Great Stay in Lake Placid!

Date of Stay: 02/08/12 Review Submitted: 03/27/12

I recently stayed at Hillcrest Haven and had a great time! Some friends and I do a yearly trip to Lake Placid to go skiing at Whiteface. This was the first time we stayed in this house and it was the best one we've been in! The pictures don't do it justice; the house is really great. The location was perfect; walkable to the town/shops/restaurants/bars and close to the shuttle pick up for Whiteface (which was perfect for those who wanted to sleep in). The house was very clean and well-maintained. Bob was very responsive to all of my questions and concerns prior to our stay. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. Thanks for a great vacation!!

An excellent place to stay in Lake Placid for families and groups

Our party of 10 family members were thrilled with Hillcrest Haven upon arrival and several weeks after our stay, are still talking about how nice the house is. The listing in VRBO for this property is understated. We found the bedrooms comfortable; full bathrooms, including one on the third floor, perfectly placed. The charming living spaces provide room for all to gather and privacy for when being to yourself is what you want. If you're looking for a property in town, close to everything and with all creature comforts included, Hillcrest Haven is a terrific choice.

Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to submit these kind words. We try our best to deliver what out listing promises.

Great place, responsive landlord, perfect location

My friends and I competed in the Lake Placid Ironman, and were looking for a nice place, in town, near the course for a training weekend. This place was perfect! It was big enough to accommodate a good size crowd (12 of us stayed there comfortably), it was just off the main street of town, so once you park your car, you do not need to move it until you are ready to leave, the landlord was very responsive and friendly, the neighborhood was quiet and nice, and the price was competitive for similar sized properties in the same general area. I would recommend this place to anyone training for the Ironman or just looking for a place to stay in town. And I plan on renting it again for my next Lake Placid Ironman training weekend.

Owner response:We try our best to deliver what we advertise and are especially glad to hear that folks are pleased with the house. We appreciate this review.

The location is perfect; close to downtown and all the shops and restaurants; the home is well maintained and the cupboards are well stocked with all the cooking utensils and also included the basics such as salt and pepper, sugar and spices. We were a large extended family with small children, and sleeping worked well, The group wants to return.

We stayed here for 4 nights before New Years and had a truly fantastic time. The DiMartinos have a wonderful home and an excellent caretaker. The house was clean and never felt crowded with our group of 14. Our stay couldn't have been nicer. No one was ready to leave. You won't be disappointed.

Perfect for large group

I rented this wonderful house for a skiing weekend for a group of co-workers. The house is "old" but in a really good way. Very nicely kept up with everything in good working condition. The house has eight (8) bedrooms scattered across three floors (which is perfect if some in the group want to turn in early while the others stay up). One of the bedrooms though is only for very small children (as the description of the house indicates). One of the bedrooms does have a futon as the bed. That wasn't a problem for us although a dayriser would be a better choice. The bedrooms vary is size but all (except as noted) were of good size. The kitchen and living areas are nice. The dining table will sit 8-10 comfortably so if you fill the house to its maximum occupancy (14) understand that you may need to adapt. Linens and towels were supplied. Hot water and pressure for the showers were good. The owner was honest and very easy to deal with. The house is close to the main thoroughfare and has a driveway suitable for 5-6 cars. A hot tub on the back porch is a few steps away from the back door and we used it both nights. I was able to grill up some steaks for the group on the propane barbecue grill that does function during the winter. The house also has free high-speed wireless. Cable TV is also present. I would definitely recommend this house for reasonably large groups.

Owner response:We always appreciate reviews because they help futrue renters to know that the house is as we present it in our listing. It's large, well kept and charming in a way that only a big old house can be. We have a full time caretaker who gets the credit for having everything working as it should be.

I spent a weekend at Hillcrest Haven with a group of family members last weekend for a wedding. The house is awesome!! It is tastefully appointed, has a well-equipped kitchen, and had clean, fluffy towels awaiting our showers!! It was very roomy, homey, and warm!! The location was very accessible to downtown Lake George. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!!!

This house is beautiful as well as comfortable.I came up to Lake Placid with 6 kids and 7 adults and there were enough rooms for everyone. This is a great place to visit and get away from it all and still be New York.

My husband and I stayed at Hillcrest Haven house at end of Feb and had a wonderful time. Joining us were eight other relatives, and the house comfortably accommodated the group. It's in a great location - walkable to town. The house is also nicely apointed. We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace late afternoons. I would definitely recommend staying here and plan on a return visit.

Hillcrest Haven is truly a haven for a Lake Placid enthusiasts. Its proximity to town and to sporting events and venues is a real plus, but the best part is staying in a well cared for, well-equipped home - complete with helpful instructions on how to operate everything. The Adirondack style furnishings, the solid architecture, and of course, the hot tub on the deck make for a relaxing "home base" when you're away from home. The DiMartinos do a wonderful job ensuring you have a great visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Lake Placid Hillcrest Haven. There was plenty of room for our group of 13, I loved the close proximity to Lake Placid (1 block), the character of the house with all it's little sitting areas, and especially enjoyed the hot tub. It was also only 15 mins from White Face for skiing. I'd highly recommend this charming house to anyone considering a vacation in beautiful Lake Placid.

We spent our Christmas holiday in this lovely house. We had a terrific time. The house is lovely and area was very quiet and enjoyable. It is in a great area (walking distance to town) and easy to get to whatever you want to do. The wrap around area was a dream and our family had a great stay. The white Christmas was an added plus. If you plan to visit Lake Placid, please consider this house.

Lots of room, very nice home!

Guest: Ladies Weekend (Brockville, Ontario)
Date of Stay: 11/07/08 Review Submitted: 11/20/08

14 of us stayed in this beautiful home for our annual ladies weekend. It was very comfortable, well stocked with needed items, and a perfect location for shopping excursions! Only one block up from the main street in Lake Placid. It sleeps 14 comfortably and the four bathrooms are perfect for large groups. The experience with the owner from booking, answering questions and meeting our needs were met quickly and in a friendly manner. There were signs with explanations of everything we needed to know regarding the house. The back porch is nice, large and the hot tub is a good size for a group. There were no surprises, everything went just as planned and promised. I would recommend this property with no hesitation, it would be especially nice for large families and groups as it is big enough to accomodate everyone but also big enough to give you some private space if you want to have some quiet time.

Owner response:We enjoy the house immensely and work very hard to make it comfortable for our guests. Knowing groups like this one appreciate the house and our efforts gives us a great deal of satisfaction.

This home is every bit as charming "in person" as it appears in the photos. Our group of 14 fit very comfortable. Everything was neat and clean. We enjoyed ourselves completely in the house and the town of Lake Placid.
