Welcome to 'Listen to the Surf' in Grayton Beach, consistently ranked among the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the U.S.!
The beach is sugar white and the water is emerald green. Looking for a small, cozy beach cottage where the old easy beach life still abounds? 'Listen to the Surf' is the perfect choice! The house features a large screened porch with an old fashion swing...spend a lazy morning reading or just watching the Gulf with your cup of coffee. In the evening the sunsets are spectacular and later at night, the galaxy puts on quite a show.
The cottage is casualy decorated...the 3 bedrooms feature freshly ironed linens and white quilts over pretty dust ruffles..with lace curtains and slow turning ceiling fans. The master has a private bath, queen bed and flat screen TV. The other two bedrooms share a bath between. The cottage sleeps a maximum of six and is perfect for small families. The lush green landscape gives you the feel of old Key West..a shady retreat in the heat of the summer. An outside shower will be waiting when you return from the beach.
We take pride in providing many little extras of home..not usually found in rentals as books, puzzles, games, hair dryers, live plants, first aid kit, to name a few.
South Walton has beautiful beaches on the the Gulf, as well as many small lakes along 30-A (the beach road) that provide bank fishing & nature watching.The state parks provide hiking trails & there is a paved bike/jogging path for 20 miles along 30-A. Bike rentals are readily available with delivery & pick-up. The old beach life meets the modern world with Starbucks within walking distance as are many great shops and spas. Fabulous restaurants are also within walking distance...the famous 'Red Bar' and Shorty's in downtown Grayton...Pandoras, Criollas, & Another Broken Egg are all in Grayton, as well. Shopping is a dream with Silver Sands Oulet Mall just a short drive away. So we have whatever you desire...a quiet beach trip with days in the sun..or an action packed get away.
Grayton is located between two airports..The new Panama City Airport to the east, [relocated west of the bridge] is a very easy, quick drive. It is serviced by Southwest and Delta. The Ft. Walton airport is to the west and is serviced by Delta ,American Eagle and U.S. Airways.

After many years of staying at Seaside, we decided to try something different this year, choosing Grayton beach. "Listen to the Surf" was a very clean and comfortable location for our family that was considerably less expensive than comparable rentals in Seaside. We had a quick walk to the beach via a sand pathway through the dunes. Once there, the beach was not crowded at all. Each day, the next closest person was probably 30 yards or more away from our chairs. The family loved the house, especially our nights on the screened-porch. It was a great, economical alternative to Seaside, without the ever-increasing crowds! Highly recommended.
Recommended for:Families with young children, families with teenagers.

I highly recommend staying at Listen to the Surf. It fit our family of five amply and had games, books, and beach toys for our three young children to play with. The cottage is fresh, comfortable, clean, and homey. Our walk to the beach was indeed a short one, and Grayton is the perfect casual beach town. The cottage seemed private and shady in spite of having close neighbors because of mature trees, a rarity at the beach. The Deans were lovely to deal with. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

This will be our 8th year renting "Listen to the Surf" it's a Grayt place to stay with ALL the comforts & conveniences of home. Pat and Bob always have the cottage in A++ shape. It is impeccably clean and comfortable. The huge screened in porch is my favorite place to read and relax. The world famous Red Bar is about a 5 min walk from the cottage. The WORLD CLASS beaches are a very short walk as well. A couple of the items that I personally really like is (1) 18 mile long running/walking/biking trail that is parallel to C-30A. and (2) the miles and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails that are about a mile north of the cottage. The mountain biking is Grayt at Grayton Beach! Thank you for having such a Grayt Place!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+.
