like it's all by itself when really it's very close to everything. You can be at the ski slopes in 5 minutes or less. It just feels like home!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We enjoy the peacefulness, like watching the hummingbirds fly back and forth to the feeder all day. Curl up in front of one of the fires and read a good book. Who cares if you fall asleep! Cook to your hearts content in our spacious kitchen or (my favorite) go out to dinner at one of the many restaurants close by. Ski or snowboard until you're worn out! Go on a picnic or hike or try fishing. (Check out the picture of Calvin and his big fish!)Scoot around to the local stores-- craft, antique, clothing, the great Mast General Store etc. Ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway and be sure to visit the Moses Cone house and their wonderful craft shop. Visit Grandfather Mountain or Tweetsie. Book a horseback ride or drive down the road to Crossnore and visit the school and weaving room. Attend one of the quaint churches. Drive to Boone and discover its great downtown or go to downtown Blowing Rock and to the outlets. Play golf at the course right on Sugar Mountain! Go to the nearby Bristol race or take a day trip to the Biltmore House in Asheville. There are many, many things to enjoy but don't forget to sit in the swing or glider in the morning and/or at the end of the day and just enjoy creation! What more could anyone want?
