Location: Killington, Vermont, USA (Pittsfield - 8 miles to Killington slopes) View Map

Accommodations:  House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2.25 Baths (Sleeps 12-15)

Set on a private road in the hills just north of Pittsfield, our house welcomes you - winter or summer. Right in the heart of the Northeast’s best winter-sports, it is very convenient to the Killington and Pico ski resorts. Sugarbush, Okemo, and the famous Mad River Glen are all within easy reach for day trips. For golfers, Vermont’s #1 public golf course, Green Mountain National, is only ten minutes away, and in addition to Killington's own course, there are about 20 other excellent courses within an hour’s drive.

The house is a comfortable and spacious (2,000+ sq.ft) three-bedroom contemporary split into four levels. It’s a perfect place to relax and have fun whether you’re on your own or with a group. With the large living area, the dining room and the den on different levels, the house caters to large numbers of people yet still affords privacy. While you soak up the heat of the big fieldstone fireplace upstairs, the gang could be watching TV or playing games downstairs.

The kitchen is big enough for family eat-in, and the dining room seats 10-12 comfortably. The two upper levels are especially bright and airy with high cathedral ceilings and numerous skylights. The two bedrooms on the lower middle level sleep 3 & 4 respectively and share a (new!) full bath. The master bedroom on the lower ground level sleeps 5 and has its own (also new!) bathroom.

Though the ski areas and golf courses are probably the main attractions, there are a number of activities available right from the doorstep. Picturesque hiking/snowshoeing trails lead straight from the house into the vast forests of the Green Mountains. There are other trails nearby (no need to drive) that are suitable for cross country skiing or mountain biking. And if you’re into something even more vigorous, the Vermont snowmobile trail network (VAST) is accessible from less than a half mile away.

In addition to the above, there are facilities for tennis, racquetball, bungee jumping (yikes!), alpine slide, swimming, fishing streams, tubing, music, theater, shopping, and any number of other activities nearby.

The ’08-’09 ski season was a major success with a full house nearly straight through. Please visit the guest book/review section for comments and reviews that previous renters have made. This spring we completed more improvements and renovations (including 2 completely redone bathrooms, yea!), and the property is again available for short-term rentals over summer and fall 2009 - and of course for the ’09-’10 ski season. Why the Owner Chose Killington

I have always been a skier. I started going up to Killington from New York in the early eighties, renting and organizing share houses to be able to afford the season's ski pass and the gas in my old Pontiac. On occasion I would bring my parents up and they decided they liked the area - especially in the fall and summer. Hence the decision to buy a house there - on condition that I help defray the costs by running it as a share house in the winter.

It was great fun for many years but when I moved overseas again it was impractical to run as before. So I started renting it by the season, and now for short-termers as well. I have since bought the house and this site has been a real benefit to keeping the place going. Though the rent never comes close to paying the bills, I get good reviews and they encourage me to invest in making the house more and more comfortable every year.

When I'm lucky, I can occasionally squeeze in between bookings and enjoy the place for a few days myself!

Owner's Map of Killington

I'm certainly not your average Vermont vacation home renter. Though I consider myself to be from New York City, I have lived and worked all over the world - but primarily with a focus on telecommunications in Africa. Though I may have only played a small part, I can lay claim to having contributed over the last 15 years to providing mobile telephone services to more than 300 million people on the continent. When I first started, there were fewer telephones in Africa than in my home town - mobile or otherwise!

Still on the same crusade, I just moved to Cairo after having lived ten years in Holland. So I have yet another new language to learn!

    • What a great house in which to spread out and relax! It's comfortable, has all the conveniences, has a great view and the relaxing sound of a mountain stream nearby. It's also centrally located just off route 100. We loved our stay and hope to go back some time. Thanks David!

    • We enjoyed staying at the house for a summer vacation. The location of the house makes it ideal for exploring many different locations in VT. We also enjoyed riding bikes and hiking right around the house. I especially enjoyed the spacious kitchen which was great for cooking. David was easy to deal with and helpful in every way.

    • A total of eleven people stayed at the house and we loved everything about it . There was plenty of room for all. We loved the big dinning room table, were we all ate and played games. All the guys loved the pool table and the ping pong table. The music system was nice also. We loved the big fire place with all the wood we needed. The house is well built and kept up. We have nothing bad to say about David or his home.

    • The house is great. We were two families for a whole week and had plenty of space for us all. The house is built so that everyone can find his own quiet space, the wonderful rocket chair near the fireplace downstairs, or the play area with the pool table, piano and a sitting area by the fireplace with a view that is everything you expect from a mountain home. We had a wonderful time and the kids loved it! The house is also very close to Killington ski area and everything you need. David was a great host, generous and considerate. It was a pleasure.

    • The cabin had everything we needed for an awesome ski week. The slopes were a close 15 min. drive down the road as well as restaurants/bar (access road). There was a general store at the bottom of the driveway that was well stocked, along with a pizza shop that had good pizza, and a gas station. It was nice being off the beaten path were we could enjoy nature a little more. The fireplace was every bit of 5 ft. wide, and the wood burning stove downstairs was a nice touch. I would definitelly recommend staying at this cabin if you have the chance. David was a great host and was very easy to do business with. Hope we can get back there again.
