Why the Owner Chose Alexandria

Charming Old Town Alexandria has many exciting, modern amenities and historical treasures to explore: from Gadsby's Tavern, the Lee Boyhood home, Christ Church, and cobblestone streets to the renowned Torpedo Factory Art Center, upscale shops and a vibrant and diverse restaurant scene. We love living in Old Town and hope guests will discover that this quaint city has as much to offer as the District itself.

Beautiful home. PERFECT location!

Date of Stay: 06/11/11 Review Submitted: 06/29/11

My husband and two teenaged sons stayed at The Hobby House for one week in June 2011. Though I am from the area and still have friends there, the main attraction was the history and sites of DC. The home was very comfortable. Our rental car fit in the garage (and only came out twice during the whole trip) and friends who visited us easily found street parking. The sleeping arrangements worked perfectly for us and we found everything we needed. Wireless worked which helped with keeping up with a few work tasks and we spent the mornings and evenings on the cool and quiet porch swing. BUT the biggest plus was the location! We walked to the Metro station two short blocks away and made our way to museums and memorials, the Zoo and the Kennedy Center and even explored a couple of DC neighborhoods all through the wonderful public transportation system. The added treat was downtown Old Alexandria. Great food and shops! Starbucks. A free trolley. It couldn't have been more perfect! We even took a boat ride from the Old Town dock (walking distance from the house or just make it down to King St and grab the trolley) to the National Harbor and Mount Vernon. My kids said this was the trip of a lifetime and it was made possible with this great rental selection! I couldn't recommend it more highly and hope there is a vacancy next time we visit the area.

Owner response:Thanks Stacy; we so enjoy receiving feedback on our property. We definitely hope you'll stay with us again on any future trips to DC!
