  This house is located right near the beach. A wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of san juan. The house is lovely and clean with a huge terrace with a barbeque grill for entertaining in the evening. It is well stocked with everything you might need for your stay. I would definitely come back to this house. The security is tight and makes you feel very safe in this community.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  My husband and I stayed in this adorable beach house for two months this winter, 2012,  and two months the winter of 2011.  We loved it!  Luquillo is the perfect vacation spot, close to El Yunque Rain Forest, the ferry to Culebra and Vieques, as well as all kinds of activities.  The beach is one of the best on the island.  The house is simple, clean and comfortable.  The house was very well stocked, including outdoor games, snorkel gear, boogie boards, etc. there are even lobster pots!!!  We bought fresh fish and lobsters at the pescaderia (fish market) and put the equipped kitchen to good use.  It is located in a pretty and safe gated community, right by the beach.  It is also quiet, and while we were there we met a number of the neighbors! Who were friendly and helpful.  You are a long walk or very short drive to a good grocery store, and restaurants.  The famous kioscos (small restaurants) are very close also.  I can't recommend this house highly enough.  Edgardo is a wonderful host.  We plan to be back again next year.

  This place is perfect, especially if you have children (we traveled w/ our 3 year old). It's in a very charming neighborhood with private beach access. It's a block away from the pool, and a leisurely 5 min walk to the beach...or if you prefer you can drive to the gate and still park within the fence. We walked to the beach most times which gave me the chance to look at the other villas, and I have to say this one is one of the best locations within Solimar especially for families. It has a shared large back yard area for the kids to run around with a small playground while the adults relax on the HUGE patio with a few cold drinks. There's a gas grill too, for BBQ at home. Grocery store and pharmacy are a quick 3 min drive away. There's everything you could ever need for a trip to the beach - towels, mats, beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, balls, shovels, buckets... loads and loads of beach toys. The owner, Edgardo, has really thought of everything to make your stay perfect. Edgardo is readily available to answer any questions you may have as well! It really felt like home instead of a typical hotel. In fact our 3 year old keeps asking when we can go back to our "Puerto Rico house". While you're in Luquillo and visiting the kiosks I highly recommend Vejigante (kiosk #31). Also head downtown at try El Ricon del Sabor - Luis the owner is great and the food is wonderful!

  Everything that could have been needed was thought of. I mean from various sports equipment to board games and puzzles. Picturesque views all around. The only minor drawbacks were the guest bedroom had a very loud bed (I preferred to sleep on the futon in the living room) and the futons weren't as comfortable as a nice couch to lay on. The owner was very prompt and courteous- extremely professional with any little question we had. We didn't get everything done that we wanted to do so there will be a next time and we will be staying for longer than two weeks.

  The unit and condo complex were a bit dated but VERY clean, well maintained, comfortable, well stocked, and great for families. The condo had everything: tons of beach toys, boogie boards, towels, well stocked kitchen, extra sheets, foosball table on the patio, etc. We rented 2 units for an extended family getaway; this unit was close to the pool but farther away from the beach within the complex. The location is great: close to El Yunque, grocery stores, etc. Not the W, but much more comfortable than a luxury hotel for families with young kids.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children.

  First time visiting this part of the beautiful island. This home was perfect for my elderly parents and I. Simple but charming, has everything and anything that is needed. The private beach and pool are within walking distance. El Yunque is minutes away and can be seen from the beach! We enjoyed playing Dominos in the shaded gazebo area.This private community is gated so you feel safe. Edgardo was very attentive and a pleasure to work with. I wil be returning with my family again!

  We too stayed here for 4 nights over Spring Break, apparently right before the folks from Baltimore (below). We had our teenage son and his friend with us, both 17, and everyone found it to be very nice. Edgardo met us at the car rental to give us the key and directions, and everything went completely smooth from there. The location is fantastic: 30 minutes or so from SJ airport by rental car, very easiy to find, just a short walk to a very nice family beach, 2 minute drive to grocery and drugstore with everything you'll need, 5 minute ride to the food kiosks, and a 10 minute drive to the rain forest. The place comes equipped with all the basics, including beach chairs and a couple of small boogie boards, beach cooler, 2 adult bikes, fully equipped kitchen, and even some food basics (Don't buy sugar!! there is plenty). Cable TV's worked great, and there is a DVD player (maybe on both; can't remember). Only problem was the top bunk was too small for a teenager, but the bottom was plenty big for one and the futon couch sufficed for the other. One suggestion: Don't eat dinner at Ritchies! The view is great for a sunset drink, but the prices were way too high for mediocre food. Eat at kiosk number 1 instead; wonderful meal there! Thanks Edgardo! We may be back!

  We spent Spring Break 2010 at Solimar and had a wonderful time. Edgardo met us at the airport and handed over the keys and a useful information pack. The kids (aged 7 and 5) loved the pool, basketball court and playground at the complex and we all enjoyed surfing and building sandcastles on the beautiful beach. The beach was close enough for us all to walk to but far enough away for us not to be bothered by the Caribbean Calypso music. The house was fully equipped as described and we made great use of the pool 'noodles', snorkelling equipment and surfboards. The complex and Luquillo generally seemed to be a holiday favourite for Puerto Rican families and so it was very busy (and a little noisy) on Good Friday and Saturday. This changed by Sunday and for the rest of the week it was very peaceful. We made good use of the gas BBQ and the patio but also tried out the kiosks by the main Luquillo beach. We went on a superb snorkelling trip from Fajardo (East Winds Catamaran), spent a morning in the rainforest where we paddled in the waterfall and a day in San Juan exploring El Morro. Overall a great relaxing Spring Break but with enough to keep us occupied for the week. I would certainly recommend this villa to familes with young children although Luquillo might not have enough nightlife to keep couples or teenagers occupied.

  We just returned from our stay in Luquillo. This house met our needs perfectly. We were there with our two little boys (5 & 2) for about 4 days. We found the patio area and surrounding backyard well suited for outdoor play, "treasure" hunting and pleasant outdoor meals. The boys enjoyed the house lizards and we all loved seeing an iguana run across the front yard! The pictures and description of the house are accurate. The house appeared to be well maintained and we had no difficulties during our stay. The Solimar pool was great (quite a few pool/beach toys at the house for children to use) and of course the easy access to the beach was super convenient. The kitchen was adequately stocked and we enjoyed the use of the gas grill on the patio. Most of our time was spent swimming and on the beach, but we did take in the rain forest, the kioskos (really enoyed Ay! Bonito) and made a jaunt to Fajardo as well. All in all, a very family-friendly, comfortable location and home.

  we took our 2 little ones (2.5 years old and 10 months)on a beach vacation and this place was PERFECT! The owner was kind enough to mention that there was a play-yard at the house. Both kids LOVED the patio and breakfasts outside. The small playground in the community was a hit with the 2 year old. We never made it to the pool (at the beach the entire time) but it's a nice ammenity. So close to a BEAUTIFUL beach. I cannot wait to visit Puerto Rico again and I'll definitely stay here - only longer next time!
