We enjoyed our family getaway. The owners have thought of everything. Our trip was easy since we did not need to bring much. Our children want to go back to "their" cabin. The furnishings are new and in excellent taste. All of the linens, towels, baths, kitchen are perfect and I never expected to find such lovely items and decor in a rental cabin. We felt relaxed as soon as we entered. - everything is beautifully decorated with art. I have to say, the view is the best part! I would love to wake up here every morning. The views go on and on. We cannot wait until our next trip. We hope to rent again this winter for ski season. And thank you to Lee Ann for all of your proposal information and for all of the travel check-in help. You really took care of us. Thank you for creating such a wonderful spot for my family. We will always treasure this cabin and our memories.

We had a great time at this very well stocked mountain home. The views were beautiful from both decks -we woke up in a cloud our first morning! If you are travelling with small children, be warned .... the owners have thought of everything. There are plenty of things (books, games, toys, videos) to keep little ones occupied while you enjoy the view. Highly recommend this rental!

We absolutely loved our time at Overlook Retreat. The cabin was perfect. It was even nicer than the photos! The cabin had plenty of room for our family, toys and all kind of baby gear for our 10 month old, and, of course, amazing views. The decks were lovely. It was so relaxing to be able to drink our morning coffee out on the deck overlooking the lake and mountains. In addition, the cabin was so clean and tidy. Everything was in good condition. We enjoyed the full kitchen, which made it easy to cook meals at the cabin. Also, Lee Ann was so helpful and really went the extra mile to make sure we had all of the information about local attractions and fun activities. Thank you so much for a lovely vacation! We hope to be back someday soon.

We truly enjoyed our week at the cabin. The view was great. The listing information was completely accurate and it was extremely well maintained. We would certainly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to that area. It was a longer drive to Boone than I expected, but we enjoyed our daytrips to Grandfather Mtn, Blowing Rock, and the ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Hello to everyone:) Daniel and I first stayed at the Overlook Retreat December 13-17, 2008 for our honeymoon. We both fell in love with the cabin...We loved the luxurious but "feels like home" feel...You can just melt into the master bed...The entire cabin is beautifully decorated and has everything you would ever need. The views are amazing and the local shops are fun to stroll through for an afternoon. We also drove to Boone, not too far away and enjoyed the day shopping and just soaking up the mountain views. We got the chance to come back for our 1 year anniversary and it was wonderful...When we walked in the door it was like coming back home...We didn't want to leave!!!...For anyone with families...i would definitely recommend staying here too...Daniel and I would like to go back with his parents and brother and his family to stay...We know the kids would love all the toys and games and the adults would love all the views and the peaceful atmosphere...Well I hope this does this home justice...I can't recommend the Overlook Retreat enough:) Thanks Hauser-Harrison Family:):):)

We had a delightful time at the cabin, enjoying both the beautiful fall foliage and seeing the first tiny flakes of snow in mid-October. The kitchen is well- appointed, the beds are comfy, and the location far enough away to feel "vacated" but also close enough for getting out and about. We'll be back!

We have just returned from a WONDERFUL visit to Overlook Retreat! One of the things that drew me to this house in addition to the photos of the house and VIEWS was the feedback from everyone who had stayed there! Everything is as described...the view is beautiful and it is very apparent that the owners have thought of everything so that you can completly relax. So many trips I have to pack toys, pack and plays, high chairs, etc, but I didn't have to pack any of that to come here and what a differece that makes! We loved our stay and would definitly return!

We stayed at the cabin for our 15th wedding anniversary. The view was amazing day or night. The cabin was private yet close to everything we needed. We had a wonderful vacation and the cabin was the best part. The pictures just can’t capture how great the view really is…...it took my breath away when we pulled into the drive. After a day of exhausting activities—kayaking, rafting, and climbing Grandfather Mountain, the cabin was the perfect ending to the day. Weather threatened to rain out our rafting trip, but I wasn’t concerned because it meant I would get to stay in the cabin all day. We cooked supper in the kitchen every night. My teenagers enjoyed hanging out and playing some of the games. I could not stay away from the upstairs deck—coffee in the morning with the sunrise and drinks and conversation in the evening with the moonrise. The cabin was perfect!

What an AMAZING cabin! The pictures don't even do it justice. An extremely modern yet delightfully rustic interior with an INCREDIBLE view. A perfect couple's getaway or family's weekend retreat. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin for our Christmas Vacation. A week in the mountains was my present to my entire family and we all had a fantastic time. We just returned from a wonderful vacation at Overlook Retreat. We've stayed at several other cabins and this was the best by far. The view is amazing and the accomodations are awesome. My kids (ages 2-12) didn't want to leave the toys/games at the cabin in order to go and do other activities! Some tree limbs fell over and blocked the road while we were there. We sent Lee Ann (the owner) an email to make her aware of the situation. She and the other owner called locals to have the trees removed as soon as possible. They also called us three times to make certain the trees were removed and we were able to travel. We highly recommend Overlook Retreat for other families and hope to return again soon. A perfect place to spend a quiet, relaxing vacation.! The views were amazing from both decks - we ate all of our meals out there! Beautiful sunrises every morning, just a great place to wind down. It was close to all the local attractions including the Blue Ridge Parkway. The house itself was maintained perfect, the beds were comfortable and if you have kids, there was a game room with with tons of toys for them!

From the outside view of the cabin, it looks kind of small, but once you get inside, you see it can easily hold two families with kids. The deck has a magnificent view. Even my mother-in-law is impressed! We moved from SF to Charlotte and this is our first trip to the mountains. This cabin will definitely be on top of our list for the next retreat.

The Cabin was GREAT! Our first vacation since 1992 and we loved it. It was so spacious we fit 2 adults and 5 kids and still had comfort. We are looking to go back in the fall. The view was beautiful, sat on the porch most of the time we were at the cabin. It was very clean and beautifully deacorated. You really have to visit Grandfather Mountain if your going to the Cabin, it was beautiful. Thank you so much LeeAnn for the great vacation!

I just want everyone to know that we don't know what we got until you take a trip to this cabin. The air is so clean and the view is you are on your way to heaven. I cleaned this cabin for 6 month and I hated to leave it. I would still be there if it was not for gas. The cabin is will taken care of and is a wonderful place to take your children and family. The only thing wrong with the cabin is you don't want to leave it. And you can't take it with you. Life passes by so fast and we don't understand until we take a few days to be in heaven. So to the homeowners I just want you to know I will always love your cabin and will return back again when I too can stay longer and not work. Thanks for everything. Jenny O

This cabin was a wonderful place for a family vacation. The cabin itself was beautifully decorated and the views from the deck were incredible. The downstairs offered many games and toys which my children (ages 3 and 8) really enjoyed. My family and I would love to stay at this cabin again and hopefully we can sometime in the fall.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the views from the deck. The children (we have four littles) were completely entertained between the video games and all the assorted toys. The youngest loves Bob the Builder and we can't find much with that theme, so the ride on toy was an enormous hit! Mama appreciated the kitchen having everything to include two different size crock pots! Possibly the best part was having a washer and dryer, so we didn't have to pack a ridiculous amount of clothing! The drive definitely provides some thrills, as does a snake, but it's nature and it's beautiful! We caught a single fish at the bottom of the hill, saw about a million rabbits (they really are prolific!), and several wild turkeys! We ate at Fraser's in downtown WJ and really enjoyed it.....you have to save room for dessert there! Tweetsie was enjoying a visit from Thomas and that was lots of fun for my littles, but probably not for children much older than middle elementary. Grandfather Mtn was marginal at best, but my husband did return a second day for a hike to the top. It was a bit lame for small children, and they were pretty much sick of being in the car (one of them quite literally) by the time we got back. All in all, the cabin is perfect! You can't go wrong with isolation like this coupled with ammenities that abound!

This home was PERFECT! You thought of every essential one could possibly need. We have two young daughters and stayed here with another family who has two young daughters also. The children had a BLAST playing downstairs which gave us some well needed "adult" time. We heard them laughing and signing the whole time. This home was absolutely PERFECT! You truly thought of everything. We have two young daughters and stayed here with another family who also had two young daughters. A great place for families with kids. Our kids loved all the toys, books and games. The house is so clean and comfortable. It is so well set up for kids, that you won't have to pack half the car with all the extras - they are all there. It has beautiful views for miles. They also supplied us with many ideas to choose from for activities around the area, for daily adventures. What a wonderful family getaway.

Thanks to Lee Ann and Gina for providing a beautiful and clean home for a most relaxing weekend. We had every intention of fishing the whole weekend, but never left the cabin after going to the grocery store on Friday evening! We'll venture out to the neighborhood lake and the New River for fishing the next time we visit. We were thrilled with our stay at the Overlook Retreat. The views are spectacular and the cabin is so well-appointed that it felt like we never left our home. However, the significant difference in the Overlook Retreat is the help and support that the owners offer, from detailed driving directions to helpful tips about the area that allow you to experience the area like a native to making themselves available at all times to answer any questions that may arise. It's a unique package that truly makes you feel like you own a home in the mountains!

Our stay was absolutely perfect! This cabin has it all, from the spectacular views, tons of toys, and all the well thought of extras that you just don't find in most cabins. The cabin is perfectly equipped for families, with lots of games and entertainment. It is beautifully decorated with all the amenities of home. The views are spectacular, especially the sunrises. Even though it is very quiet and serene, you are just 10 minutes away from stores and restaurants. Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway were very accessible, lots of opportunities to hike. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return again.
