This is a very nice unit in a great location. It is kept up very well, was very clean and was perfect for my wife and I and our 2 boys. Pena Mar is a very secure development with 24 hr/ security, very nice pools, workout room etc. I would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area. We visited all of the following which were within an hour drive. El Yunque, Luquillo Beach, Palmas del Mar, Icacos Island and Old San Juan. Many of the snorkeling trips leave right across the street which was nice as well. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate with our Bio Bay trip, but hopefully we can make it back for that. John does a very good job communicating everything you need to know before arriving in Puerto Rico. I would defintiely recommend this rental to others looking to visit the area.

We had an absolute wonderful time at this condo. It was safe, clean and in a great area. Great place for kids and adults. We slept like babies too!!! Everything that you need is close by as well such as Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and many places to eat. The owner is available to help with anything too. There's security available and so much more! The pools were pretty nice too!

Centrally Located--Well Equipped

We were two senior couples traveling together throughout the Island. Our time at this property was pleasant. Top of list of pluses are value--it is, as marketed, moderately priced--and location. It is very close to major attractions of El Yunque, bioluminescent bays, ferries to Culebra and Viequez, highly rated beaches and 3 major resorts with all their available amenities, restaurants, golf, etc. The condo is nice for families with 3 BR's, several child friendly amenities (portacrib, etc) and 3 pools on the premises. Kitchen is equipped with all basics, making it easy to prepare your own meals and further stretch your budget. You can also enjoy some downtime on the balcony overlooking the marina, watching a bit of tv or a movie, or surfing the internet. We did encounter some problems on arrival: condo was very dirty, the 2nd BF queen bed was broken so mattress was on the floor and usable only if you were willing to climb over the rail to get out of bed at night, the internet didn't work and several other things were broken or in disrepair. We also had no toilet paper. Since we arrived late, 8:00 and tired after long day of travel, needless to say we were quite upset. We immediately called John. Initially he felt that we were exaggerating--we weren't--but he agreed to have someone come in the next day to fix the bed. By the next morning he'd decided to fly to PR from FL. He took care of all our concerns and more, adding several extras like an iron and board, bathroom and closet accessories, and new modem so we were able to enjoy use of our iPads for research. He even refunded us $110 for the inconveniences. Thanks to John's responsiveness, we were able to fully enjoy our stay. The biggest negative of the condo: street noise. Almost a must to leave the balcony door open to get sea breeze in the living room--there's no A/C there--and the noise makes it very difficult to hear the tv and at times to even have a conversation. Considering the strengths, we'd recommend this property.

Owner response:As you can see from all of my previous reviews left by other guests, one of the constant themes is how clean our condo is when they check in. You can imagine my surprise when I received the call. When I arrived at the condo of course the claim that the condo was dirty was highly exaggerated. They proceeded to show me a small rag that had some dust on it that they had saved just for me to see. As for the toilet paper being missing, this is true and was confirmed by our cleaning crew. We usually leave a complimentary roll in each bathroom along with toiletry to get you started. The platform bed did have to be put together. Someone bent metal reinforcement bar for the wood slats and then proceeded to take the platform apart. I reassembled the bed and reinforced all of the supports. I even put two jacks underneath the support braces just as an extra precaution. As for the internet, it was working just fine. The problem was that only had ipads and could not use the ethernet jack as the wifi that I provided as a courtesy only allowed one person to connect at a time. I took care of the problem by purchasing a new wireless router. The comment several things were broken and in disrepair, is just not accurate or true. I did feel bad that the mattress was not on the frame and felt that in order to make it up to them, I would also give them a night for free. Again, their review is not accurate as I gave them 150.00 in cash not 110.00 Yes there is street noise but to say that it's hard to hold a conversation is ridiculous. As mentioned from the other reviewers, the balcony is one of the nicest places to hang out as you have front row seats to people watch as tourists board the yachts and head out to sea. If you are the type of people who do not want to be pool side when staying at a hotel, then my place is not for you. It would be best to pick another condo that overlooks a parking lot. As for the Air Conditioner in the main part of the condo. This is just like the ironing board comment. I have always supplied an iron but never had anyone complain that they needed an ironing board. I bought one just to make her happy and even upgraded the iron itself so now you have two to use. As I write this review, a High End Fujitsu Mini Split Air Conditioning Unit is being installed that will freeze you out in case you want to close the sliders.

The condo provided a secure, clean, getaway from our touring with its relaxing pools and convenient location. The balcony view is fantastic with the ocean on the left, the marina stretching to the right, iguanas and birds in the flowering trees edging the marina. (Caution: The balcony window-wall can be easily walked into if you get too enthralled by the view.) El Yunque, bioluminescent bay tours, beaches, restaurants, grocery/essentials and souvenir shopping are all available just minutes away. Our group of five adults and a two year old were truly pleased with the condo and our total experience.

The condo is exactly as pictured. It was perfect for our family of 6 (3 adults, 3 kids aged 5, 3, 3): ample space, comfortable beds, great pools. We were there during a quiet week in October and had all 3 pools to ourselves - lots of fun and perfect for young kids (and big kids - we loved the slide pool)! Very close to Seven Seas beach and Las Croabas. Grocery shopping nearby (Amigos and Walmart). Very easy access to Seven Seas beach. We had a great time and definitely would consider a repeat visit.. The only minor things I would note: the unit abuts the road, so there is some traffic noise. They were a little short on cups and cutlery, but John is so responsive I have no doubt they will add more to the condo. Great value for your money!

A Great Home-base for a Wonderful Vacation

My family and I arrived later than anticipated due to heavy rain and traffic. Since it rained for the rest of the day we got to familiarize ourselves with the apartment. It looked just like it was depicted in the photos. One thing that should be mentioned is that only one room has a dresser of drawers, the other two have only closets for clothing storage. Other than that, it was as stated, neat and clean and well maintained. The owner was easily accessible by e-mail and answered all questions, as well as made recommendations for things to do and places to see nearby. The pools were gorgeous, warm, clean and kept well. Security gurards were accessible and friendly and also offered information, directions, etc. when asked. Almost all of them spoke English, too. I would definitely recommend this unit for anyone looking to go to and stay in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.

Hi John - Thank you so much for listing your condo on VRBO. We had a fabulous time in Puerto Rico and the location, comfort and cleanliness of your condo was beyond our expectations. Plus the pools were out of this world!! We will definitely visit again. I hope you found our check out and cleanup to be satisfactory. We did wash the sheets and left them in the dryer before we checked out. We also left a small container of sugar which we dated in a sealed container in the cupboard to the right of the stove and a few clean dishclothes in the kitchen as there were none when we arrived. From the moment we stepped through the door we were impressed. Very clean and lots of room. Nice size bedrooms and bathrooms. Nice view of the Marina accross the road. The people at the gate were very courteous. Beautiful view of the ocean from the infiniti pool, although it could've been better if the builder had planned better.

My husband and I loved this place! The condo is really nice and the balcony is a great place to have breakfast. There is a beautiful view for the balcony. You have the marina and the beautiful ocean. You can open the sliding glass doors and let the caribbean breeze come in. The swimming pool, jacuzzi, and fitness room is clean and well maintained. It is really safe too, you have to go through a security gate to get to the condo. Also, you have your own parking space. It is very close to El Yuque Rainforest. I would recommend this property. you get a great condo for a great price.

I have to make a comment, This place was a great place what you see is what you get. The place is clean, beautiful, comftable, peaceful, and more..... When i got there everything was more than expected I will recomend everybody I know to this place. Very good location. 3 minutes to El Conquistador hotel. Balcony looks to the Marina. Weekdays is very private. Excellent pool facilities in the complex. Good value.
