Head south five minutes instead of north and you are at the newly re-constructed "Duke Kahanamoku" public Lagoon on Waikiki beach (re-opening in October of 2007). Just in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Lagoon tower, it has a comfortable depth of five feet, and has totally lined sandy bottom. The lagoon salt water in the Lagoon is replenished five-times per day from the ocean using an elaborate pumping system. And, it is totally stocked with local tropical fish for your snorkeling pleasure (no sharks here!). Enjoy sunbathing on the sandy beach that totally surrounds the lagoon. Watch your favorite TV shows or a rent your favorite DVD to watch on the big screen plasma HDTV in the living area (the TV retracts into the cabinet below and out of sight when you are done), or retire to the bedroom where there is another HDTV (LCD) you can watch while in bed.
