This house which we named Casa Alegre, or Happy House, is located right on the beach in the Villa Obregon part of Melaque. It was built in 2001 and was completely loved by its owners, its architect, its builder and his workers. It was meant to be our home. Unfortunately, life sometimes has other plans so when the house was finished, we decided to make it available for others to enjoy. Of course, we also visit whenever we can.
Entering the door from the street, lush plants and lovely colors welcome you. You’ll find yourself breathing a sigh of pleasure. Moving into the house itself, you’ll immediately see the ocean and feel that you’ve “come home.” The house is perfect for entertaining, for being private, for being lazy, for being productive--whatever you want to do, you’ll be happy doing it in Casa Alegre.
Melaque is a unique and special little Mexican town. Casa Alegre is five easy blocks from the town square. There are many little restaurants, several of them gourmet. There’s are several grocery stores, green grocers and pharmacies. There is an ATM in town and several “casa de cambios”, a place to change travelers checks and dollars into pesos. Yet in spite of all these conveniences, it remains a little town and not “tourist-y” at all.
