Charming Creekside Montecito 1 BR Guest House 1 Block to Beach

Year Purchased: 2000

Why the Owner Chose Montecito

We have lived here for 30 years. We built our guest cottage 20 years ago. We love our home and location and wanted to share it with guests and help them discover the Santa Barbara area. We enjoy hosting company and the guest house has given us a wonderful opportunity to do that.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Quiet, private location with beautiful sycamore trees, an english style garden with lots of California natives and roses. The Creekside backs onto a seasonal creek and gives you a wonderful rural feeling.

We are waking distance to a wonderful beach and surf spot. We are close to everything, Montecito, Santa Barbara, Summerland, Carpinteria and a 45min drive to Santa Ynez.

A
Miramar Beach

Miramar Beach is only a short walk from my house. It feels different to many Santa Barbara beaches because of the way it curves around. The tide pools on the west end of the beach are a source of endless fun. swimming is good at Miramar Beach and can be especially fun if you bring bodyboards and ride the small waves. Where you enter Miramar Beach there is a trail that says "Hammonds Meadows". It takes you on a sand path past tropical plants and flowers to Hammonds Beach.

Myth and history mingle in the lush gardens where Vivien Leigh and Sir Laurence Olivier exchanged vows; in the setting of John and Jackie Kennedy's honeymoon retreat.

E
Hiking Trails

The front country is the region that most people think of when they decide to take a hike in Santa Barbara. The front country is the south-facing slope of the Santa Ynez Mountains. These are the most favorite of Santa Barbara's trails. This is the beginning of the McMenemy/Saddlerock/Girard Loop. This is a lovely hike in the lower parts of the mountains above Montecito. There are nice view spots along the way.

F
Upper Village/Pierre Lafond Market and Deli

Upper Montecito Village's proximity to the mountains make for a magical feel. Quaint specialty shops, great restaurants for casual and elegant dining, a bookstore, bank and library can easily be found in the Upper Village along East Valley Road. Birdwatchers, Nature lovers

Guest: Bob (San Juan Islands, WA)
Date of Stay: 10/29/11 Review Submitted: 11/06/11

Attending a wedding in Montecito, we knew nothing about the area (from Puget Sound, WA). This B&B was the perfect place for us - convenient to all of Santa Barbara and beaches, kind and helpful host and hostess (and son), clean and clever, many birds around the premises, quiet at night, with view of night sky. We spent two lovely days exploring and not enough time for all the possibilities. We hope to return.

Special Place in Montecito

We stayed here in October and really enjoyed every moment. The place is so warm and cozy and the breakfast was so good, it was so comfortable. The place was very clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The view from the front porch is gorgeous looking into a creek with amazing sycamore trees. It is truly just a walk to the beach. Thank you Nicola! It was hard to leave but we'll be back!

My lovely wife and I spent a relaxing week at this lovely place,Nicola and Cliff are very friendly and helpful staff. Close to the ocean, a 10 minute walk, shopping , wine country and all points everywhere. Breakfast delivered the night before, very omfortable bed, nice shower, fully equiped kitchen. On street parking, above a garage, steps to climb, good for most people. 1 blocks from the water, on 2nd level with a small deck, creek and beautiful mature trees, amtrack runs nearby several timea a day. Easy access to hwy 101, 1/2 a mile away. I would recommend to all couples looking for a nice relaxing place near Santa Barbara.

We had a terrific time. Your place is wonderful. The ambiance was very relaxing and reinvigorating at the same time. We loved the beach walks. Your choice of furnishing, decorating, food and treats was very world class and showed your attention to detail. Also, thanks for the restaurant suggestions we loved the food and setting of Playa Azul. Hope to come again soon.

Your B&B has been the most charming, the most lovely the most unique and the most relaxing ever. Our spontaneous decision to take a trip to Santa Barbara was well worth it. Your hospitality, your attention to detail, your amazing decor and your imaculate house had to be something that the world should see. Our stay was wonderful, our walks along the beach early morning, the wine tasting tour, our evening dinners in the town of Montecito our ride along the coast and our shopping downtown Santa Barbara. I enjoyed this wonderful getaway. The creek behind our cottage was the icing on the cake. We felt were in a magic forest. We are planning to visit you again. Thank you.
