THE PARK HOUSE:
The Park House is a charming cottage in a park-like setting on the northern outskirts of Sonoma which offers good Feng-Shui with all the comforts of home. A peaceful respite in the heart of all of the attractions of Sonoma Valley.
The 1000 square foot home on 1/3 of an acre, is set in a oak woodland neighborhood. Take a walk down some of the many winding roads, unhampered by sidewalks, lined with trees. The Passion flower arbor welcomes guests from the roadway and invites you to take the stone path up to the house. House has a redwood deck with a 2 person hammock in front, and a patio with grape arbor in the back, complete with cedar swing and another hammock (we are into hanging out here). It is a natural setting, but with terraced landscaped gardens, including (varies with season) a organic vegetable garden. The most amazing part of the park is the volcanic rocks and cliff that extend some 30 feet high above the house in the back yard. This makes for privacy and a feeling of comfort.
The Park House features one bedroom with a queen-size bed that looks out into the backyard. The sunken living area with view of the front yard features a full-sized sofa bed. The living /sleeping area become a private area with the use of a shoji screen (japanese rice screen). You will also find a wood stove, TV (bedroom and living room), stereo, VCR/DVD, and Yamaha (Upright Grand) piano. Bathroom has a jacuzzi tub with 9 jets. The custom designed kitchen cabinetry is made in Pecan (sometimes called hickory wood). You will note many wood features in this house as the owner in a previous life owned (part owner) Artisan Woodworkers, a upscale fine woodworking cabinet shop. The headboard, mirrors, dining room table and kitchen show off the "one of a kind" nature of Artisan's work.
Nearby on Highway 12 are taco trucks for eating (we recommend La Bamba), Sonoma Mission Inn for drinks, Agua Caliente pool for swimming and spa, and Sonoma Golf Club - all within walking distance.
Finally, The Park House accepted Oprah's challenge to be "greener." We have replaced all the electric light bulbs with the new "ecobulb plus." We also compost all waste in the "Rosi" composter located outside the laundry door. Just a little bit towards a cleaner, healthier environment.
THE PARK CABIN:
FOR THOSE WHO WANT A "GREEN" STAY IN THE VALLEY OF THE MOON. Your carbon footprint will go from a size 10 to a size 3!
Quiet and private hilltop retreat with a FANTASTIC VIEW OF SONOMA VALLEY.
The Park Cabin is a modern 10x12 foot studio with pine parquet flooring. It has a full sized-queen bed, small TV with VCR/DVD,AM/FM,CD,electric heater and Franklin woodstove, hotplate, refrigerator, microwave, painted Italian sink with hot and cold filtered water, incinerating toilet, ceiling fan and a private outdoor (hot, of course) shower and WIFI.
It is a very comfortable little place with great conservation of space, but there is no real kitchen. Plan on heating things in the microwave or hotplate or keeping things cool in the refrigerator. Or, go out to many of the great places to eat nearby.
There is also an antique secretary with a draw down desk and upper cupboards for utensils/tea.
The Queen bed is a new memory type where your weight is surrounded by the material- soft, pliably firm yet not squishy. There is a chest of drawers for clothing.
The French doors open onto the wrap around 6 foot deck, and there is quite a good view from all parts of the cabin. The deck has a hand made Amish style rocker and there is a smaller rocking chair indoors. Very Private, you are up on top of the hilltop overlooking the Mayacamas looking East.
Space is an issue in the Cabin. It is perfect for the person who wants to get away and doesn't mind stretching by an outdoor shower or not having a full kitchen. Couples should be prepared to be close.
The wrap around deck looks out on a magnificent view of the eastern Sonoma Valley range, the Mayacamas. It is rustic and secluded.
There are stone steps that lead up to the cabin from the lower gardens below.
The Cabin is approximately 200 feet from the roadway. It is a climb of approximately 25 feet elevation. It is not recommended for persons who have problems with climbing or walking on irregular surfaces because there is a strenuous climb on the stone steps up to the top of the property. It is worth the climb. At night the lower garden pathways are lit til 9pm. Please bring your flashlights!
A few steps from the deck are large volcanic boulders overlooking the pinacle rock outcropping which has an area to sit and take in the view, please watch your step- it is hazardous and you take on the liability for your injury if it occurs. In the 30 yrs since Ive been owner no one has ever been injured, but it is necessary for adequate warning to let you know.
Access to washer/dryer, and separate entrance from The Park House is provided. Both the House and Cabin have intercom and local telephone service.

- Mountain View : It's really hard to describe, but we have our very own rocky cliff overlooking the eastern Mayacamas. You've just got to see it. This is part of why we call this The Park House. It feels like you are in a tiny park enclosed in older hot springs neighborhood. On the knoll at the top of the property, we've added 2 chickens, Fernanda and Maria (they're Mexican) and have free range of the park and help with insect control.

- Backyard has a terraced gardens (fruit trees, natural landscape, vegetable) with stone steps that lead up 25 foot volcanic cliff that looks over the eastern foothills of Sonoma. Recently we have added chickens in the meadow on the knoll above the property. They are "free range" on most days. If you sit on the boulders overlooking Sonoma Valley, on a clear day you can see Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, and sometimes, if you are lucky, Mount Diablo in the East Bay. The Park House is located in old style "Hot Springs" neighborhood, with large lot sizes, each home is a little different (some fancy, some not so) and there are no sidewalks. The homes are anywhere from new to 100yrs old. The Park House is 37 yrs old. At one time people would take the narrow gage railroad from Marin County up to this area for the "hot bathes." Nearby is one of the remaining hot springs, called Agua Caliente Pool and Spa. Also, there is the upscale Sonoma Mission Inn Spa. We like hammocks for cuddling in-
